I can see why people would be opposed to cutting the snare back like this. However, the pop he's getting from the increased attack is pretty awesome. I think I would have left the sustain alone but this would be great for getting a snare to jump out of the mix.
I would love this on toms!! Because it isn't threshold related, it would allow a ton of control for weak fills. Those fills that roll the drumsticks across the head can be a nightmare, and normally require some editing magic to make right again, but this plugin could save a ton of time! I may have to purchase this.
I don't think this is the same as a fast attack and/or release on a compressor and then a simple roll off gate. It's more like it is adding additional sound (in the form of transients) to the signal and producing an entirely new sound of sort. If you listen to the way it adds to the snare when the sustain is increased you'll notice there is a slight coloration to the tail of the sound (which I like). I could see using this a lot and with the sale running now... I think I'll go and grab it.
That's fine, Eamonn. @Jimijaymes: level-independent processing is impossible with gates and compressors. Their processing is always determined by a threshold setting. The TD processes everything equally from loud to quiet. That is the main technical difference here, and it gives different results.
true its just the sustain mode on the transient shaper is very similar to the sound you get if you play with the sustain and release of an amp envelope and the attack on the transient shaper sounds very similar to a low Decay setting on an amp envelope
Great video! If the signal is too hot going in why wouldn't you just turn the volume down in the mixer, i.e, before using the SPL TD? In my opinion the kik and snr overpower the mix, the guitar is brittle and bass is lost. I guess this is a demo, but not a good sounding mix
Because the fader doesn't control input gain, only post-plugin output gain. I personally use either the clip gain or trim plugin at the beginning of the chain to control input volume.
Awesome plugin, great sound. Im thinking of buying this. But as a legit question: I use alot of the Fabfilter Pro-G and Pro-C to achieve similar sustain reduction on drums. Apart from being easier, How does this compare to my current method if you could be bothered to explain in technical terms ?
@mrcgeraldes this is not so much about if YOU like the sounds of a certain processing result WE show here. The point is what the TD can do and how it works ... and yes, it can also kill in seconds :) !
You lowered the output stage of the plug in the signal is still being overloaded at the input stage you should have brought down the input gain on the channel in PT That's a big fail
Frequency Studios nah, I disagree. His input doesn’t appear to be clipping. But it’s possible that once the plugin is applied the gain increased. So he dials it down a little to bring it back like it was.
I'm pretty sure he ran his sexy silky voice through the transient designer...
I love this guy's voice!
I agree with that bro. Used it last night with the passeq eq on my drums and sine bass and it was beastly
Love this plugin, particularly the presets.
Thank you for the positive feedback!
Dang that voice though

I love this plug-in. Tested it out last night and I feel after I get used to it, it's gonna be my go to plug-in for 808s and live drums.

This guys voice man!

Who’s that behind that voice plz tell us brother
i used this on a bass sound yesterday wonderful plug in
Liked the processed kick, preferred the snare without the plug in.
The Voice is awesome!

sick for percussion on drum and bass
my go to 🔥🔥🔥🔥
🔥
Great plugin. My only complaint would be the lack of gain staging on the tracks. They should not be clipping at first.
@YukonDnB Please post an example if you can. We're always keen on hearing what else our friends, partners and customers do with our products.
The Transient Designer is now diamonds.
That was my very first thougt.
so do you have the kick and snare routed to a bus with any other effects applied and do you apply this before or after eq?

He didn't gain stage most likely.

Kickdrum: Shure Beta 52, Snaredrum: Shure Beta 57, Narration: Microtech-Gefell M930
you have so low voice! hehe
btw, very useful video!
so in a way its closer to being amp envelope?
When the voice is sexy as like the plugin 😂🤣

@teleworldshare The voice thanks you deeply.
excelente
Neumann microphone??
This was a good demo for the kick, but for the snare... maybe not as much.
Probably could but it would take alot longer be alot harder to get it right.

👍
surely youd get the same effect by gating and compressing?
OK, try and show us
Who is the man behind that voice?
Michael Nielsen kind a sound like KSHMR
Why? o_O
Is it the Devil speaking ??
annnnnnnnnnd narrator proximity effect
yeah i wont be buying this anytime soon i dont see any need for it as i can already do all i want with gates and parallel compressors
