- This week sees Matt Watson targeting a couple of NZ's most under-utilised fish species; skipjack tuna and albacore tuna. Whilst attempting to demonstrate the versatility of these under-appreciated fish, the team are pestered by packs of pesky marlin, and come across some gigantic schools of balling baitfish which have to be seen to be believed.

A 20lb snapper is the holy grail - I've been surfcasting for 45 years and never got one. Yet some people have caught many of them. Thats life I guess :) Love the videos!

i love fish most of all i love tuna . it hurt my heart seeing tuna wasted like that . why not fillet the tuna save the good bit and then mulch the rest what an extreme waste of good fish

Don't think the fish survived , doing that dead drift downward. But you added another video of a live fish to simulate a recovered fish. You simply had him out of the water too long for all the things you did to it.

Man that is a bit of a waste. I can understand the carcass but if the tunas good ,y? Not being smart here, but can you catch em without burley? Seems like cheating a bit.

I loved every bit of that vid except seeing the tunas get wasted like that! you can easily buy heaps of fish heads and frames to process for burley! shame to be catching tuna just to process them like that.

Soo many efforts just to catch 20lbs snapper, i cought few 20lbs snapper on surfcasting in auckland docks fishing, very easy park you car and cast right next to it..

How deep do you have to go for skippys
Depth isn't the main factor, its water quality, sea surface temperature and the amount of feed. In Jan/Feb they can be in 30m of water, but keep an eye out for birds, they will tell you where the activity is.

I've never seen such disregard for life. Slaughter all those fish just to make a chum. You can catch snapper without all that. I may catch some trash talk for saying something but my God tells me that we will be held responsible for the animals.
