    Hands down to one of the best X-Men movies ever made. We got Patrick Stewart and Ian McKellen playing the older Professor X and Magneto and James McAvoy and Michael Fassbender playing the younger Professor X and Magento. And Magento is the father of Quicksilver, Scarlet Witch, and Polaris in the comics.

      No, they didn’t get enough screen time each. The characters in the future were more like cameos and even this reviewer said he didn’t know who certain characters were. They’ve done better so there weren’t so many characters without names or development.

    Finally! A reacter picks the Rogue Cut. Glad you liked it.
    Except for her cameo at the very end in the fixed future, Rogue was completely cut out of the film so they never go to rescue her, so they never explain how the sentinels find them for the final battle. Mystique also never shows up at the school to have her moment with Beast. Several other scenes have little extended moments, too. I love this version and can't watch the theatrical anymore. It just isn't complete.

    Oh yeah, there's a point in the Quicksilver introduction where the mother tells the little girl to go bug her sister and she goes "But she bugs me!"

    Like I always say to reactors: I love this movie, I think it's the perfect ending to the XMen franchise, so glad they never made any other X men movies after this one! hehe
    Anyway loved your reaction and your excitement about everything that was happening, Storm was seriously underused in these movies honestly. The ending with all of the cameos is brilliant, when you were like "too bad Jean isn't here" just seconds before her appearance lol.
    I watched the animated tv series growing up and I don't really remember much except that my favorite characters were Beast and Storm. I'm glad they chose Nicholas Hoult to play young Beast, he is one of my favorite actors.

    I’ve been a Marvel fan for so many years now, mostly X-Men, and I cried during the ending the first time I saw it out of happiness. I was really happy with the way they did Iceman’s abilities where he finally got to use his ice to slide around on. This is my most favourite X-Men film of all of them so it was great seeing your reaction to it, especially since it’s The Rogue Cut.

      Nope. The first was the best because it was new and different. It was also aligned with the comics. I’ve read every one of those comics numerous times because my father collected boxes of them. This one was decent because of the effects, but the story was jumbled in places which ruined the integrity of the story.

    I wish this movie had addressed the following issues regarding the original timeline like:
    -How and when did Mystique escape government captivity once they've taken her DNA?
    -Who originally helped Magneto escape from the plastic prison underneath the pentagon? (He was with Xavier when they meet Jean Grey during X3's flashback scene)
    -How did Xavier snap out of his depression long enough to meet Jean in X3 and rescue Cyclops in X-men Origins: Wolverine?
    FINALLY....
    -Why is Wolverine in New York in 1973? (He's supposed to be fighting in the Vietnam war with Sabertooth).

    Fun Fact, the “Eff off” line was in the original final First Class script and then was ad libbed by Jackman in First Class to “Go Eff yourself” because Jackman felt he would say the latter not the former, so then Charles X here then references it back to Jackman’ Wolverine but based off the original line in the final script of First Class.

    Days of future past takes place in the future 2023
    And they travel back in time to 1973. So it’s basically a sequel/ prequel lol.
    A new timeline is created since Wolverine created it by going back in time and changing events.
    X men apocalypse takes place in the new timeline in 1983 which is a sequel/prequel
    Sequel because it’s in the new timeline and it takes place in the past of the new timeline lol
    Anything before 1973 still happens.. x men first class still happens since it took place in 1962. Origins: wolverine took place in 1979 so anything before 1979 still happened such as wolverine in the wars.
    Everything after 1973 is erased such as origins (1979), X1, X2, Last Stand, The wolverine , and days of future past (dark future)
    Dark Phoenix, Deadpool , The New Mutants, Logan and Deadpool 2 all take place in the new timeline

    The version without Rogue Kitty stays, but she's bleeding and suffering and struggling to hold on.. it just raises the stakes of the final battle. Iceman dies trying to hold off the Sentinels for a few more seconds when they break into the inner sanctuary, during past Magneto's speech you get to see him die along with Colossus and Blink and Bishop. Bishop - my X-Men fan friend's favorite character - he can absorb and rechannel energy like a battery, sort of like Sebastian Shaw, that's why it took him a few extra moment for the Sentinels to overload and 'splode him.

    Years ago when something was Unrated or Directors cut, it used to actually mean something. It meant the directors original vision was in this film or this film contained scenes the MPAA told them to cut to get PG13 or even an R rating.
    Keeping in mind using F Bombs too many times puts you into R territory and even some gore or special effects could put you up into the NC17 or X range, without the necessary cuts.
    But at some point, studios started adding any small amount of time or a single line change to a movie which altered it from the MPAA rated version. Which then considers the movie as "Unrated" as it never went to the MPAA. Then the studios could market it as a different cut of a movie to make more money.
    So it doesn't always mean more edgy humor or more gore or violence when a movie is unrated. Key things to look for are vastly different running times or any specific mentions of differences a movie description might have to the theatrical.
    I know there was a while I was super into getting unrated/directors cuts of movies and they got me with these phony "unrated versions" that were literally no different than one character looked at another for a whole ten seconds more in a scene or two. Or a single line change that was a meaningless change.
    It might not be as big an issue in this streaming day and age though. Just a notice for you to be mindful of what unrated actually might mean for a movie.

    The Rogue cut has Rogue in it. She's not in the regular version at all. Yes Peter is his son in this movie and also in the next one with Apocalypse where they directly address it. They don't mention Wanda even though it shows Peter's sister there in the final scenes so you would think that it's her. This movie was my favorite of all the full team movies. I do like Apocalypse but this one is better. This movie was also specifically designed to reset the time line and undo all the mistakes that were done in X-Men 3.

  • @Lucas-jx8jg
    @Lucas-jx8jg 3 года назад

    The main difference between this and the theatrical cut is that they don't go rescue Rogue, Kitty just has to deal with being injuried lol. There are also some extended scenes, and minor stuff like the make out scene between Mystique and Beast, Mystique destroying Cerebro, the Wanda easter egg when they go visit Quicksilver, etc. There's a deleted scene that didn't even made into either cuts in which Storm kisses Wolverine too, implying they got together off-screen during the time jump. You should watch this movie's bloopers btw, the full thing is on RUclips and it's hilarious!
    And yeah, what happens in the end basically erases all the other previous movies from the timeline except for First Class, so Apocalypse is kind of a soft-reboot.

    My only really problem with this movie is that they had Wolverine looking arguably the best he has in the whole series - his future look with the awesome suit and silver streaks in his hair + the adamantium claws - and we never get to see him in action against the sentinels. Only in the past with those damn bone claws.

    Magneto is the father of Wanda and Peter Maximoff (though in the comics when Marvel was having issues with Fox they retconned it I think to make this not true anymore?). Mystique and Azazel were the parents of Nightcrawler - who I assume was given up for adoption or something in Germany at some point in the 60s or 70s. (I might have been reading too much into it but watch her reaction when she finds the autopsy photo of Azazel)

  • @whade62000
    @whade62000 3 года назад +1

    Magneto IS the parent of Qucksilver & Scarlet Witch in the comics but there's been some flip-floping about it because they are associated with the X-Men AND the Avengers. When Marvel was near bankruptcy it sold off a lot of rights to its characters EXCEPT for the Avengers. That's how we got Spider-Man from Sony and -Men from 20th Century Fox basically. So that made them mess with the lore and invent other parentage to keep them within THEIR property. Of course then the success of the MCU let them bounce back and regain a lot of those rights.

    As they came out- I went to see every X-men film but stopped after Apocalypse. For me after so many years of getting into the early films and then the 2 Wolverine films and then the 'Powers that be' deciding to do the Pre-quels so I got on board with it given some of the cast. After watching this one the first time...it really just screwed with my head and everything I knew from ALL the previous films. 😖😵😵 I mentioned it on my FB and a friend of mine said that - Oh well that was sorta their way of rebooting it and just deciding- everyone was back. 😦😳 It in some ways felt like a betrayal of everything the fans were put through in all the other films. Not saying I didn't want some form of a happier ending. I have watched the theactrical version until now, I never knew there was an extended one. I later got to liking this film in some ways. My favorite part was watching Hugh get up from the bed, maaaaan...the women in the theater were swooning and I head a few saying- OhhhLaaawd! That cracked me up lol. I also love the whole Quicksilver - segment of breaking Erik out. Mind you it did kinda confuse me when they brought a whole different version of QS and adding Wanda to that side of the Avengers Universe. Anyways, I did go see- Logan even though I just kneeeeew I was probably just not gonna like it. And I was right. It just had me confused in many ways and while I'm glad he finally was able to rest in peace, I hated seeing him as anything but a strong cool man. 😢 About a year after Dark Pheonix came out I caved and watched it on Tv, I didn't like it either. I'm fully done with the X-men area and Marvel needs to let them go. They've beaten that rug to shreds and time to burn it. 😤😒

    OK the Rogue Cut is not just longer or more scenes. It makes more Continuative sense. Believing that Kitty, to all her strength & credit, but she would not be able to slowly bleed out for over an hour or more sitting upright with her arms held chest high in the air long enough to complete the mission. She would have lost enough blood within the first 30 min unless they cauterized the wound, where she would not have been able to handle the strain without it causing a compounding effect to her breathing, so showing us what happened to the X-Manor. Giving us a Beloved Characters return & A Cheeky but heartwarming nod for both us and logan himself that he isnt alone. Was truly Perfect. Rogue Cut should have been the Original. I know we know mutants can do astonishing feats but usually these films are not ignorant to biological facts. Jean would have died in 2 if not for her Deus Ex Machina that was the Pheonix Protecting her vessel from Mortal Harm. other than that, we have seen that even though your Faster than light or sound you will still not save everyone & even if you do, some Damage cannot be fixed without Further Harm.

    - X-Men First Class (1962)
    - X-Men Days of Future Past (the events of 1973 with wolverine)
    - X-Men Apocalypse (1983)

      It depends on what type of time travel story was used in the film and the audience interpretation. Option one it erased the original trilogy and most of Xmen Origins Wolverine from existence or option two it simply created another universe while the original timeline still exists so it is a multiverse. Since Marvel ended up giving the original Days of Future Past comic it's own universe/timeline in it's multiverse it can be assumed that the same thing occurs with the X-Men movie franchise.

      That and the flashback scenes in the Wolverine (where he saved Yashida from the atomic explosion) is also still continuity.
      Although, we know from Wolverine's cameo in Apocalypse that the weapon X experiment still happened and Cyclops' story is nearly identical to the one in Wolverine Origins. The only thing erased is the Wolverine vs. Deadpool fight scene because obviously, everyone hated that version of Deadpool.

    The Flash is faster than Quicksilver. The Flash in the comics has done some crazy things while Quicksilver hasn't. The Flash has his own comic book series while Quicksilver pretty much appears in either The Avengers or The X-Men comics as a bit player. The Flash is older than Quicksilver in the comics. The modern version of The Flash appeared in Showcase #4 1956 while Quicksilver appeared in The X-Men#4 1964. The original Flash Jay Garrick appeared in The Flash Comics #1 1940.

      @MKF30 3 года назад

      @@goldensuzaku The Speed Force actually is his source of power and speedsters in general, they don't generate it but it fuels them rather. It wasn't even a thing until 94 during the Waid run when Wally West took over for Barry Allen when he died during Crisis. Then they wrote it that that is the reason for why Speedsters can move at insane speeds in DC, not necessarily the reason for their how they got fast but what fuels them. Example, Barry Allen and Wally West both got into a chemical accident with lightning striking them. It was later explained that the lightning was the speed force besides the chemicals.
      Jay Garrick's origin is different with Mercury(God of Speed) and others so on and so forth. Reverse Flash has his own speed force called the negative speed force. So technically the Flash didn't create the speed force more so it created him, originally Flash was just a fast character but got more abilities, explanations and such via the speed force later on in the canon.

    I really like this movie. But I don't understand giving Kitty Pryde the Timetravel power. She doesn't have them in the comics and it really doesn't match with her intangibility powers.

      This is pretty much my biggest problem with the movie. I like the film, of course, still.
      It wouldn't be so bad if you could somehow enhance a "phase thru matter" power to some "psychic throwing somebody's consciousness into their own past self" power. But that isn't a logical next step to her power at all.
      I'd rather them done something like enhance the Professor's power (at least his powers are psychic already) or just made it Bishop's power, in the way they change mutants powers for the movies anyway. He is new to the series in this movie, without established powers like Kitty's. At least Bishops story in the comics is time travel related.

    The only reason this gets a NR rating is because the Rogue Cut was never released in theaters. Basically, Rogue was entirely cut from the theatrical version because her angle wasn't entirely necessary to the plot. Kitty still gets slashed by Wolverine, but she holds on until the end and Charles, Bobby, and Eric never go to rescue Rogue.

    • @loudboy317
      @loudboy317 3 года назад

      I think Rogue's plotline was absolutely necessary, Her powers are what contributed in the Sentinels adapting to any mutant powers and her rescue led to a severed sentinel arm attached to the X-jet which is how the Sentinels found the X-men.

    • @glennwelsh9784
      @glennwelsh9784 3 года назад

      @@loudboy317 Well they were able to completely remove her from the film before it was theatrically released without anyone noticing and without interrupting the overall story, so that immediately proves you wrong.
      No one was wondering how the Sentinels learned to mimic or adapt to mutant powers. That was all chalked up to Trask's research on Mystique's DNA, which was the main driving force of their time travel plan. And absolutely no one noticed a severed Sentinel arm attached to the X-Jet, since the only times you even see the X-Jet in the theatrical version is when they land in China at the beginning and when they blow it up at the end.
      Good thing you're not a film editor.

    • @loudboy317
      @loudboy317 3 года назад

      @@glennwelsh9784
      You are incorrect.
      The Sentinels can't mimic or adapt to mutant powers based on Mystique's DNA alone because everyone knows that she can only transform herself into anyone but she can't copy other people's powers. Plus, when the first trailer for Days of Future Past was released, it featured footage of Magneto and Iceman helping Rogue escape from the x-mansion. Everyone noticed that scene was missing from the final film which is why they all begged for the Rogue cut in the first place.
      You're no film editor either.

    Thos movie does deserve its praise, but there was only one glitch in it. The age of Stryker didn't line up. If this was in the 70's, then Stryker should have looked closer to the age from Origins:Wolverine. Because this would be right before Logan got his bones coated with adamantium, and his memory wiped after meeting stryker.
    And no one ever picked up where Mystique left off at the end, pretendingcto be Stryker.

    • @loudboy317

      @Akbar Shabazz-Jenkins are you asking from a writer's standpoint or from the standpoint of a nitpicking overclever audience member? I mean from a writing standpoint I feel all those questions are obvious... and above when I said that adding Rogue in wasn't necessary to the story I meant this from a writer's standpoint. She added nothing to the main thrust of the storyline or to develop the primary characters, and her part was super easy to write out. Actually makes more sense with her not there.
      From a writer's standpoint, Magneto is one of the main characters in the story so writing him out would not have serviced the story. And as for Charles killing Trask... probably because they wanted the movie to happen.
      From the nitpicking audience member standpoint... I'd say that the characters knew Raven had already had a falling out with Charles at this point in her life and so would be unlikely to be convinced by him and Hank alone. And Chuck didn't kill Trask because... he's not a murderer who just kills people preemptively for future crimes? I find it odd how nitpickers often expect characters to act like mindless logic machines and not emotional fully-fleshed-out human beings, particularly when it comes to killing other characters. Of course there are many other plans that they could have implemented that may have worked or worked better, like maybe going back to the 60s and trying to convince Raven not to go with Magneto then when you still had a decade to do so, but, what they did was the one they came up with, so... they tried to make that one work. This plan had a shorter time table for success, higher immediate stakes, more conflict between the characters and thus more drama, etc... so... made perfect sense from a writing standpoint.
