  • We've already landed dogtooth tuna, giant trevally, big yellowfin, and line burning wahoo - we continue to catch these fish but all our encounters with blue marlin have left us with bare hooks and broken lines. We come to the end of our epic voyage but things are starting to get tense as we are desperate to get our mate Graeme his first marlin after 10 years of trying - the finale to this is one not to be missed.

    good to see the amazing effort to dive under the boat for the catch and release… also amazing to see someone achieve a lifetime fish. those who aren't fishermen may never appreciate it…. great vid

    What are those sonar things that are coming out from under the boat?

    • @rashguard4573
      @rashguard4573 9 лет назад +3

      +BlackBeltTrollMaster They're zinc anodes. Keeps electrolysis from corroding any of the other metal running gear.

    fine thing, merely to be honored by a hard earned, perhaps gifted, opportunity to live a dream of a life. a lifetime, that is all, dues paid. me too, so, in unexpected reverence, i enjoyed a potentially pure and beautiful thing, in it's own light, the energy of one's will. thanks

    When you all say tagging the fish. Are you all tagging them with a gps tag?

      +Galileo Boats
      Basically a number which allows the fish to be tracked upon recapture

    fisherman who put their thumbs on the reel are just total rookies....either let the fish run or just set the drag tighter....

      perhaps some people have so much skill and experience that they can live 'outside the box,' at least, on occasion?

    • @altitudeillume6729
      @altitudeillume6729 5 лет назад

      we landed kings and wahoo in the 60's & 70's feathering sacred old penn's, our drags were quite rough. offshore sport fishing technology abstract's to 'artificial athletic ability," enhanced, @ least. on i go, when his blister tell's your point, yet, an amateur, a "total rookie," oh please man.

    Backing down on a green fish and touching the leader shouldn't count as a catch. You then proceeded to take over the fight yourself by hand instead of letting the guy catch it fair and square. You lost that last fish for him, I would have been pissed. Just because he had bad luck up until then doesn't mean he wouldn't have lost the catch.

      we horse fish when we've tagged enough for the day or don't want to overly exhaust a great fish; as you know, shark food - game fish, very often unnecessary.

      'caught/released' rule is "harpoon/gaff shot possibility." a PRO, a matador "had it," if you trust lineman. obvious motive's for him to bend, yet, after many shows, i trust in no "piscatorial prevaricator" here. thrilling, epic zane grey closure, without a kill. after 20 yrs until a first, my weathered eye would prefer point blank awe, rare for long tooth, the colors, stunning power & beauty, at mere feet, in the spray, to another exhausted fish and mundane tagging at the boat side.

    • @billyjohn9192

      I understand that, but if you are not catching a fish for food or the fight what exactly are you fishing for? If there are so many sharks around that you don't think you can get the fish in the boat move to a different spot. To me a caught fish is a fish that has been tagged with a standard sized pole, say 6 feet, because if you can tag a fish you probably could have gaffed the fish. It's also pretty dangerous to try and pull in a huge fish that is still green. I think I've watched most of the Ultimate fishing videos and know that this video is an exception-I think frustration set in after all of the lost fish.
