Hi there! In today’s video I’ll share with you an exercise I do regularly to improve my control of the brush, and the quality of my brush marks.
A big part of watercolor painting is being able to express lines and shapes the way you imagine / plan them - and this is one way I found for improving your ability to do so.
    So let’s do this!
    Time Stamps:
    00:00 - Introduction
    00:41 - I. Line Variance
    03:29 - II. Direction
    07:52 - III. Shapes
    10:43 - Conclusion
I hope you enjoy this one and find it useful 😊🙏🏼

Really like this as a basic exercise. Great for those times when inspiration hides from us, but basics are key!! Thanks

I’ve been doing an online course using wet on wet, and have been so discouraged because the instructor is talented, but moving along way too quickly. I did a search on RUclips for this and watched one of your videos on this, and it’s really helpful. Now I’m watching this, and it’s great, too! It’s fun doing an actual painting, but watercolor takes practice and getting good at technique. I want to be good at it, and I always love the learning process. You are a talented artist AND a really good instructor!

Thank you so much Anne 😊🙏🏼
So happy to hear this approach works for you!
I like to isolate the skill I practice, and do it like that for a while.
That way, I find that it naturally clicks once I do go for a fuller / complete painting (:

I'm going to do this with the paint colors that I don't really like, or have way too much of. I don't like my sap greens, and have WAY too much phthalo blue. And the cheap paper that I don't like, either.

Can you show us how Henry Percy gray painted his paintings and what brushstrokes he used? Either on Patreon or here? I’m trying to paint trees like him but I’m struggling

Please, can you tell me if I can use paper that is not 100% cotton for practicing things like brush strokes, painting those odd shapes exercises, etc.? I can see where there are some practice sessions, like blending or washes that would need good (Arches) watercolor paper. But, it is expensive! IF you only recommend using good paper, then what is your strategy for using it for practice? Do you buy a large sheet and cut it into smaller pieces? Do you use both sides? I bought your course, and you don’t say anything about paper (or I haven’t come across it yet).

Hi Liron, I've just purchased your FFW course, but I closed the webpage and now don't know how to get back in! I haven't got the email yet either (checked spam), help!
