This dude ate all season. He single handedly kept the game against us down to the wire. I was so glad we wouldn’t have to play him again
averaged 14 tackles a game…hits with attitude and can run down just about anyone..
Unfortunately they don't allow tackling or hitting in the NFL. He'll do all that work just to get flagged
If he didnt have his injury history, he probably would’ve been the highest rated linebacker this year but i think this combine performance shot him back up there
A lot of mocks have him round 3. I wouldn't be surprised if he is a late 1st rounder now
@todaywaspretty - I would be. The trend is second round for off-ball LBs even those with 4.4 speed like Willie Gay who played in the SEC West and didn't have the injury history like Payton Wilson. Anything is possible in a draft, though. But off-ball LB is a devalued position with most of the best players being selected in the 2nd round or later.
If Payton goes 2nd round that’s a huge success story. Just want him to go to the right team and stay healthy. If he’s healthy, he’s a star. Anybody who watched NC State this year knows he was all over the damn field every play.

@00ghostcobra there is a chance a team might either trade down at the end of the first of trade up back into the second round if they really need the position and don't see value at their current pick.
Injury history can sink draft value so it wouldn't be surprising if he slips to late third or early 4th. Though game speed can make teams jump early and he has great game speed and his pursuit angles are well above average.
I use to watch these looking for top prospects. Now I just get excited for all these talented young guys.
This was an amazing combine for this young man. He will be a terror where ever he goes for sure.

Didn't need to see this guy in the combine if you watched him on the field. To he** with his 40 time, he plays football fast, he process the game fast, explodes at the point of attack and never gives up on plays. He's the best linebacker in this class.

Great college player at his position, however that I'm thinking late 2nd round, not because of him or his performance, simply because off the ball LB's aren't exactly high value draft picks historically. Kids good though. If he stays healthy he will be a great pro player.
Agreed on all fronts, bro. I wouldn't personally take an off-ball LB in the first round, unless I have a readymade SB that needs one, but even then it would have to be in the 20's.

I went to school with a guy named Aric Morris who played 6 years in the NFL. In middle and high school he looked like the best player I'd ever seen! Guy was benching 300 in the 8th grade, no joke.
You should've seen it in person. He went to the highschool I went too. His brother Bryce plays for the Milwaukee Brewers, but was a stud on the grid iron as well. Look it up!

After a combine like he is having, plus his highlights he may go in the first round now. His play style is like Luke Kuechly, but even more athletic. Kuechly was the best LB in the NFL during his playing time.

Dude plays like Micah Parsons. Tests like him too. Not saying he will be as good as Micah he just plays very similarly as him when he was at Penn State
You have to factor in Parson's size, he's significantly bigger than Wilson (pause) and ability to play the EDGE. I can see what you mean by the off-ball stuff, though.

I don’t care how great ya combine is, that injury history is crucial. There are perfectly healthy guys that have never had an injury and get to league and become injury prone. He’s had double digit surgeries. That’s insane and he’s not even at the pro level yet. Day 3 pick for me
