A very encouraging interview, "bookended" by two fun chats. Cheers. :)

Thanks for the recommendation on Napoleon! I almost rented it last weekend. I’m definitely going to watch it today when I get home! Great interview!❤

Haven't even reached the interview yet and had to stop and comment. We live in Asheville North Carolina and bear encounters are just part of life here. We see them regularly even in our neighborhood, usually while walking the dogs. The only time the dogs got really upset with them was the day a bear stole a delivery of dog food from our front porch. The bear ripped open the box, got into the bag, and sat in front of the house happily munching away. Arguing with him wasn't particularly productive.

That is amazing. Both scary and a incredible to see them in the wild - or semi wild eating your dog's food!

Sort of American-oriented, but about movies with a re-creation of a "famous" painting, the quite good movie "1776" in a semi-magical scene, recreates the painting "The Declaration of Independence."

Nice. It is becoming a favourite of mine, love seeing it. The Pieta in The Passion of the Christ is outstanding as was Napoleon's coronation.

LOLOL I would not trust hollyweird in the least. I mean, James you are correct there is a huge difference between writing and making a movie. However, these days Holllywood is more interested in changing things to fit some msg than they are story. If JK had not had the control she has on Potter, they would not have been as good as there were.

What about the fact that AI learns on art created by humans who get no recompense or acknowledgment? (visual art s) seems like theft

I actually agree--this sucks as a practice. One of the ways I deal is that if I work with AI art, I typically also buy something by a human (even if I don't use it), just so SOMEONE is getting some $ as an indie. Unfortunately, the genie is also out of the bottle, and ignoring it is just a way to go extinct. So we have to find a way to maximize our output and efficiency without sacrificing our humanity. Everyone will have a different way of doing it, and I certainly can't tell anyone the "right" way...just share what I do, and then get out there reminding people that humans matter. Supporting other artists is one way I choose to approach it, but your mileage may vary.

I kept waiting for something to learn or apply, but there wasn't anything. It was just two guys chatting, not teaching, just networking amongst themselves.
