A lot of possibilities from it failing, being too weak, Sukuna tanking it with amplification, but another one I think is also a possibility is Yuta is targeting the shrine itself with purple.
Yuta and toge vs the zumba spirit is where we started. And now yuta and inumaki vs the King of curses is where we finish. Until sukuna sacrifices his left nut and 6inches via a binding vow to neg-diff the purple
My prediction is that Yuta's Hollow Purple should do some pretty serious damage to Sukuna while the Domain barrier also breaks, allowing Yuji and Todo to jump back into the fray while Yuta recovers since we don't know how long he'll be able to last in Gojo's body. Yuji should get some big hits in on the King of Curses and finally push him to his breaking point where Sukuna will rage out, activating the merger to save himself and propelling us into the final portion of the story. I would love for the Shinjuku Showdown to continue past this point, but a Hollow Purple feels like a pretty climatic and fitting moment to end things. What I'm unsure of is whether Sukuna will survive to set up a final confrontation between him and Yuji, or if he will fuse with the merger to create the ultimate threat.
Another character randomly showing up after being literally physically absent for years, love that Gege decided to turn characters into single panel ponies instead of developing them anymore
My guess is that this purple won't be anywhere near as strong as Gojos plus Sukuna will probably be able to move again right as its fired. Perhaps Sukuna wont take enough damage for his Domain to crumble, but his last remaining hand gets damaged to the point that he cant reopen his domain. So Yuta fails, but makes it so that this Malevolent Shrine is Sukunas last line of defense. Or who knows maybe Sukunas personal femboy will show up and pull a "get down mr president" lol
I'm happy seeing Toge do something, almost as happy as I was when my boy Rin and Larue helped. Everyone is playing their part, if there was no Amai there'd be no freeing Gojo.

if you look at the very last panel, the red and blue aren’t mixing like how it’s supposed to when Gojo usually does it, which means purple is either about to fail entirely, or not be as strong
It'll probably be a combo of moving out of the way AND the purple just not being strong enough since Yuta isn't Gojo. Both reasoning making complete sense if you ask me
