In 2016 I was diagnosed with depression but as a Christian I heard pastors and believers say that Christians don't get depressed, so I suffered alone, and it was very difficult, but God was with me and by his mercy He delivered and healed me and I praise Him for that!
@@Monorail-Beyond-the-Veil The point or question is not if Christians can get depressed... Of course they can 👍 (even the above Video states that). they sound like Prosperity Peddlers, and *not* Pastors, a Real Pastor would turn to "The Silent Shades of Sorrow" , one of the Greatest books on Depression ever Written... and Written by a Great man of God! No less than C.H. Spurgeon, the Prince of Preachers, who suffered with Crippling Depression at times during his Exile in this world.
I have bipolar disorder and depression is an inevitable part of bipolar cycle. Some people claim that I am not saved, while others claim that I have demons. I will follow the Lord's directions and keep taking my medication. There are those who suggest that I stop taking my medication, and the last time I stopped, I was hospitalized. I believe that medication is a gift from God, especially since doctors are no longer performing lobotomies on mental patients like they used to do not too long ago.
I’m sorry that you were told this, my daughter has bipolar and it’s a true disorder and doesn’t have anything to do with demons or lack of faith in Christ.
Thank you for sharing. I battle with this because I have Ehlers dandlos syndrome which causes me a lot of pain and often leads to depression. I have been battling the idea that maybe my chronic illness and the fact that doctors keep telling me they can’t help might mean I have demons or am not saved. There’s definitely a spiritual battle going on but trusting in the Lord will never be in vain. Those who trust in Him will never be put to shame.
Amen ! Very apt video. Your video came right on God's timing in my life. I am a saved person but right now I am going through a terrible bout of depression.Yes and it is due to life 's circumstances. Thanks for the video and please remember to pray for me.
Thank you for making this video 🤗 People are too quick at making statements, labelling, etc... a person, without even thinking that they don't know what storm the individual is battling that is not sharing with anybody, and therefore it takes a good listener with a compassionate, loving and caring heart, to truly offer to listen to and pray for the person. What saddens me the most, is that often, these people are fellow brothers and sisters in Christ. May we learn to see ourselves and others through Jesus' eyes and love Him and others with the love He loved us first. ❤
I was diagnosed with manic depression disorder, with suicidal tendencies, about 10 years ago. I've been this way all my life, but never took medication. I was suicidal since 8 years old-almost committed myself to it, and again at 22. I promised God I would never do that again. I never tried it. I have also been diagnosed with schizophrenia, but the things I see, and hear, are supernatural, and not in my mind. All I have to say is 'The Lord rebuke you!', and it is over. I am now 55, and am on medication for depression and insomnia. It isn't a lack of sleep from stress. I have been like this for a long time, even going 36 hours without sleep. I know there will come a day that I will be free from all this.
I struggle with depression, but it brings me closer to God. The hope I have in Jesus helps me through the depression, and by constantly praising God in spite of my depression, I can show His Glory. My depression became a thousand times easier to deal with after I was born again! Praise be to God!!!
I’ve been diagnosed with clinical depression/anxiety and PTSD. I had a horrible childhood and teen years. Never knew what was wrong. Finally went to a psychiatrist when I was 45. She ended up being a Christian. Put me on meds. About 3 weeks later all my chemicals were in balance. I’m 70, doing very well in Christ, and life in general. Don’t care about the big mouths who don’t know what they’re talking about. As long as Jesus approves, that’s all that matters!
Please pray for me that God will provide me with the ability to get away from my emotionally abusive family. They won't change and their behavior just gets worse and worse.
I have seen people be faithful to God's promises and to their own promises, and I have seen people be a burden to others, which seems a little more common. Having depression is not a sin, but being unfaithful is. The first act of faithfulness regarding depression is to recognize it and confess it to God.
Depression being a sin is just complete nonsense. All of the prophets at some point were depressed as well as anxious and joyful. It's a human emotion. God understands the brokenhearted.
Sometimes the circumstance never ends and nothing is valuable here. I am so tired of people saying " get a new dream"! Makes me want to say the same thing to all others no matter what the loss. Hope, what an elusive and vague word as long as we are trapped on this rock.
What is sad is when Christians think they can judge others for their medical conditions and/or sin. We all sin. We should be lovingly encouraging each other to break free from sin. If you can't then this is a sin. We are called to LOVE each other. ❤
Wasn’t Paul depressed a lot? I heard he suffered this but praying and going on for Jesus. I’ve suffered depression for years even as a follower of God. I didn’t swallow it down to hide it but prayed to God for guidance. Still depressed but God helps me see through it.
I had severe depression and traced it to five foods I was eating. As long as I avoided them I was fine. A Chinese doctor asked me about my diet. When I told her that eggs gave me asthma attacks and severe depression, she gave me three courses of antibiotics. She said I had bad gut bacteria that needed to be killed. After taking the antibiotics I have never had depression since.
I think because life happens, depression , amongst many things, can come as well. All happen as a direct result of our fallen state. It happens in the natural due to something physical. And in the spiritual realm as a part of our growth process. Consider Elijah after his bout with Jazebel (1 King 19:4-8) and Paul under pressure despaired even for his life. (2 Cor 1:8). It happens!
So having depression/ being depressed is not wrong. But the consequences of the choices I make when I’m depressed feel bad. So I’m not broken in any way but the choices I make, spend money, feeling sorry for myself, overeating etc. do lead to sin.
Amen, we are human its normal to feel overwhelmed at times, and down, especially if it's hormonal God understands us. If we loose a loved one it to is normal to miss them. It's not normal to stay depressed, find the source trust God stand on His promises or simply get help.
There are a number of places where words like pour out your heart to God and cast you cares on Him are recorded. It makes a lot of sense to me it is good to tell the Lord everything one thinks or feels about something or another. Then also, Jesus tells us to pray in secret. Is that partly because we sometimes need to use words others would misjudge? But, when we open our hearts to God, then His comfort can come to us. "You meant it for evil, but God meant it for good" (Genesis 50:20). We need to know the good before we can walk out of depression. Jacob was depressed while he thought Joseph was dead, but he was not unfaithful.
Godly sorrow brings repentance that leads to salvation and leaves no regret, but worldly sorrow brings death. 2 Corinthians 7:10 If you are depressed without God in your life its lead to death. But if you have God in your life its lead to repentance and salvation.
Well when complete strangers are following you and prying in your life, sabotaging you, monitoring, lying against you, for no reason, you would be depressed.
If that’s the case then just get off social media. I deleted Instagram, Facebook, Twitter last year and I’ve had a lot more peace of mind and focus. Don’t let external factors that you can’t control get you down. Take some control back and just remove it from your life if it’s not good.
If I had lasting assurance then I’d be good but here I am after ten years still questioning if Im saved. I’ve been asking God to show me. But I get nothing at all. He’s silent.
He is not silent…in His Word, you will that your salvation is sure in Him. Consider 1 John 5:11-13: “And this is the testimony: God has given us eternal life, and this life is in his Son. He who has the Son has life; he who does not have the Son of God does not have life. I write these things to you who believe in the name of the Son of God so that you may know that you have eternal life”. Who is it that has the Son? It is those who have believed in Him (John 1:12). If you have Jesus, you have life. Not temporary life, but eternal. And, according to 1 John 5:13, you can know that you have this eternal life.
@@frappe153 and when I read 1 John I get stuck at the first test. If we say we have fellowship with him while we walk in darkness we lie and do not practice the truth.
