I have been stitching since I was in my early teens...now 63 years young! A few years ago I got into card making. Recently I happened upon one of Jennifer's videos on stitching on paper and I was immediately hooked. Nothing better than combining two of my favorite hobbies! Thank you Jennifer for these videos. Guess I am on my way over to Spellbinders for the new release ... I am not afraid to admit that I have full set syndrome 😊 ... gotta have them all, lol. Your cards are amazing! 💕
Thank you for sharing this. I have seen many videos showing these stitching dies where the creator states there is only one way to stitch. I realize they were trying to make the dies less intimidating for folks not confident in stitching, but at the same time it made the dies less versatile. There is no wrong way to stitch if you like the results! Thank you for showing so many possibilities. Very inspiring
I always forget how relaxing and easy stitching on paper can be until I do it again! It always looks so beautiful, and as if it took a long time to do. Your cards are all fantastic! I love both joy designs, but think I favor the blue. But they are both lovely. You always add extra touches to make them treasures. Thank you for all you do to bring creativity and kindness to our world. I have been personally touched by your kindness, and I am a complete stranger. You are indeed a gem in this world! Stay safe! 💙🙏🏽😌
These stitched cards are beautiful. I love stitching on cards as well on Aida cloth/pierced plastic. I’ve been doing cross stitching for almost 40 years. I’m so glad it’s getting introduced in paper crafting. I love the tip about criss crossing the stitches for a different look. Great video.
Thanks, Jennifer for this video! I love ALL your videos! You got me hooked on stitched cards, I really love doing them, so I really appreciated your different ideas in this video. I've taught my sister-in-law about them too and she is also enjoying this new way of making cards extra special. Thanks!
I started my card making hobby about 30 years ago by sewing with metalic thread. I made a cactus with red berries for my 1st stitched christmas card. Thank you for this video. Brings back many happy memories.
I love the stitched cards and the many ways you demonstrate how to use them. I hate watching TV but since my husband loves it I now stitch cards to pass the time. Thank you for sharing your talent. Blessings
Beautiful! Spellbinders has been absolutely knocking it out of the park lately with their products, especially their stitching dies. I cannot resist buying all their stitching dies.
Jennifer, I would like to take a moment to say thank you for all your inspirations! Plus a special thank you for inspiring me to give this stitching on cards a try! I have to say I love it!!! Many years ago my mother taught me how to embroidery as a young child. I love it then and still do. But thanks to your inspiration I can now combine my love of cardmaking and embroidery together into one. Thank you from the bottom of my heart!!!
I was resisting the stitching on cards, but Spellbinders dies got me hooked. It goes much faster than I expected. These new ones are so pretty. Thanks for the creative suggestions!
Jennifer, I have found with metallic thread it is easier to feed the cut ends through the eye of the needle then hold it until I complete the first two stitches, that will anchor the thread so it does not slip out the eye of the needle. Hope that helps. I am enjoying your videos so much. Thanks for all your help, encouragement and inspiration. Stay safe, stay cool. MaryLisa
You have me suddenly wanting to stitch and try these great ideas out! Thank you for always showing us how to change things up and stretch our supplies !❤️
@Jennifer McGuire Ink • Jennifer: Thanks for the tip on how to use metallic thread with these dies. Anyone who has used these threads in a machine knows they can be challenging. I'm not sure it would have occurred to me to just repeat the stitch to get better coverage because that is so much the opposite of any other needlework I do. I also loved the demo of the stitched cover plate dies. Seeing their versatility really helps, as did the rectangle over the "JOY" stitched die. Thanks for all your hard work to bring us these beautiful, creative cards. 👍
Thanks for validating my ideas. I love it when professional crafters demonstrate similar ideas to mine in a video; makes me feel like I know what I’m doing. A “HELLO” stitching die was in one of Spellbinders Club Kits. When I first saw it I thought, “No. Hard pass.” Because the die stacked the letters in “HELLO” in a way that makes me uncomfortable. But then I got it in my head to divide the die cut up so that I could use the letters in a straight line. Made the die usable for me. I’m so happy to see you divided the Joy Stitching die cut in a similar fashion. I didn’t have the idea to change the sentiment altogether so thank you for sharing this.
Oh I'm so glad I checked this one out! I just received my alphabet set and cut a bunch out. They are so adorable! I am going out to buy some floss this afternoon , but happened to see your video on my feed. Even though like you, I've embroidered before, you're tips and ideas are fabulous! Love them! Thanks so much for sharing I can't wait to try them out later. 😍🏵💮🌺
Wow!!!! Your stitched cards are AMAZING!!!! Thank you for all the tips and inspiration!! I loved cross stitching and now will try on paper. Thank you!!!
Thank you so much for your stitching videos. You have inspired me to get back to my stitching. I started my crafting journey many years ago doing stitching, but have gotten away from it until now. I love all your creative ways of doing the stitching on these die cuts.
I love the cards but the blue ornament is my favorite, so beautiful. I can only imagine how beautiful they are in person. As always you never fail to impress. Thank you🙏
I recently started stitching and agree that it is very theraputic! I did discover that metallic thread is a bit tricky especially when trying to make a french knot. Thanks for the ideas and tips and please continue making more videos featuring stitching.
I love these dies! (I only have one but looking to add more). I have cross stitched for many years now but mainly large pieces. Now I can add stitching to my cards. Thank so much for these videos Jennifer and the longer the better 😁 💚💚
WOW YOU GO GIRL!!!! I watch all of your videos and this one blew my mind. You got a lot in and it wasn't overwhelming. This has completely inspired me. Lots of hard work and I thank you for sharing your passion. You asked in the question which style of stitching we preferred more shown in the Joy Cards. Well. to be honest I like them equally the same for different reasons. With less stitching it looks very clean and sharp showing more negative space and the other card looks more full, elaborate and has ore depth. Both are fabulous. Thanks again girl.... you inspire me all day!!! xo
Love stitching dies. I have quite a collection going. Including Waffle Flower, Spellbinders and Lawn Fawn. Just got the Spellbinders alphabet, numbers and punctuation. And on Saturday I signed up for their stitched die of the month club. This is such an addiction. I use #10 crochet thread that I get from Hobby Lobby. They have a lot of colors and I don't have to deal with a lot of strands . Please keep your stitched videos coming I love to watch them!
I took a bunch of stitching stuff on vacation and I got a lot of work done! I had a huge stash of stitching die cuts that are finished but I haven't even made a card with them yet. People think I'm crazy but I enjoy it. I also do stitching on 12x12 paper and do them when I have to go to a wrestling meet all day. I get a lot of work done during those days.
Love the cards. Love the simpler blue card...probably because I gravitate to blues and purples. But found it interesting that the pine pieces on the red card, done with the extra stitches could easily pass for a pine cone if done in browns. All you would have to do is connect the end stitches to outline it. Beautiful cards.
I love the look of stitched cards. I learned to embroidery as a little girl from my mom. Later I did a lot of cross stitch and ribbon embroidery. Can't wait to try this. Thank you, Jennifer, your videos are always so informative.
Jennifer you never fail to inspire me. I could watch your videos all day, but I guess that would defeat the purpose to get us to do our own creating. 😂🤣 I can't wait to start stitching onto some cards.
Every stitching die I have came from a Spellbinders die club save one. Stitching dies have pretty much rubbed me the wrong way from the start because I dislike the idea of being locked into a hole pattern. But then I’ve been embroidering on paper for crikey 30+ years. OMG! More like 40 years now. Does anyone else remember the stitching fad in the heyday of Scrapbooking? Lots of companies put out stitching templates. I used to embroider in my journal--mostly hearts, stars, and snowflakes. I still love embroidery over text. And photos. Stitching on photos makes my heart swoon. It’s also delightful combined with watercolor. In case the cost of Spellbinders alphabet stitching dies made your heart stop, please know that you can prick a pattern on any alphabet die cut. Wow! Thank you for all the stitching links and ideas for stitching on paper. I definitely experienced sticker shock when I clicked on the link to buy the alphabet dies from Spellbinders! Then add on the shipping cost and you break the bank! I hv several of the stitching dies from them but I usually wait for a sale or sometimes Amazon has them at a discount.
You might want to learn the loop method for starting your first stitch. It secures the floss & doesn't leave a tail. Lots of youtube videos showing how to do it. Beautiful stitched cards.
I love stitching on cards and hope to get more of the Spellbinder ones. I have about 12 to turn into card, some ready for xmas. Love the way you step them up. Thank you.
Great tips for the stitched cards. My favorite is the simple blue card. I wanted to see the ornament video you mentioned but did not see a link for it like you mentioned. Not a stitcher but I love ornaments.
I love your stitching videos. You've shown us so many great ideas. The only problem is I want to buy them all lol. Thanks again for taking the time to teach us. Many hugs🤗🤗🤗
I can't wait to get my ornament dies for my Christmas cards this year! I also ordered the universal plates because I NEED them if it saves me time figuring out the various sandwiches!

i used to do a lot of embrodiery work as a child. and i didnt know that anyone made such cool dies tyvm for sharing :)

thank you so much for your tips. I bought some stitch dies at the end of last year but only used them this year and now I'm hooked. So therapeutic.
Beautiful cards. You are amazing. Love your videos. Thank you so much.
Beautiful cards I love stitching on cards💕
Such gorgeous, amazing, keepsake cards…I wish I had your patience!!🤣
Such fabulous ideas, Jennifer! Thank you for sharing ❤️
Love all of your cards, in particular the blue one.
I love to watch your videos. Very informative and well done. I tried following some other card makers and they drive me crazy. Thanks for all you do.
Thanks so much!
Cards and ideas are beautiful!!
Yay, another stitch video!!!
Thank you SO MUCH for this! You answered the questions I had about stitching on paper! I loved these cards, super pretty!!! ♡

Beautiful cards!!! Thank you for all your great tips!!!
You do stitching fantastically!!!
Oh thank you!
Beautiful cards Jennifer!
Thanks so much!
I haven't embroidered for years, but now I think I'll try. I do prefer your simple cards over the outlined ones, but they all look great! Thanks!
Thank you so much! I have had these dies for a while but you gave me SO MANY MORE ideas!💜
They're all so pretty 😍! I want it all...lol!
Wow! All great wonderful ideas. Thank you!

So there are lots of options and you really don’t need to buy any new dies if you just want to try it.

Thanks Jennifer! Not something i would do or enjoy doing, but I like the simple blue card myself.
You might want to learn the loop method for starting your first stitch. It secures the floss & doesn't leave a tail. Lots of youtube videos showing how to do it.
Beautiful stitched cards.
You can also use metallic machine embroidery thread. Sulky and Guttermann both make many different colors of metallic threads.
You are so stinkin' smart! I can't wait to meet you at Create in a few days!!
😍🤩
These cards are beautiful!
Fabulous! Thanks Jennifer!

You are so welcome!
I can't wait to get my ornament dies for my Christmas cards this year! I also ordered the universal plates because I NEED them if it saves me time figuring out the various sandwiches!
Love the stitching dies. Thanks for all the tips!
Love, love, love. It has definitely become one of my favorite things to do! I thank you for that! 💜
These are so beautiful.
I do enjoy stitching cards...provided I don't end up with "trigger finger" from putting a death grip on cardstock piece when I'm embroidering. It's not fun!!! That being said, I'm digging the look of these Spellbinders dies. I've got to pick up some of them. I have so many ideas going through my head right now...and all of 'em Christmas themed. I like the two-tone thread look, Jennifer. Very nice. I tend to use crochet cotton...and for even more fun -- VARIEGATED colours. Gorgeous cards, as always!
Very pretty cards! TFS
These are beautiful!!!
Lovely cards you did great.
Love the stitching videos. Thank u
Wonderful video and cards. Thank you.
Awesome! Thanks Jennifer.
Great examples and teaching. I get the Spell binders small die of month and have the stitched Thanks and Hi Although I stitch very similar to you its nice to have options.
Wonderful cards!
It would also be super cute to do the whole design in French knots that connect on the back side. It would look like little dots.
I love these videos!!!!
Love this tutorial!
I’ve been enjoying stitching and love all new ideas. Fun to experiment. I’ve used variegated floss to get extra color but I think I like using different solid colors to get more control of color change.
I struggle with the h in my “hi” set. It gets creased right at the thinnest part. Any tips for avoiding this problem?
Have you tried stacking the die cuts yet? 2-3 layers should strengthen the narrow arch at the top of the “h” enough so that it no longer creases.
@@rtd1791 I’ve done two layers, but not three. Thanks, I’ll try adding one more.
I like that tip about A6 cards. I didn't know about them.
Jennifer, Is additional postage required for A6 envelopes? I can't find anything about them on USPS .... Thanks
No. Only for bulk. If you are mailing a bulky A6 card you will definitely need additional postage. If your design is flat, a regular forever stamp will do. I recently watched a video on RUclips about postage. :)
No extra postage for A6
I think I recall one of the online card classes suggesting you could stitch around a stamped image? Another idea if funds are tight and you can't afford a stitching die...
Can you effectively use DMC variegated thread? When you were doing the leaves I realized the color wouldn’t change fast enough. Beautiful cards. Thank you for your experience!
Beautiful
Thank you
Could one use the pierced cover plates to do this or are the holes too small?
I know you were asking Jennifer, and I am not an expert but I have used them to do occasional stitching. Some of the cover plate holes are smaller/larger than others. But remember Jennifer talked about separating the threads to control the thickness of your stitch. This will make it easier to do. Try it out. Good luck!
The holes are too small especially for multiple threads but you can use a paper piercer or paper awl to enlarge the holes so that you can then stitch the designs. In a pinch you can use a push pin 📌 or a needle. Most paper embroidery is done with DIY pricked patterns.
The holes on those types of die are usually too small.
Can you please link that guide for the sandwiches? I cannot find it. Thank you Jennifer
This is very cool.
What is the deep blue cardstock you used with the gold thread and gold cardstock behind it?
i will look
I just use gel pens, glaze pens, etc, from Sakura Gelly Roll pens. I just draw where it would have been stitched. I just cannot get into using thread. It takes too long and is a bit of a pain. The dies are still beautiful, but try out the pens if you are in a hurry.
