Ohh this will be a fun series haha. These poor Sims; they really don't like getting cold do they 😅😅 "oh here she comes, doom herself" made me laugh out loud 🤣 For the diagonal room, you could try using AnoeskaB's object rotators. From some testing I've done, they can use "diagonal" objects that have been rotated on one of those 😊 Sims 2 be like, "yeah you can have diagonal rooms!!" - "but no you can't use anything placed diagonally MUAH HA HA!" I think there was also a mod that fixed Maxis tents so they actually do increase warmth a little bit, if you wanted to check that out
Oof, I had some sims start off camping in winter and, boy, those tents don't do any good for warmth. I ended up using some invisible walls around a couple sleeping bags and then just building them a tiny shelter. I also had the no social worker mod. Poor Ruth! You might wanna turn the fridge around so it's inaccessible when they're not using it, especially once you get more sims in the household.

Loving the Castaway ports
It's an eternal winter, *let's make out* !
Katie: There's no shower yet.
Me: *stares at shower in the shed*
What a fun idea!! Love to see how things are being figured out!!

Haven't long started so far it looks interesting
Interesting challenge. Can they build igloos like they can in Sims 3? I've never played Sims 2.
Will they stay on the same lot as they expand or will they eventually move into an abandoned village(apartment) after they reach a certain target?
Will they be able to furnish their cabin a little or use the trees to 'build' more shelter?
Yes, I think they’ll need to cut down the trees to afford to build more, and hope the ground thaws so someone can find a treasure chest…
