    Henry Aaron and Johnny Bench greatly respected one another, I cried like a baby when I heard that he had passed. 😭
    I don't remember it well, but I got to see him and the Braves play the Reds at Riverfront Stadium in 1974, may he R.I.P. for eternity...

    A tremendous player who wasn't a jerk or showboat. He just went about his business and played the game the way it should be played.

    Wow! I did not think this would effect me as badly as this loss has. He will always be the king. Great baseball player and an even greater man. This is a loss for the entire country.

      Casey not just here in America. Hank was known Internationally as well. I saw dozens of social media tributes from Baseball fans in Canada, Mexico, Cuba, Japan and more. Mr. Aaron passing also got major global attention as well.

    So awesome to hear Johnny Bench talk about Henry Aaron. Made me smile. 2 class acts. Got to see Aaron hit #715 as a 9 year old boy on TV. Got to see Bench at Wrigley Field in '76 against my old hometown Cubbies. #RIP #HammeringHankAaron

    I watched Henry for many years as a kid and I got this feeling the first time I watched him in the sixties that he was more than just a player but pure class ! I actually tried to embody his style of playing with respect ! I wore his number at every level I played up to legion ball . As an adult playing fast pitch softball I wore 44 on my jersey . I woke up every morning at six o'clock to get the paper off the porch to look at the baseball scores of the Braves .
    I have only one MLB souvenir and it's a signed rawlings baseball from Henry Aaron ! Thank you Henry for being a hero to this kid ! God bless !

    Johnny was friends with Seaver, Sutton, Lasorda , Aaron , Morgan , Brock , Niekro . I can imagine what the past year has been like for him. Hang in there JB . When I was growing up, saying some catcher is ' better than Bench ' was like a punchline, something you'd say just to be silly. . Like saying ' bigger than the Beatles '

  • @Cincinnatus1869
    @Cincinnatus1869 3 года назад

    One thing every great team has in common is a good catcher . It's a necessity. I grew up about a half hour away from Riverfront Stadium and Bench was like a super hero to kids in my area. He was on TV shows and commercials, cereal boxes , he did things nobody else could do behind the plate . MVP, clutch hitter, champion. There was nobody better

    Got to see him play against the Cubs in Chicago. Atlanta rocked Fergie Jenkins in the first, essentially ending the game before my team even had their first at bat. Can't remember for certain but I think Hank had a HR that inning. For some reason, I remember Rico Carty absolutely did.
    In any event, I consider having seen Hank Aaron play as my brush with greatness.

    Goes to show how DUMB!! I am. I just finished watching Ken Burns documentry "Baseball." took me about two weeks to watch the whole thing. I knew that Hank Aaron hit a lot of home runs. He was the all time leader. But I did not know that Barry Bonds hit more. Pretty darn DUMB!!! aren't I.
