Music ruined a semi good video.
Alex Roy get over yourself. Jesus dude
Matt Close
I just love the hate on these comments.
Unwatchable because of the music
One of the most amazing things about Morgan I LOVE is, for all the work they do, a Morgan is relatively inexpensive. You know an Italian or German company build a car like the Morgan, it would cost easily twice as much...
Just one more thing Morgan figured out. Keeping weight down. Check. Building cars of wood and Aluminum. Check. keeping costs down without sacrificing quality. CHECK!
A LOT of smaller carmakers worldwide could take some notes.
Keep up the GREAT work Mr. Roy!! Love your videos.
What in the name of God is that bloody Terrible music. Stopped watching and I adore Morgan cars
Great company but rubbish presenter. Why do we see more of him in this production than the bloody company itself. Self promotion and importance seems to be a classic American trait, ironically, completely different to Morgan as a company. Thank god Drive has Chris Harris to add balance things. Please send Mr Harris to redo what is actually a very interesting story.
robinellard He seems american in everything but accent also scruffy. Yes, Chris Harris is a true pro.
Same with car SOS!... big guy always posing! adds nothing to the program
Turn your annotations on, the little comic bubble button on the YT player. The link should be in the top left of the video window. Or you can check the Live and Let Drive Playlist.
Great vid Alex, really good delivery and your genuine passion comes across really well. Didnt know they did tours, do you know if thats an owners club only thing or can anyone book?
Keep up the good work!
"in a world where car manufacturers strive for ubiquity, morgan strives for permanence. this is not about building the most, it's about building history" that's about the best summary of morganethics i've heard ... and from an american!
Just awesome how they still take the time and pride to do it right with style and function now a days here in the usa cars are so generic kudos
I always look forward to the Live and Let Drive videos, makes a nice change from the 'road test videos'. Keep it up Alex, you've got it right.
these are artists, this what the world needs to go back too.
Added annotations to the first part we did in the U.K. :-)
Always interesting Alex - keep it up!
Glad you got us a video on one of the best cars in the world!
A horrid and boring presentation of a fine motor company.
Hey, he's not Columbian, WTF?
:-D
I would LOVE to have a shop like that, all Red Brick.
part 1 in the UK is with Mr. Harris
Always loved Morgans. Gangster whips
13:26, Superdry is NOT a Japanese brand; it's a British brand trying to look Japanese.
Malvern is, for me, pure essence of England. The home-town of Morgan and of Elgar, that most English of composers - and the medieval Priory, a fine example of that most uniquely English of architectural styles, the 15th-century Perpendicular, which is home to a stupendous 1920s pipe organ. Go to Malvern, visit Elgar's birthplace and the Malvern factory, soak up the atmosphere. Likewise, come to beautiful Surrey, home of Ralph Vaughan Williams, McLaren, Gordon Murray, Caterham and others...
How about that it uses BMW powertrain and engine? Anyway in the previous episode about Morgan probably it was with Chris Harris when he tested the concept I said alot of bad things in the comments that it looks unfinished etc... Now in this episode the white one looks NUTS and I bet it's very well built and as Alex said they're very reliable. So my final word is that this kind of episodes with J.F. and Alex tells you so much more than just test drive which is everywhere on the network :)
This was actually a good episode. Well done.
I want to see v-twin engines in cars though. It would make sense to build a 1.6 litre V-Twin engine for a small hatchback rather than a 4 cylinder because the twin would have more torque and a broader power band. It would also be smaller, lighter, and probably cheaper to build, since it has half the parts. And imagine it with an aftermarket exhaust. Would put V8's to shame.
15:07 - in the past I've questioned your sincerity, but this puts me straight - sorry mate!
You convey here, in this short 30 second sequence, emotion, sincerity and true conviction that really comes across to the viewer.
Excellent piece.
You've received too many thumbs down, but i agree with you. Music too loud in places. Generally not a good mix. Something i've noticed across the series. I ground my comment with the fact that i'm sound editor.
3wheels $40,000 bucks WTF
...well buy a tricycle instead and save a quid or two....
Really great video. Alex Roy and Chris Harris are the two greatest auto journalists I've seen. They should rlly start a top gear like show with the same production values as these vids.
Reliable?
MOT history of the grey Morgan in video - VX12 DVC - It failed at just 19K - 30th April 2016 'Reason(s) for failure -nearside rear Suspension arm has excessive play in a pin/bush (2.4.G.2)

This was a few years back, shortly after I first read the Wired article on the 31:04 run. Probably early 2008. You were certainly going too fast for me to catch up, first of all, and second, the Wired article made you seem like a stone cold killer! I would have been too nervous, but after seeing a bit more of your true personality, if I catch you again, I certainly will take you up on the offer!
JF will have to be more objective and realize that your more unique approach to reviewing is highly entertaining as well as refreshing! You could shoot it both ways next time, and do two edits and compare...the old boring way or the priceless entertaining way that shows why it is still cool and enticing enough to evoke that desired emotion to exists in this market today. JF, you have to take more risks if you want to make the real big gains in your audience appeal.
I loved this vid, well done. I think the people who are annoyed with the cut scenes of Alex talking about the cars in the videos just dont like the style.
I for one get what you are doing with the production, it is not solely to be a narrative but to be conversational also. Atleast this is what I get from the cut scenes. This style works for involving the audience if you are talking facts...
It's true morgans are a life long car and passion. I'm 23 and have never, not had a morgan in my life. We've had morgans in our family for 30+ years and were never going to stop! We currently have 3 historic racing morgans a 1952 Flat rad +4 works car and two 1960s FIA +4 supersports replicas. I'm always going to own and drive a morgan and so will my children and there children! Long Live Morgan!!!
This is The Best video Alex Roy has ever made. His esoteric prose is in its home environment when there is a Morgan involved. It doesn't really fit in an Infiniti or a BMW 6, but his ridiculous claims seem so much more close to the truth when they is surrounded some something as equally esoteric as Morgan Motors. This is great. The thing that always turned me off to Morgan was how small they were, but when I saw Alex drive off in that 3 Wheeler, I felt a serious twinge of jealousy.
MAYBE i missed when they said it, are those r56 mini headlights?
If the Aero 8 had the headlights facing straight forward, set in the center of the fender it would have been more attractive to me. I want to buy one and change it. I also want to buy a 2007 645i and remove the duck's ass from the boot lid, smooth it out, more like a Porsche. I know I shouldn't, but If I could, I would.
If you make fewer than a certain number of cars a year, I believe it's 1200 but I could be well off the mark, the rules are alot laxer. The main reason for this in the UK has more car companies than any other country, most of them companies like Morgan making hand made cars that wouldn't otherwise be legal.
You take me too literally, if you have owned a tvr then you know even more than me how insane and awesome they are. I know someone who owns a sagaris and he says it's a fun but very unforgiving machine. Effectively a british viper in many ways, just trying to kill the driver 24/7, with some very imaginative ergonomics inside.
Shame Morgan cars seem to have descended to ugly blancmange squashed jelly moulds
Fantastic video Alex. I've really really enjoyed the style of the last few videos you've done!
And I once ran across Polizei 144 coming up 5N in California over the Grapevine - I tried to keep up for a few minutes but you were pushing 100 mph and I didn't have all the cool scanners and shit hehe.
Do you really need to be in front of a camera with you glasses on your head, your iphone in one hand and your hat in the other? Contrary to what you think, that doesn't make you cool.
Your doing a car documentary, not a holiday video of an American tourist in Italy.
but not necessarily a chimaera. I have gotten a ride in previously mentioned sagaris and that thing was an animal, and honestly a small guy like me fit in it reasonably well although I suspect taller folks might have trouble in it. Maybe I will wait till one of those are available.
Unfortunately, TVR won't be returning anytime soon. Smolenski, the Russian who owns the brand, recently said that he will not be restarting production for TVRs, and has no intention of selling the brand to anyone. To make it worse, he wants to put the TVR name on wind turbines...
My uncle had a TVR and he's not dead lol. Yeah they weren't always great cars but they were great to drive, if that makes sense? I loved their rawness and simplicity, plus they sounded amazing. And they were built about 5 miles from where I live.
Great video. There was a comment previously about visiting Rauh-Welt Begriff in Japan. I have met Nakai-san and been to the original RWB workshop, and I can tell you it is the PERFECT place to feature on Live and Let Drive or Tuned!! Make it happen DRIVE!
A bit, thats my biggest problem with buying a car I have never driven. Something could look good on paper(cadillac xlr) and then turn out to be crap in real life. That's why I was asking about the driving experience. Thanks for your time.
I am trying. On paper the chimaera should be a right blast. lightweight v8 rear drive sports car, very sort of standout car in canada. Which is why I'm asking what you thought of yours, and you haven't elaborated in the engine choice or any of that.
Alex!I think if you will stop making awkward pauses when you speek,it will sound more like you actualy know what you talking about. Not hating ,i realy whant Alex to do good.I hate to see all the hate he gets here!
P.S. I know i can't spell.Я Украинец!
You've deliberately avoided my question, which suggests that no, you haven't driven one. So how can you say they are garbage?
I suspect parts for these cars are scarce in California, which is why your neighbour would have another for a parts car.
Morgans have a "soul" to them that other cars don't have because they're nearly, if not entirely, handmade. Many other cars had that soul but automation and focus-grouped product planning have cut that soul out.
Morgan is the body of british traditional car manufacturing rather have one than one a red waste of space called Ferrari . but Super dry is a british company started in an industrial estate and not Japanese
Superdry isn't Japanese its actually a British company that has created a Logo / image that they are Japanese. please research before you step your foot in it , I like your videos but this twice on the trot you have done this
really need to fire your sound guy / girl / person, having background music up at the same level as the voice over is just way too basic to get wrong... plus the start music is a bit 'twee'... Other than that though, good show.
It would've been nice to see the head designer talk aerodynamics; regarding the shape of the Aero. It looks like a wing, ¿would it have its same aerodynamics &, you know, lift off at high speeds?
Using all caps makes your comment much more powerful, well done. I'm only expressing my opinion. I liked this video but this guy is so much in love with morgan he only sees the good qualities.
Don't know what model it is but: the white car in the back-ground is downright UGLY! what happened to Morgan! these products look not flavour of the '30s, but an ugly caricature, haw sad!
My money is on Shelsly Walsh, just up the road from the factory, and more than likely where the first Morgans were raced.
And it is also the oldest functioning race track in the world!
Good job Alex! Nice choice on picking morgan, a very innovative company that can be successful today and hold on to it's past, but you looked a little nervous there in the factory?
Top Gear is awesome but i Said best on RUclips not TV and Motortrend just sucks no offence.
Well, right now I'm driving an E36 M3 3.2L (european), guess that qualifies as a sports car. My opinion on Morgans is based purely on reviews, since I've never driven one.
Atah Boy Alex... You are finally making these about the passion for cars and abandoning ego... Keep this up and we wont hate on your videos anymore.... Good Job....
does it increase chassis rigidity? overall longevity? is it easier to replace then metal? im not shooting these guys down, personally i really like the way they look.
I don't understand the hate towards alex. he churns out great content, and I don't think there is one "live and let drive" I disliked. excellent video as always, alex.
Alex Roy's best work yet - great article done with character and the background music selection is spot on. Matt Humphries is a god - I want an Aero Coupe so badly it hurts!
The link to part one is annotated in the top left corner at the beginning of the video. You can get all our episodes in the Live and Let Drive playlist as well.
I'm hand made. I also used to be in pretty good shape and lovely. A checkup by the mechanic or something would probably be in order by now though..nice video :)
Don't know why people hate on Alex Roy. I've always seen him as a warm guy who likes to fuck around every once in a while. Great to see that side of him again.
I like the Morgans but I wish they would put some time into choosing wheels for these cars. It looks like they bought sets from Konig or something.
you mentioned a while back that you were planning to get a Morgan 3 wheeler, did you get it, is it still being built, did it fall through?
God I love morgan! I would love to own one!
Superdry is from Cheltenham, Gloucestershire, UK by the way, which probably fits with morgan better.
I mean .. Ferrari does almost everything in site.. but caughts fire..
Maclaren does almost everything insite.. not buy hand.. and its reliable.
I dream of owing a car factory with really cool 50's style robots with little antennas on their head, building me cars. Forget built by hand.
Sorry Alex, Super Dry is Japaneses in the same way the MX5 is British. Super Dry was founded and is based in the west country along with Morgan.
GREAT JOB ALEX! To be honest. Sometimes it seems like you phone it in! But this time, I got a real feeling for your passion. Thanks man!
When your on location, and actually talk about cars, it makes for a pleasant watch ( unlike the Iceland video) this is on another level
The music renders this completely unwatchable.
I actually like his smugness, it's part of his character as a host. It makes things fun to watch, that's my opinion of course...
Whats this car thing american ? Never heard of a car before .. ?
they are nice on a sunny day, forget about one in the rain, all these years and they still can't make it weather proof
Super dry is a british brand, the jpn thing is just marketing and the fact it's designed from japanese influences
And I suppose you've driven one, have you? Or are you basing your bigoted nonsensical opinion on Forza Motorsport?
Why on youtube mobile app does it only show 5 comments and repeat them over and over or is it just my phone?
Can you not see the yellow link in the top right corner of the screen at the beginning of the episode?
motortrend is more realistic
and top gear is simply the best
clarkson is awarded the best host for cars
In part 1 he met up with Chris Harris in Wales and they went driving in a blue Porsche and some Renault
Superdry is NOT a Japanese brand. It's owners are from Cheltenham, and Superdry launched in London.
what makes this more interesting is if you have read Alex's book, hitting on Charles' girlfriend.
I have no idea if Alex is telling the truth or making shit up anymore, is this factual this time?
Oh Sorry what? i feel to sleep when he started talking.. PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE fire him!!!!!!!!
This is UK Visit Part 2. Part 1 was Alex's video with Chris Harris in the 911 and Renault Cup Clio.
Any easier way to find part 1? Can't find it. What is it called?
I was wondering, do they use the headlights from the mini cooper? I think they look very alike...
It was - When Chris Harris Meets Alex Roy: U.K. Part 1 of 3
Link is at the beginning of the video.
nice but what about Wiesman thats even more reliable and drive even better. less heritage though.
Correction Superdry is a British brand ,inspired by Japanese street style and classic Americana
Great video, Drive is best Auto TV on RUclips anyone agree??
too much talking... i had to google morgan and to find other reviews to see these cars better
So motherfucking cool. I seriously want a Plus 8 so badly. Even a three-wheeler. Love them.
Well why didn't you say so? Hang on whats the chimaera like? I was considering importing one
