  • To answer whether "being gay is a sin," we must challenge underlying assumptions and rephrase it to "Is it sinful to have same-sex attractions?" and "Is it sinful to engage in homosexual activities?"; while same-sex attractions stem from a sinful nature, they are not an active choice to sin, whereas engaging in homosexual activities is, and requires resisting temptations and seeking new life in Jesus. In this video, Pastor Nelson answers your question: Is being gay a sin?

      Can God help me "overcome" being heterosexual? There is nothing to "overcome" because I simply am heterosexual . . . I don't "choose" to be what I am. In the same way, gay or bi people don't "choose" to be this way, they simply are. I suggest it would be more accurate (and loving) to say God will help them manage the (sexual) temptations in the same way God helps me manage my heterosexual sexual temptations. If a gay person does not engage in sexual activity, then they have not "sinned" just for being gay.

    Being tempted is not sin, committing these sins in your heart and mind is sin, doing these sins is sin. We are so fallen as a society we think having these desires in our hearts and minds is okay, it is not. We all need to resist temptations and encourage others to stand firm also. We need to encourage people not to just resist acting on sinful lusts, but to also not think or desire to do them. Jesus covers this in his sermon on the mount, the battle ground is not just in our external actions it’s before that, it’s in our hearts and minds.

    All premarital sex is a sin, whether gay or straight. I wish the same energy were applied to heterosexuals who have boyfriends or girlfriends who are clearly intimate. Sometimes, it seems like there's less reinforcement regarding that and too much focus on homosexuals.

    • @worthmorethanmyjourney
      @worthmorethanmyjourney День назад

      The Devil's objective is to make you believe it's unfair. You see heterosexual couples sinning "more" and "getting away with it" because there are just literally more heterosexuals shown everywhere. But that's an entirely different point. Both are very wrong and yes I wish that there was equal reinforcement that any sexual sin is wrong regardless of straight or gay. The fact that isn't not presented as equally wrong is precisely a small piece of what the Devil is using as a broken argument to keep homosexuals believing their own sin. It's also what's keeping a lot of heterosexual couples believing the lie that their sin is okay as well... because it's culturally accepted.

    Yes.
    acting on it is a sin. I always hear people say "why did God make people Gay?" Well why did God make us lust in general?
    Jesus said:
    " For there are eunuchs who were born that way from their mother’s womb; and there are eunuchs who were made eunuchs by people; and there are also eunuchs who made themselves eunuchs for the sake of the kingdom of heaven. The one who is able to accept this, let him accept it. - Matthew 19:12
    If you love God with all your heard and look forward to the Kingdom heaven over your earthly desires even if it is a relationship here on earth, You will be willing to sacrifice these desires for God and the Kingdom of heaven.
    However, that doesn't mean sinning means you aren't saved if you have homosexual desire or even if you have acted on it.
    You are only saved by Faith in Christ, but true faith in Christ will lead to fruit... That fruit being the Holy Spirit convicting you of sin and leading to the desire to do right by God.

    The guy has perfectly answered the question but the title “being gay” is very ambiguous. It’s not very specific to whether it means feeling same sex attracted or living the gay lifestyle. Being same sex attracted is something a lot of people like myself cannot control. I can testify to this because I’ve hardly felt a real attraction to a woman but without even trying I find myself attracted to guys everyday. I could pray and fast and the attractions will still not go. Thankfully, through understanding of Gods word I’ve understood it’s a result of the sin nature and I’ve surrendered this issue onto God.

    • @ChrisMagoro
      @ChrisMagoro День назад

      ‘This choice of lifestyle’? Are you serious? Think about that for a moment. Do you really believe that homosexual people choose to be gay? That makes no sense! Who would willingly choose to be judged by society and condemned by God? Homosexuality isn’t a choice, just like heterosexuality isn’t a choice. Did you wake up one day and decide that, from that moment on, you would love men (if you’re a woman)? Of course not! It’s part of your nature-it’s how you were born. The same is true for homosexuality.
      I would never choose to be gay. Why would anyone choose a life with so many challenges? That’s nonsense. I don’t hurt anyone. I’ve been in a loving relationship for 14 years, where we care for each other, have the support of friends and family, and live just like any heterosexual couple. Yet we’re still told that we can’t express our love through intimacy the same way others can.
      Please, just take a moment to reflect on that. Isn’t it awful? Imagine being told you can love your husband, live together, care for each other, but can never express that love through physical intimacy. It’s a heartbreaking thought. This is why millions of people around the world are turning away from the Church-because what’s written in the Bible doesn’t align with today’s reality, nor with modern psychological and sociological knowledge.
      You also wrote, ‘as much as being a murderer is a sin’? I can’t believe it! Please, think about this. If a woman loves another woman, they live together, care for each other, and support each other without harming anyone-how can you possibly compare that to murder? How?! That’s absolutely ridiculous.

    • @tie5360
      @tie5360 22 часа назад +1

      @@ChrisMagoro 1 Nobody is born gay, It just doesn't make any sense for a baby or a 3 year old to have those kind of desires. Maybe you didn't chose to have those desires when you got to the age where you started to but you chose to give into them and got into a same sex relationship which is a sin because it goes against how God made us.
      2 So many people are sadly choosing to turn away from the church and God because they love the world too much or because of religious hypocrites. Just because alot of people support something doesn't always mean that it is right i.e. the LGBT. Just look at hitler and the many people that had the same abhorrent beliefs as him, doesn't mean it's right.
      3 While dating the same sex isn't as harmful as straight up murder they are both a sin which are one in the same in God's eyes. That's not to say the punishment for both will be the same. It's just like stealing and murder are both crimes that you'll be prosecuted for, just different punishments.
      I pray that hopefully soon you'll open your hardened heart to Jesus and welcome his love into your life because it will be the single greatest decision you could ever make, it was for me and many other Christians. God bless

    • @ChrisMagoro
      @ChrisMagoro 13 часов назад

      @@tie5360 I kindly disagree with your points.
      1. Your first point seems inconsistent. You imply that it’s a conscious choice, but it’s not. You say, “it just doesn’t make any sense for a baby or a 3-year-old to have those kinds of desires” - of course not! Just as a baby or a 3-year-old doesn’t have heterosexual desires either. It’s simply not the time for those feelings to develop. But when the time does come, you don’t consciously decide whether your desires will be towards women (if you’re a man). You just don’t. You can’t consciously direct your feelings; you feel what you feel. There’s a big misconception that gay people “choose this lifestyle.” That’s simply not true. We don’t choose our orientation, just as heterosexual couples don’t choose theirs. You didn’t sit down and weigh the pros and cons before deciding to be heterosexual. It doesn’t work that way.
      2. The argument that “just because someone supports something doesn’t make it right” is flawed, especially when you compare it to Hitler. People support gay couples because they see a loving couple who care for each other and don’t harm anyone. Can you really compare that to Hitler? It’s indeed sad that people are turning away from the Church and God, but I can speak for many gay people when I say that it’s because we don’t understand how a loving relationship between two women, for example, is different from a man and woman who can’t have children. For us, there is literally no difference. Both are loving, caring couples, yet in the eyes of God, two women together are seen as wrong.
      3. Yes, I agree that according to the Bible, same-sex homosexual acts are considered sins. However, I struggle to understand why. I can understand sins like murder - it hurts someone; rape - it violates someone; theft - it harms the rightful owner; adultery - it damages trust and relationships. But a loving, same-sex relationship? I genuinely don’t understand what’s wrong with that. From a human perspective, there’s no difference between a gay couple and a heterosexual couple, especially those who can’t have children.
      I appreciate your prayers for me. I read the Bible, and I do want to be a good Christian. But it’s incredibly hard to live with the idea that “you can love someone, but you can never express that love through intimacy.” It just doesn’t make sense to me.

Lot went as far as telling the crowd not to do that, instead he said, take my daughters and do as you want with them, but the angels took matters into their own and blinded them. Homosexuality has been unacceptable to God always, and always will be.

    We all have a cross to bear. A sin that follows us all our life. Some have sexual thoughts and even a high drive. Some have the sin of homosexuality. Giving into it is the sin. Simple as that.

      Even the desire is sinful. Just as sinful as desiring to murder or rape. We need to pray to the Lord to change our heart so we don’t desire to sin in any way.

We can't escape thinking and wanting bad stuff and even God won't take away such thoughts and feelings, otherwise our journey as sinners towards God would be meaningless. The only thing we can actively do is to NOT act upon such desires and God will give us strength in this battle... but at the end, it's our choices that count.

      @@davideassis87I’m sorry but that’s just incorrect. Though we may be forgiven (those who have been regenerated), we are still prone to sin yet also commanded to “…take every thought captive to the obedience of Christ,” 2 Corinthians 10:5. We are even told what we should be thinking about in Philippians 4:8. Anything outside of this goes against God and requires repentance. To think otherwise is the hubris of your own sinful nature.

      @@Ooochild But I'm not saying that we should not be vigilant with our thoughts, I'm not saying that we should give in to every desire and temptation just because they're happening only in the realm of ideas.
      What I'm saying is the same thing the man said in the video: that having thoughts and desires, that to be tempted, is not a Sin per se. The real Sin is to feed such desires and then acting upon them.
      In fact, to be vigilant and to repent is pretty much how we refrain ourselves from actually sinning.
      In the context of the discussion, to exist as a gay person is not a sin. The sin is to live a life of homosexual practices and relations. So much, there are lots of gay Christians who repented from past actions and then choose God and celibacy for the rest of their lives.

      @@davideassis87 I understand what you’re saying. I do take umbrage with your statement _“even God won't take away such thoughts and feelings, otherwise our journey as sinners towards God would be meaningless.”_ That is such a dangerous thing to be so flippant about. Scripture says:
      “And do not be conformed to this world, but *_be transformed by the renewing of your mind,_* so that you may approve what the will of God is, that which is good and pleasing and perfect.” - Romans 12:2
      “Finally, brothers, whatever is true, whatever is honorable, whatever is just, whatever is pure, whatever is lovely, whatever is commendable, if there is any excellence, if there is anything worthy of praise, *_think about these things.”_*
      - Philippians 4:8
      Besides this, why hold on to past ways? “Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation. The old has passed away; behold, the new has come.” - 2 Corinthians 5:17
      Let’s also not forget that simply not acting on a sin, though it be in your thoughts, does not mean you are pleasing the Lord with your non-action. Remember how the Bible teaches that merely looking upon a woman with lust is committing adultery in your heart? No action required there. Also, how having anger against your brother is equated to murder. No action needed there either. Your thoughts are still very important, so don’t be so dismissive of them. If a person chooses to live as a gay person, yes it is still a sin because you are blatantly choosing your own desires over God. There is no such thing as a “gay Christian.”

    Well my Brothers & Sisters in Christ, I am gay & a Christian, but I am not practicing gay sex, I am I still in sin , to me no! God dose love gay peoples because we know God is Love ! Amen! So the sin of being gay is having gay sex! Which I don't practice anymore I know My Heavenly Father has forgiven me for that! So let just tell gays peoples the truth! That God love the gays peoples but hate the sin when two same sex couples are having sex! May God continue to give me strength to continue living my life as I am gay but not having gay sex! We must remember God Is Love & God had no hate in him! Amen! Love you all my Brothers & Sisters in Christ Jesus!

      My friend, I tell you this in humbleness and love, not wishing to hurt, but to tell the truth regardless. If you are comfortable with being gay as long as you’re not having gay sex, you and your partner are complicit in sexual perversion which goes against God. You are not submitted to Him nor are you being obedient. Matthew 5:28 talks about looking at a woman with lust being comparable to adultery. In the same chapter verses 21-23 equate anger towards a brother with murder. So as you can see, just because you’re not actively _doing_ something sinful doesn’t mean you’re not being held guilty for the state of you heart and mind. Remember God judges the heart. Not to mention, who gets thrown into the lake of fire- the sin, or the sinner? Be careful my friend… repent and turn from your wicked ways.

    You are incorrect to say that temptation is not sin.
    Scripturally sin is not narrowed to view promoted here as merely "active sins" but sin is a corruption of the human being, see Genesis 5.3; our fallen nature encompasses sin, missing the mark; iniquity, blots/impurity on something that should be pure, and trespass, going outside bounds that God has given. Original sin corrupts our entire nature. Attraction to the same sex is a corruption and is sinful even if not acted upon. To hold to this erroneous view that temptation or (concupiscence) is not sin falls into the heresy of the Pelagians who deny that original depravity is sin.
    Thankfully Jesus Christ did shed His pure blood for our sinful inclinations as well as our actual sins, to teach otherwise obscures the total depravity of our nature and the total grace of Christ's atonement.

      Jesus was tempted (Mark 1:13; Luke 4:1-13), but He never sinned (Hebrews 4:15).
      Temptation is not of itself sinful. It becomes sin when we allow the temptation to become action, even in our minds. Lust, for example, is sin even though it may never be acted upon (Matthew 5:28). Covetousness, pride, greed, and envy are all sins of the heart; even though they may not be apparent to anyone else, they are still sin (Romans 1:29; Mark 7:21-22). When we give in to the temptation to entertain such thoughts, they take root in our hearts and defile us (Matthew 15:18-19). When we yield to temptation, we replace the fruit of the Spirit with the fruit of the flesh (Ephesians 5:9; Galatians 5:19-23). And, many times, what was first entertained as a thought becomes action (see James 1:15).

      @@gotquestions You are not Jesus. When you are tempted you are sinful.
      Same sex attraction or "being gay" is not merely temptation but an inclination toward evil it is an attraction, a sinful attraction.
      Jesus was never attracted to the same sex because He is holy, he was not tempted in this sense that in his own flesh he had the desire, He was tempted by the Devil and did not give in.
      If anyone has same sex attraction they should Repent and believe the Gospel.

      I used to hold your view as well.
      But the difference between Jesus' temptation and ours is that Jesus' originated from the outside.
      Ours often originate from the inside, and Jesus said that out of the heart comes evil desires, including se*ual immorality.
      "Side B gay Christianity says, 'No, no, no, it's not a sin if you didn't choose it;
      it's not a sin if you're not physically acting on it.'
      But that makes no sense because in order to actually pull that off, you have to throw away the tenth commandment (Exodus 20:17)…
      that says, 'Thou shalt not covet thy neighbor's wife,' not 'Thou shalt not take thy neighbor's wife.' … And then in Romans 7, you have probably the most majestic words in the Bible understanding indwelling sin, where Paul says, 'Why do I do what I don't want to do? It is not I; it is sin in me.'
      So there Paul is saying, 'It's sin; it's in me; and I didn't choose it.'"
