After all these years, I am still in love with these two. No offense to the dance teams of today, I like you as well but Torvill and Dean set the bar so high.
They certainly set the bar. Love them
No-one has ever bettered them and probably never will. They were unique, a one-off.
I wish there were more routines like this nowadays. No distracting vocals, just simple music to which movement is matched with perfection. How exciting it must have been to be there for this début performance.
They have the ability to set an unique mood during their performances. Stunning talents.
I really don"t understand any thumbs down this is so beautiful. I enjoyed this more than any other performance and that says so much for me.
The British Championships was so beautifully covered, bravo to the production crew! I'm hoping more gems from these competitions show up!

Absolutely flawless . I hope they received excellent scores for that , as they usually did around this time .
Who would've ever chosen Larry Adler's mouth organ version of Summertime and created such a soulful piece of choreography on ice other than Chris & Jayne? They didn't just revolutionize the Free Dance, they did it in the OSP too with this masterpiece.
Every movement is sheer perfection!
So graceful and skillful. The costumes are also brilliant.
For me they were always fantastic amazing the best ever.. original concise and so amazing well done to you both an absolute credit to skating for me you will always be the best....
This is the first time I've seen Summertime skated by Jayne Torvill and Christopher Dean in all 3 rotations.

I met them after being in love with them for decades and I was very disappointed but they are the best there will ever be . Chris's choreography is like no other. He is also still gorgeous.
Disappointed in what way?
As people I found them rude, especially Jayne. I noted Chris can no longer pronounce ' Nottingham ' and he seemed to think British audiences are stupid and unsophisticated compared with Americans . Jayne truly has forgotten she's ' Nelly from the deli'' , as she put it. They made my mother cry with their attitude . I watched them daily from being 6 years old into my 30s
I am 50 and watched because they came up in my feed . All my dvds I have given away . So they really did disappoint!

They skated beautifilly. They were truly blessed with talent.
They are so fun to watch. I get bored with the skaters of today. If only all of them can be as good as Torvil and Dean!

My favourite OSP from T&D. I actually prefer this dance to their more well known paso doble.
I love all their OSP's, - Blues, Rock & Roll, Paso Doble and Rhumba - I think they were even more brilliant than the freedances of the same competitive seasons.
@@denisej4813 Yes, their OSPs were absolutely stunning. This is my favourite one from them though. Then their paso doble and their rock & roll.

They should have perfect scores every time.
I think they kept shifting the bar upwards, so it was actually difficult to give them a perfect score in, say, the European Championships, as they might go and improve upon their performance a few weeks later in the Worlds!
I’m just re reading their biography and apparently there was a ‘loop’ at the end of each circuit in this championships that infuriated Lawrence Demmy and he insisted they remove before the European Championships but I’ve watched the version they did in Lyon and I’m struggling to find any difference
