The Dolphins are signing OBJ as a possession WR. In the McDaniel system, Tua throws with anticipation to points on the field and the Dolphins covet OBJ's route running and hands to move the chains. This is not the young OBJ. The only significant YAC I saw OBJ gain at BAL was on crossing routes.
Reportedly, OBJ left higher offers on the table and took less money to play in Miami with McDaniel and Tua. The base salary is $3m and the other $5.25mm are incentives. The Dolphins now have the deepest WR room in the NFL and because of this depth, unless Cheetah or Penguin misses significant time, OBJ will not gain most of these incentives.
