I’m a 76 year old woman. I was a hippy who lived during the civil rights era, the Vietnam protests and very turbulent times. I was proud that we made progress in those issues and proud to be an American. Now, I find myself bawling my eyes out watching how ugly, hateful & racist so many of my fellow Americans are and makes me feel ashamed of being American. It just seems like a horrible nightmare that I want to wake up from! 😭

that doesn't really solve the problem if Congress and the Executive still appoint terrible and/or corrupt justices, term limits don't stop that, it just shortens their time in the Supreme Court. The root of this issue is that politicians choose them based on party lines and money is buying these judges. It is corrupt money and politicians that are the issue with no systems in place for checks and balances to enforce laws and ethics on these corrupt justices. Though I do we also need term limits.

The Supreme Court is appalling period. Open to corruption as we have all seen. The court should have equal judges from both parties and none of them should hold such an important position for life, they should serve terms and then have to vie with others to be picked again. What should be even more disturbing is that something this anti-democratic is not an option in most first world democracies. The verdict that a ruling party can manipulate voting districts for 'political' reasons is so offensive across Europe than most countries have independent bodies that draw the maps. Germany for example has a body formed after every election to evaluate the boundaries. Then again, most of Europe also avoids having judges that are affiliated to political parties...

My Governor is Republican. He's running again and I'm NOT voting for him for the first time. He's trying to force the hiring of a new Head of Education. The potential hire is from Florida, very young, comes from a history of Charter Schools and is under educated. The population of teachers is in an uproar. So, we have all agreed to vote for the Dem that is in the running. We figure the current Governor will be elected anyway but we want him to know he doesn't have everyone's support this time.
With the exception of our Governor, our State Government is solidly Dem so that's a good thing.
