Watching someone, and I mean this in the nicest possible way, who doesn’t really know what they’re doing, is brilliant. Experienced people always take it for granted that we know the simple stuff, when often we don’t. This is a brilliant guide for people doing their first van. 👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻
Shaun..well done for putting the conduit under the new floor ..Im an electrian and wondered why self builders dont do this ..remember to also do the same to the sides of the van ..always handy ! Thanks for the vid ..Enjoy yr Sunday
I would like to say how I admire your perseverance in getting this van build done I would love a van like this to get away from it all all the best mate looking forward to the final build.
Nothing better than watching a bit of DIY on a Sunday morning, I tend to use sticks like sh*t, very good even if the timber is wet. Looking great already 👌 👍
Great van build, Shaun. My wife and I are guilty of being one of your silent subs over the last few months. Think we have been through your entire back catalogue of videos and really enjoyed them. We only live on the Devon/Cornwall border and hugely enjoy seeing you making the most of our little part of the world. Also we share a trying for a baby nightmare with you guys. After 5 years we finally got out happy ending. Really happy/excited for you guys. Keep up the good work. Glad to see your subs going through the roof. Hopefully see you cruising the rurals of the southwest soon. Ben & Vic
Your dad gave you the same advice as I would. Bring the floor right to the door. You can always pick up a folding step stool to make it easier for shorter legs to get in. Jon in rural BC, Canada
Am enjoying watching you build your new van, you are so clever. Bless your Dad when you were trying to explain. Thanks for another great video Shaun, cheers 😊
Really enjoyed watching I thinks it's so exciting seeing the van slowly have its make over I've seen how some vans even have beds on a pulley so the bed is out of the way when not in use which is amazing 😀
Wow, 2 videos this week! Yay! 🥰🙌 Glad you got some paddle boarding in & got your floor in. Love seeing you start with bare bones to see the process, so inspiring! 💚🙏
This is giving me a real insight into the "possibility" of doing the same thing myself I really am intrigued as to how you are doing this "IF" I do this myself, much love on the forthcoming new addition to your family Shaun and good luck 🙂
Great work dude, the condute is such a good idea well done 👍 like is we have just been insulating under the bed and we never claim to be professional van builders we just research and crack on best way 👍 hope all is good with your wife and baby, keeping it all crossed x
Glad to see the new van build starting, I’m one week into full time car life and contemplating some permanent fitted storage units come summer, alas my diy isn’t nearly as good as yours, so goodness knows how it will work out lol
Loving the van build, and great to see you working it out (with help from your dad ;-) You need a sticker for the back door - no tools left in this van overnight! Good to see your cheerful thumbs up ... do watch out for the temptation to cut corners with the jigsaw / safety. I'm not great at this but have all digits and only a few scars ... Good luck to you and Kate, I hope all goes well and you adjust to your change in sleep patterns, not to mention the extra responsibility ... I have used expanding foam 'plasterboard' adhesive before - after it not sticking I re-read the instructions - making sure the surfaces were damp, then waiting until the adhesive formed strings was the key ... so if you find unusual instructions on glue, it could be there for a reason! I guess sound deadening needs to be stuck properly to do it's job, so maybe you can get time to drive the van before and after fitting it to make sure it has made it a bit quieter All the best with your build, especially after it becomes a lower priority!
Your doing a grand job Shaun ✊👌👏... always a breath of fresh air to watch and I'm sure your going to help a lot of first time van conversions do a great job 😁. Thinking of you both over these coming days 👶🙏💝😘
Brilliant video buddy. To cut down on the dust from the insulation board you can just cut it with a Stanley knife and snap the board, its cleaner for you and just as fast, faster really as you don't have to clear up lol Loving the series buddy
Enjoyed this very much your like me a compulsive cleaner, great to watch. I have the same caulking gun I bought mine from Screwfix and I use their sausages in it for glue sealants etc. They are considerably cheaper than Amazon if you look on line .Keep up the great videos enjoying the build.
Absolutely loving this build video even more so than your usual stuff and that is always amazing , so looking forward to the vans progress man i am hooked cannot wait to see the next one mate
Great job. Learning by doing is a good method, especially if you have someone to ask along the way 😊 Most things I am good at are learnt by doing, failing trying again and searching for help 😅
I had to skip it😂🤣😂, i work on the sites and see apprentices do this all the time thinking its going to be quicker. One slip and it would've been the first time somone has past out watching a RUclips clip 😂🤣😂. Enjoyed the build all the same👍
You clearly put a lot of thought into each stage of your work Shaun so well done you. If you are using B&Q Penryn my bro in law works there and he could get you little discount on materials. ✌
That’s really good to know Sid. Would he know who I am if I went in there or so I have to shout out at the top of my lungs “IS SID’s BROTHER IN LAW HERE????” 😂
@@LoveSundays 😆Fair point. Ask for Adrian. He is a friendly outgoing guy full of banter. Explain I said he could get you some discount I'm sure he will help you. 👍
I’m loving learning as you go! Very amusing with you trying to explain to your Dad 😂 definitely think you should add a step of some kind, maybe some sort of manual pull out one underneath? Ask your Dad, he’ll most likely know what to do. Much love to Kate and hope she is resting as much as possible as she won’t be getting much sleep now or when baby is here. Tell her to invest in a V pillow! Great video again as I have breakfast on a Sunday morning
Fab video once again. For 25mm celotex you can use a sharp kitchen knife - the handsaw and jigsaw have serrated blades so tend to tear the insulation. Similar to the home make sure you have air flow or the dreaded condensation will hit you 😣 Good luck and good luck with the baby too ❤️
hey just thought you could put a pull out step and when not in use it can be tucked away under the van..... another van user did this awhile ago, think it was "Those Happy days". Liam and Janine Day..... yes they did a step and it went under the van when not in use..
Coming along nicely Shaun, I am interested in the plastic bottle insulation to see how that goes. Good luck with the soon to come birth mate, hope all goes well for you all.
There is no reason to run battens on the floor. In my last 3 vans I just placed 25mm celotex onto the metal floor and laid the T&G flooring on top. I glued the T & G together and the secured it at the sliding side door and back doors and it never moved. Remember that the raised bits of van flooring are closely spaced enough so that the T & G won't sag - 18mm T&G is good for at least 400mm centres.
Good effort, if you can dynamat the floor, wheel arches and cab floor. You can also dynamat the underside of the bonnet and door panels. Will Make for a much quieter ride
You’re a very tidy worker. This also gives me hope that anyone with a few quid could attempt converting a van. Wish I had the guts, and the cash. BTW, favourite part of this episode “Choo, Choo”, lol.
I love watching this coming together, wonder what the recycled plastic bottles insulation looks like as my duvet & pillows are all filled with recycled plastic bottles, very soft & warm & resembles down filling but without the cruelty. Look forward to seeing you soon but possibly a while after the baby arrives by the sound of things!
Thanks for sharing this. I think I might have to do this. I will have to pull up the floor, because they tried to take the tyre off (underneath my Ford Connect) but they couldn't because someone screwed the floorboards down over the bolt that releases it!!!! Urgh. My summer project I think. K

Well said... it's encouraging, but he is competent with his hands.
Yea some van build videos I’ve watched don’t talk in everyday persons language do they 😂
My wife and I are in the process of buying our first ford transit to kit out. Your videos are proving extremely useful! Thanks for the content.
