Hi, it would have been good to have a true setup video for the Humax. Specifically to see how you connected to TV. (via hdmi probably) and how did you connect to internet. Was it through wifi or direct connection to your router. Would love to get rid of my sky box but I need it to watch live sports.
Hi, a question for you. I have sat internet via Big Blue which i just canceled due to the cost per month. I own the sat dish and the equipment and i now have a seperate internet box via mobile from Orange. i have a Humax feee sat box which was connected to my sat dish, will it still work for freeview tv when the big blue internet finishes in a couple of weeks time? Or do i need to connect it to my orange box? Im really confused as what i need to do :(
I have a Sagem PVR624DT from 2008, and there is no series link. I use internet players more these days because they're more accessible without fiddling about with remotes and menus. Useful for fast forwarding adverts though.
Have just switched from virgin to sky, and now I'll be switching to this in 11 mths, many thanks, the few extras with sky just doesn't justify the subscription. Merry Christmas and have a great New Year.

Felt black mailed in to sky! I had £15 for Sky basic TV (HD) and after 12 months they up the price to £35!! I called to complain and they gave me super discount which would bring the price down to £20. So i decided to get rid of sky finally but could not find a replacement box. So Thanks

Hi great video I purchased the same system but I'm a bit confused over the olympics I've been getting this message when pressing the red button on the human remote " Your TV needs an update to access this BBC Service. Update your TV apps through your app portal or store ( and TV firmware if required ). " the message box has a yellow dot in the right bottom corner with menu next to it but if i press the yellow button nothing happens Ive updated my samsung TV but I'm not sure why this matters as i am watching via the human not the tv Be very grateful for any advice
I love Sky especially their new Sky Q Box. I do respect your opinion on the TV and Broadband company. It's your call if you want to change over. Although I think that Sky (currently) is worth paying for every month. Our family got a really good deal with upgrading (As we have been Sky Customers for a very long time) Their is just so much you can access.

Hi J Jarry - thanks for replying. What do you gain from 2 inputs? From my limited understanding you can record on 2 channels while watching a 3rd as against recording 1 channel while watching another on 1 input. I was told when you split the input into the recorder you will be able to record off 2 channels at the same time.
I've had this same box for a few months now. I bought it after seeing this review! Not a single regret either. They have extended the On Demand functions too, as I can cast RUclips from my Android phone to it and use a Netflix account. I upgraded from an old Foxsat HDR+ box and this Humax is worlds ahead in speed and reliability.

Hi I bought a humax like yours But I cannot get any signal from my satellite dish, I hear that I need a part for the centre of the dish. My SKY satellite dish is 11 years old... It says signal too weak

Good luck with the firmware updates from Humax Dave! our previous Gen. foxsat Humax box is laggy as anything in the menus and EPG but we never had any firmware updates for it and now that the new freetime versions are out, I doubt we ever will...
Brilliant video :) I got rid of Sky over 10 years ago for the same reasons as yourself, but the main reason that pushed me to do so, was every now and again (More again than anything) It was was cutting recordings which was infuriating!! So I called them and wrote to inform them that I wished to cancel my subscription, after numerous times of calling support, but getting absolutely no joy, but when I was saying my bye bye's, they were tripping over themselves offering me deals upon deals to keep me as a subscriber, but I had enough. So I bought a Humax. I've had the same model since then, and only minutes before I watched your video, I ordered the very same one as you, which I'm looking forward very much to getting it. I live in Ireland, and a number of years ago, they shut down the analogue transmission, so in order to get the Irish stations now, we have what's known as Saorview, which is a digital transmission, but still pulled in via TV Ariel. I don't miss Sky at all, and probably haven't since the day I started using the Humax. Thanks again for sharing your video. Wishing you many years of happiness with your new Humax Freesat Box. Hi David, i dont know if anyone has mentioned this to you, or if you have heard it through the freesat news section on their website but you can actually get Drama on freesat 162 i think it is and it sometimes shows some of the programs that are on Gold. and you never know that maybe if enough people switch to freeview and freesat we might start to see gold and dave moving onto more of these free to air platforms.
I did the same thing during the summer. Cancelled sky and got that brand new Freesat box (you can check my unboxing video on my YT channel) and I don't regret anything !! I find the SD quality better on Freesat. HD is as good. The Freesat mobile app is really easy to use. I know you upload that video more than a month ago so I hope you're still enjoying the box as much as I like it. Personally I find myself watching more good shows from bbc or itv than I was with sky. I also have a Hulu sub to get my American tv show fix haha Nice video !

It's been 26 years since I ditched Sky! I just download content on my mobile phone and stream it to my wifes computer, which is plugged into the TV HDMI socket. A few years ago I bought a motorhome with a Sky satellite receiver, I just ignored it and got a router and 2TB NAS with DLNA server. DLNA compatible Samsung smart TVs can browse media libraries and play most formats (Sharp TVs with DLNA renderers can't play squat). The cheap router can manage the TV in the bedroom, another in the living area and a tablet/phone in the bathroom, all streaming different videos. In the years after we got married before analogue TV was turned off, I used to work as a truck driver, driving a Scania hauling refrigerated trailers. My wife had a portable TV sat on the raised surface between the seats, plugged into an inverter. All I had was a radio ribbon antenna cable tied under the wind deflector on the roof. We didn't even have a signal amplifier and my wife used to watch TV as we drove all over the country. Try doing that with digital terrestrial TV, it'd be unwatchable!
Well done for getting over 100,000 subscribers on your last channel, I love sky as I watch the sport all the time and the wife likes to watch other channels too. But if it's not for you then all is good, You gained alike and a new subscriber.
Just out of curiosity.. If the HDD inside dies, is it possible to replace it easily or would it need some special format to be compatible with the Freeview box itself ?

Zgemma box and a 1tb harddrive, would be cheaper and you can get builds that look exactly like sky, and before you say "they are only used for cardsharing" there not they are a great free to air box!
great video. we cancelled our sky multi room subscription and got the previous humax freesat freetime box as the wife only watched corrie and eastenders this was over a year ago and i think the humax as more or paid for itself. i only wish that freesat had the same channel lineup as freeview like dave or dmax etc.... we still have sky as our main box at £38 per month not quite ready to cancel this yet but might downgrade the package.

You won't be able to record anything or pause live TV on a Sky box with no subscription, so in that situation you're better off with Freesat

You can't split the signal. You need a sky dish with a 2nd output. To Record.

Most should watch. This one got very slow over a few weeks though.
