this is so lovely to watch, but you should do some research on protective gear while using resins. it can be really, really bad for your health, even if you're not showing symptoms of allergic reaction right now. resin is highly toxic when in liquid form and the process of hardening releases fumes that even though you can't always smell, will damage your lungs over time. please take care of yourself when crafting! always, always wear gloves and respirator and work in a well ventilated room when working with resins (of ANY kind!!). protect yourself and your loved ones!~

@@lumos4738 I believe that even with “non-toxic” resin it may be a good idea to wear protective gear and stay in a well ventilated area like outdoors. Better safe than sorry :D
Good lord it's not the end of world I use resin everyday. it's fine if you're being cautious
Tip: If ya don't have resin or don't want to use it, a great alternative is mod podge! Of course it's not as good as resin but it gets the job done, and plus you can choose between a glossy and matte finish! It worked fine for me! Oh and of you are using resin remember to wear gloves! Happy crafting (argh that sounded cringy)!

in my country we dont have mod podge, so i feel like glossy nail polish finish could work too

a tip to get an even thickness when rolling out clay: put your clay that you want to roll out in between two pencils, wooden dowels (you can get all sorts of different diameters at Walmart or craft stores, the diameter will equal how thick the clay will be), or any other sticks that aren’t tapered, and then when you roll your clay out, your rolling pin should hit the sticks so that it can’t go any thinner :))

Hi! Please use gloves, mask, and eye protection and have a well ventilated area when you are using resin! It can make you very sick! Stay safe! Liked the video by the way, pins are very cute!🤍🤍🤍
@@jirokyoka4367 resin can trigger an allergic reaction in those who are sensitive, as well as causing severe respiratory irritation if inhaled for long periods. Sensitive areas like eyelids may also become itchy and swollen if repeatedly exposed to resin fumes.

a lil tip : lay them on a sponge and let them dry for 2h from one side then flip them and give the other side another two hours. when you put clay on a sponge it doesn't lose the shape, it stays the exact way you made it

You can make your own clay with 1 cup salt, 2 cups flour, and 1 cup water. Mix and wait 10 ministers before using. Bake at medium heat for 2 hours

hey, i know that pretty much everyone is commenting this, but please wear gloves when handling uv resin (or really any sort of resin in the future) because it's unsafe for you bare hands! your pins are absolutely adorable btw! definitely going to have to get a few for myself!
Just gloves isnt enough, you need a respirator too, resin fumes are bad for the lungs. If you wouldnt smoke then dont use resin with a respirator mask. And make sure the mask is a proper respirator not just a cloth face mask.

When your putting resin on the pin plz wear gloves uv resin is not safe...
She probably didn't since it said non-toxic
uv resin is uv resin.
Its like if it cures while on your finger you don't wash uv resin down the drain. like nail glue, resin doesn't come easily.
@@uniwolfgamer1094 still toxic when still liquid. If you keep pressing the company will also say so. Of course the company will try to beat around the bush and *pretend* that it's also non toxic when still liquid... but that's entirely untrue

@@Jisoounny7 Umm not too bad but it was so sticky. i was using a toxic free one lol
even the ones that say non toxic are terrible nasty concoctions! At the end of the day it’s a chemical, so please wear gloves and a respirator to save your skin and lungs! (Also wear long sleeves). Just some of the side effects of resin exposure are cancer, chemical burns, allergic reactions, lung disease, reproductive harm etc. I recommend the hand cleaner fast orange for any emergencies if you accidentally get some on your skin!
I want to start making pins, magnets and earrings with cold porcelain (since it's easier for me to find than clay). I have the materials but I'm really bad at ideas and your videos really inspire me! ♥️
Tbh this video has given me enough inspiration to make an Etsy shop and start off with selling clay pins- I’ve already gotten everything but lmao now I’m scared no one will buy them 😔

Note to others:
Gouache is not very light-fast paint if you're looking for stuff thats gonna last for years while exposed to sun (like on a purse or backpack)!
It tends to fade after a year of light exposure but if you mostly keep it inside its fine! And either way theyll stay super cute. Just something to keep in mind (:

What type of paint would you recommend??
Would acrylic work better? I wanna make some of these
@@Applejuice646 yeah acrylic paint would have a better light fastness depending on brand. Liquidtex has a pretty good lightfastness. Holbein acryla gouache is also another good option but it is more expensive and still less light fast than some acrylics. You could also look into UV resistant sealants too though!

Those pins are so cute! I think perhaps refining and making molds would be worth it in the future. Helps save time on cutting the pieces one by one. There are many cheap molding putty options from what I’ve seen so far.

My advice: dipping your fingers in warm water or dipping a paint brush in warm water helps with smoothing the edges better, if it gets to sticky and mushy just use cornstarch or any powder

If you want it super even in thickness you can use two guides...say two chopsticks on the sides and roll. That way the clay is the same thickness of the guides all the way around :)

Those are so cute! Now I want to make some too but I probably won't. *Little tip - I feel like I saw small bubbles on your pins after you put resin on them. This can be prevented by going over them with lighter or sth similar before curing them but I know that works with normal resin, not sure about the UV one. You can try looking it up first and don't forget to wear mask and gloves while working with resin

Acrylic may be better imo. You might not need resin if you use it.
when i smooth the edges of the clay, i use little bit of water to smooth it..

Does the gouache end up coming off a bit from the resin Bc ur using regular instead of acrylic gouache? ;0;
i sprayed some mod podge on it before i applied the resin, so the paint was already sealed! i’m not sure if the gouache would come off if i applied resin straight on it but i didn’t want to risk it haha

please protect yourself properly when using resin. even "non-toxic" can have harmful effects. gloves, glasses/goggles and a respirator in a ventilated area.

Ayyy, I make this stuff!
But I use a pasta roller, roll out my clay then use my paper pattern to cut out with an exacto knife. Bake, then sand for way too long with a dremel tool. Paint, then glaze with matte nail polish! I know shiney is nice, but I can't use resin plus my neurodivergent self is very pleased with the soft smooth texture the matte leaves.

i sell internationally! when you check out, as long as etsy allows you to enter your address, then i can ship there
You can use stickers and make them to pins so u will need stickers, cardboard,pinbackings and dimensional modpodge. First you have to put the sticker and stick it to the cardboard ,Then you have to put the dimensional mod podge on the sticker put it closely as you can and let it dry. After it dries the modpodge on the sticker flip the sticker where the cardboard is and put the pinbacking.

if resin isnt available a gloss nail polish would also be able to give the glosses look (it wont protect the pin from scratches though, yellow tinted clear nailpolish will also make it look old so i auggest pink or blue tinted clear nailpolish)
