This is a complete cut of all of the cuscenes / in-game story elements from the PS2 version of Force unleashed. This game has been relased on a number of systems (Xbox 360, PS3, PC, PS2, PSP, Wii) and the interesting thing is that apart from the graphics there are quite a few differences in between the actual gameplay and the overall story. I prefer the PS2/PSP/Wii story over the Xbox 360/PS3/PC version. Игры
i think this version is the better one. the story flows better, there's more characters then jsut hte heroes and baddies, a actual little hub between missions, and the different costumes and saber colors actually appear in the cutscenes.
kingofmonsters14 I kinda agree. It's a much better version of the story in my opinion. Despite some lines sounding weird (Kota saying "I only sense...me?"), combat and graphics I really liked playing this version and felt more complete especially witht the added features. Even some of the levels seemed better. I just wish you could choose which level to play post game instead of going through the whole thing.
kingofmonsters14 Plus there's couple story scenes where it's slightly more darker toned. (in my opinion)
the figures made for the force unleashed were actually based on the ps2 version and came with codes for the ps2 game.
Fully agree, I loved the ps2 version. i wish they would reboot it for PC, but with the same story and at least similar gameplay
kingofmonsters14 Not to mention the Phase 3 Clones (Stormtroopers with The phase 2 Visor)
The graphics might not have been the best but this is by far the best version of the game
yes
Tyler Cotton you could get different sabre hilts which wasn't on 360\ps3
Rory Nicholson yep
Hell no
Mythic VI Hell yeah!
“Your training is almost complete”
*Kills a jedi*
“Your training is far from complete”
TheCookieGod yea I didn’t get that at all
Well he was trained to help Vader kill and overthrow the Emperor, so killing a Jedi isn’t enough to face the Emperor.
It's because the PS2 version has worse story.
@@DaraG-sn2nj better
This was SO nostalgic for me. This game was my childhood
Totally Legit Pros Mine too!
Amen
PS2 and WII had the best versions.
@@AstralFoxx3 while I agree for the gameplay the ps 3 and PC look 10 times better.
I love how Vader says “Report” and the two clones just drop their commander like “Fuck you dude!”
They dropped him because they didn't want to look like they weren't doing anything lol
Who enjoyed the wii/ps2 version because of the 501st stormtroopers.
Wafflez At the beginning they were pretty cool to look at when I was young. Looked Cooler than the clone/stormtrooper mix in the 360/PS3 versions
Me
Its very stupid to like a version of a game because of repainted stormtroopers that only appear in the beginning

They're basically renamed to "Vader's fist" if i'm correct
Indeed, there were two distinct developers for this title. LucasArts, (for the Xbox360 and PS3), and Krome Studios, (for PS2 and the Wii).
The reason there were two different developing houses, was because LucasArts wanted to handle all of the Hi-Res production, and Krome was well versed with PS2 and Wii/GameCube development.
Firstly, let me put the notion to rest that the PS3 and 360 were the “original” versions of the game, they were not.
LucasArts didn’t even have a game, until Krome Studios approached them with a demo, and all versions were developed simultaneously
There was also much more that Krome Studios had wanted to implement, (force interrogations, for example), but because LucasArts could not figure out how to make those features work in their Hi-Res versions, Krome was forbidden to add them.
As for the cutscenes: what you are seeing in the PS2/Wii versions are in-game assets being animated in actual game runtime. No Hi-Res pre-rendered FMV cutscenes for Krome, (in my opinion, LucasArts was banking on how much “better” their game looked on the PS3 and 360, and neglected the narrative and the gameplay elements of the game, that seem better balanced on the PS2/Wii).
Many have noted how some cutscenes are similar, but the Hi-Res versions seem to have something not quite right about them; like their flow, pacing, or shot composition. Often what would happen, is that Krome would produce the cutscenes first, get them approved by LucasArts, and then LucasArts would “reconstruct” the approved scenes, often with questionable results.
I agree, that the PS2/Wii versions may not be as “pretty” as the 360/PS3 versions, but they certainly have something more to them that their higher resolution counterparts, making for a better overall gameplay experience.
I just played through 360 FU (Games with Gold. Took them long enough.), and I'd agree they sacrificed narrative for spectacle.
The 7th gen versions were entirely about showing off pretty environments, Havok physics engine, and how many enemies you could have on screen at once. (Which they whittled down late game to about four/a half dozen per area anyways, with better firepower/stats)
That's pretty shitty of them to try and limit the PS2 version just because they are too incompetent to get it working in the 360 version.
Resident Alien I can tell you first hand how well the game holds up compared to the 360 version but there is a lot of back story. *It was 2007 and I was just starting to get a grasp on how large Star Wars was. My mother bought me a box set of the original trilogy on VHS and I watched each one whenever I was bored or wanted to enjoy a night to myself. My parents had bought a Wii so that they could play animal crossing from time to time. On September 16th 2008 the force unleashed was released and I knew I had to have it. I worked around my neighborhood for two months to save up the money for the game and that day, my life was changed forever. I didn’t ever understand the story of the game but for some reason I could never stop playing it, whenever I had free time I would play though the game until I beat it over and over again and it never got boring. In 2009 I picked up my first Xbox 360 and decided to play it on there. Sure it looked pretty but it lacked the charm and the feel and the pacing that the original did, but most of all the game was about 1/4 of the wii version. I was so let down, I felt cheated. So I returned to the wii version and eventually school got the better of me and I had to stop playing it. I can’t even count how many times I beat that game with cheats and without, challenge runs and all of that. I couldn’t even finish the Xbox version a second time because it was so disappointing...*
GPJ 8001 I did the same thing with the ps2 version. It feels, plays and just works better than the PS3 or other versions. The others just don't capture the feel correctly, it feels forced with some of the cutscenes being a little jerky, and just not feeling right to watch. I still liked it in its own way, but the older version will always be better in my opinion.
Thank your for this info
When I was a kid, I played this version to death. It was, and still is, a great Star Wars game. Just a shame they canceled the third one.
Ok you have to admit the cutscenes for the first mission was way more action packed than the other version and showed just how strong wookies are
O yeah
28:25
“I hate being him…”
“I think he does too.”
Ever since I was a kid, that line always kinda made me sad - simply because of how true it is.
this very game is one perfect example of that saying: the original is best. i mean the original had better timing for the perfect soundtrack's from the movie's, better emotion's, better voice's, and also the original made much more sense, i mean the fact with having clone's at the beginning as well as attacking the wookie's at night. and that creepy and haunting setting at the first jedi temple mission. and the best part....those button mashup's!!! i mean i have never gotten tired of hearing that roar starkiller does when he finishes his opponent!!!
Wouldn't it be awesome if they remastered this game but only the PS2/PSP/Wii version! The 360/PS3 version was okay but it really shined with this version.
Graphics of 360/PS3 version mixed with the gameplay of PS2/Wii would be an epic game
I would milk that game as dry as a virgin's cock.
T-Dawg bro chill
I'm glad to see I am not the only one who thought that!!!

At least this version had force choke
Johnny Blade it took me forever to figure it out on Wii.
Cthulhu’s Abode Sorry for long wait but as I recall you pick up someone with the force. Z, I think. And then you twist the nunchuck
It makes so much sense really, because Starkiller _is_ Darth Vader's apprentice...
@Cthulhu’s Abode I think you can press C or something but I think you can only do it as Darth Vader
by far the better version

And it's true, that's the best part.
You really put your username as "joker" decided to choose the second shittiest version of the joker. Nice going kid, you're a moron
The voice acting, story structure, and overall gameplay in this game are far better than the 'updated' version. If this had the graphics of the more recnt version it would be PERFECT.
@Matthew Wylie totally agree
Most of the voice acting is literally identical wym
Some voice acting sounds like shit, but the story is better
@@codyj.braunva5406 yeah, and i like some cutscenes and designs from the ps3 version better than this.
@@shinkenger2011 its not. If you pay attention to side-by-sides they are reading the same lines but it is a different "take" as in voice actors are SAYING the lines differently in this game.
I still can’t believed force unleashed was removed from cannon. It actually had a really good story line.
All of Legends is good, doesn't make sense why they replaced it
ummmm........i don't think this game was ever canon to begin with. i mean why would they have someone as op as starkiller canon to the story in the first place?
Jeremy Smith it was canon
I personally found it kinda contrived. It works for a video game, but not as an extension of the Star Wars lore.
EightThreeEight Well, seeing as the ps2 version of his game was the only piece of Star Wars media that featured Imperial Navy Commandos and featured many sith that only exist through expanded universe lore like Darth Phobos and Darth Desolous, and many other characters and ships from expanded universe, this game was actually a perfect extension of Star Wars lore...
am I the only one who think that ps2/psp version is better than ps3 version?
no. the ps2 version was fantastic
+Anonymous same, while both wii/ps2 and PS3/xbox360/pc versions were fun to play, I think the Wii/ps2 was better with the story being a bit more polished and even the voice acting is a lot better
Basil Bonehead true that im gonna buy a ps2 just to play this game
+Basil Bonehead Most of the voice acting sounds the same.
No I got the ps2 and ps3 and I think the ps2 is the better version. Story and gameplay.
This game is simply the superior version. Every little detail, having do so with either plot or setting, that's changed from the mainstream version is a better change. For instance, the first mission takes place at night, so it provides a properly dark atmosphere to match as Vader slaughters his way through wookies to kill a Jedi. The inclusion of the extra bosses, ESPECIALLY Darth Desolous, were very appreciated. I was honestly disappointed playing the X-box version when I had grown so used to the PS2.
ps2 had a better story than the ps3 version
god look at that clone/stormtrooper mix, that just look's amazing.
i like how the game starts with the clones trooper and ends with the stormtroopers
This game acts as a transition between Clone Wars and the Galactic Civil War
Unlike the shittly 360 version
am i the only one that thought this was better than the 360 version
Cameron Brown nope. I preferred this version better than the 360/ps3 version
I did!
I wish they'd remaster this version of the game for PS4, that'd be awesome.
Claude Crump and the Xbox 1..But they only remaster the ps2 and the wii version... those were the best versions.
It would be cool for all platforms
54:52
Man, this scene is hilarious 😂
"Weeeeeellll...where is Senator Organa?"
"Uhhh...we have a situation here".
“I won’t let you leave without telling you where the senator is.”
I remember being sad that I didn't have a ps3 and could only play this version. Years later I played the PC version with the better graphics and realized how great the ps2 game was
It’s cool how much attention to detail was put into this game, like how the soundtrack is a blend of prequel and OG music with some great original themes for the game.
Damn I️ remember years ago dying so many times to those damn rancors
Drum n Bass Molesters same bro, that's why I'd always use the unlimited force lighting cheats, felt food to kill em easily
Shadow troopers were the bane of my existence. The rest of the game is honestly easy, but those fucking shadow troopers. Honestly, the death star is a pretty bullshit level in terms of enemy spawns but the spawns make sense.
@@Chu8rock shadow troopers are easy, now the troopers with the jet packs piss me off
nice username buddy
You can just choke the jet pack troops. But that's still not easy when you're surrounded
"Weren't prepared for that were ya." Fucking legendary.
Man this is just so much cooler at night.
This version is like a dive restaurant. The outside looks unappealing, but once you experience it it's absolutely phenomenal.
if there's one thing about this version I could change, it's that he would hold his lightsaber backwards
I don't understand how some people say the graphics were bad, sure they didn't have the dynamic lighting of the PS3 version, but these graphics are pretty phenomenal, especially if you compare this to something like Battlefront 2 (2005 version)'s graphics on the PS2, I mean they really did a terrific job with the graphics here, the limitations didn't hold them back.
The storytelling of this version is far better.
Iv read the novelization played the Ps2 and the 360 all are fun but the ps2 makes you feel more connected. It also feels more like your actually using for force.
It really surprised me when I found out there was a difference in the game. It’s truly amazing that Lucasarts made two different games with the same story. Truly remarkable
1:29:11 "Nooo, don't kill Vader, that's evil!"
*Immediately kills 2 stormtroopers*
Like the combat I remember for this version flowed so much better than the clunky mess of PS3 and Xbox 360 versions
kmacwills The combat abilities in this old version are so amazing and same time much deadlier.
Pikachufps3 I liked both
The_Pot_Dragon what
Loved the use of the early Imperial Navy Troopers, then at the end we fight the regular stormtroopers
The troopers on the first mission were the 501st
Wrong. 501st
@@massivelegend6610 he's talking about the Imperial Navy troops at 17:40, not the 501st troops on Kashyyk.
I really love this Navy Trooper design.
they need to update this for the ps4 and only touch the graphics. leave the cinematography, game design and everything else alone just touch the graphics
That space battle in the beginning was awesome. They shouldn't have cut that out of the 360/PS3 version.
I remember playing this as a kid, and I couldn’t get past the Jedi temple because the music scared me lmao
1:05:38
Lets be honest, we all laughed and giggled a bit at the sheer might of Galen here. This is the scene that hammered the steel into the shape of a legend, he passed from being just a Jedi knight to a master in these few moments.
Beautiful
you know he ignited his lightsaber for extra style points there
It’s a stupid scene. And being a Jedi master is about wisdom, not about throwing things around with the force.
@@4477supermanhe's not a Jedi
I always foundthe animation for when Vader impales him really funny. It's just so overly dramatic
Oh man, I remember being 14 and a freshman in high school when this game came out. Born and raised in SF, Lucasarts had a Launch Party for the Force Unleashed back in 2008 at our local Best Buy. I met the entire cast of the game including Sam Wittwer and George Lucas. I first got the game that night and had everyone sign it. I remember how the PS2 version was so freaking awesome. I tried to talk to my buddy about it and compare levels but I had no idea what he was talking about because he had the 360 version. Although I have both, I far prefer the PS2 version. Just so much more love for the gameplay
Awesome comment this made my night 👍🏻👍🏻
It's crazy how this is so different from the PS3/360 version,I'm in awe!
This version gives all the powers in the start already and you can't do force choke while welding lightning
Omg this was my childhood playing this all day when I was 6 years old🥺 man you don’t realize how fast you grow up
We talk about how this version is often superior in a lot of ways besides graphics. But one underrated benefit this version had to me was how lore friendly it was. Imperial facilities were reminiscent of what we saw in the films, the Emperor’s throne room was like the one on the Death Star 2 in ROTJ, details like that. It’s a touch not seen in the HD versions as the Death Star and Tie Facility felt kind of alien and overdesigned. All the levels in general had a lot of unnecessary platforming, strange geometry, and gimmicky doors to open, but not in this version. Things are kept simple and reasonable to what we see in the films.
Thank you. This is the version I own and it’s great that you’ve put it up here for everyone to see
It was much better than the 360/PS3 version. More bosses, longer story, more force powers (force choke for ex.). And i liked it very much at the time when i got it for PS2. I would be REALLY happy if they decide to make a remastered version of this, just Disney canceled the whole Force Unleashed project. :c
This version of the game with the FU2’s graphics, and the Lord Starkiller dlc’s included would be a fantastic game
i hate that they took off like 50% of the missions for the remastered :(
nate. There was no remaster...There was a ps2/wii version and a 360/ ps3 version.
This game was released at an odd time where the PS2 was still heavily supported to the point where games were still being made for it. Spider-man: Web of Shadows had a PS2 version as well.
Web of Shadows was a side-scroller...

Jane Doe Well no...The ps2 And wii versions were made first and then the Xbox And ps3 came after, this why the Xbox And ps3 versions have 1/4 the content.

I was get chills when I hear Kota say your a Jedi boy!!! Idk why but I always find that encouraging
1:26:05 why does he say it so fast l0l
Luke Goodman To my recollection, I think Sam Witwer did it intentionally as a sort of like “oh yeah one more thing”
Kinda crazy how star killer was so powerful he could go toe to toe with sidius and vader and got wiped out trying to save the rebels

@@SoulSnatching how were you able to record in a 16:9 aspect ratio? Or how did you get rid of the black bars on the side?
Dude I flipping loved this game as a lil kid!
If only we learnt more about Cho'paa Notimo, Kleef, Drexel, Darth Desolous and Phobos. Why didn't they add them to the other versions of the game?
Sorry if I'm late, but I'm pretty sure it was just different developers and the jedi temple levels in the ps2/wii version were base levels and the one for ps3/xbox 360 was just a dlc mission. Heck, the dlc mission just replaced the rogue jedi boss (from the 3rd temple mission from the original) with the Dark Apprentice
“And then you will die” the way the emperor said that made me laugh
Haha I love this line I quote it all the time 😂😂😂😂

I loved the 501st stormtroopers, the whole prologue is amazing!
The graphics are terrible but the PS2 version was better in my opinion.
Honestly, this pretty impressive for being on a PS2.
Its not ur opinion, its facts! :)
If they ever remake force unleashed I would like it to be a mixture of the ps2/wii versions and 360/ps3/pc version. I would also lean more into starkiller being an assassin for the first like 1/6 of the game
I remember when I was little I thought the graphics were so good and it took me for ever to do the final battle they should remake this but with all the missions acutally there
By far the definitive version. If they remake it. They should go with the pacing, powers, and narrative of the ps2 version.
Well the Switch is getting a remaster of the Wii version, which is basically the PS2 version with added motion controls and multiplayer.
I miss the cinematics of the ps2 version, especially the fight with rahm kota

Seeing this makes me so sad.... Memories of waking up to a shattered TFU/Wii Disk. At least I played it for a good 2 years by 2010.

Rahm Kota was saying Boy before Kratos made it cool.
The graphics for the PS2 version isn't as good as the newest version, but the story elements are just so much better. and the small things as well. triton squad, I'd say the PS2 version is also a bit darker.
I played this game a lot as a kid damn that’s nostalgic
Imagine it being Christmas day and you've been hyped to get the Force Unleashed, only to get the DS version
The only things that the HD versions have over this version are the ragdoll effects, enemy ai, and the Tatooine/Hoth DLC's. Everything else this version did better (except Graphics of course).
why would they delete all these cutscenes in the ps3 version? laziness?
Different developer
And missions
Respawn needs to do a remastered version of this game. Like same VA's and same story but better graphics and combat.
This version of the story is so good, the ps3 version kills half the missions, characters personalities and context
I loved this version of the game just because of the extra levels at the Jedi temple and on cloud city
I own The Force Unleashed 1 & 2 for both the Wii and PS3 because they are my favourite Star Wars games.
God I miss this game, we need more Star Wars games like this.
I played this game many times as a child. In fact, the disc had to be bought three times due to me scratching it so much with use.
also in the Hi-res version the game says that Kota ended up on CLoud City, Bespin, wich is located near hoth, and the Low-res version has you find him in a bar on Nar Shada, the planet where the Tie construction facility was located, honestly it makes little sense that Kota survived being sent into space, either he used a jedi technique to survive till he was rescued and ended up drunk and blind planet side, or the facility was in low altitude with oxygen, allowing him to survive, but it makes more sense for him to have survived and ended up on Nar Shada then to get a ship and fly half way across the galaxy to Bespin and end up drunk and blind there, only for Starkiller to find him. what do you think?
Kendall Shafer this versions story felt more polished and actually made sense
Kendall Shafer
In the “hi-res” version, Starkiller says he tracked Kota from Nar Shada and a couple other planets before finding him on Bespin
Kendall Shafer If leia can do it I guess
Man the graphics looked super realistic when I was a kid
Man, this is a great SFM.
I remember renting this from the gaming section of movie gallery! Yep I'm that old
I played the ps2 originally and seeing all the content cut or changed in the other versions disappoints me.
The intent in the first mission alone is much different than the updated version. Remaining clone troopers instead of storm troopers, Vader slaughtering the troopers instead of just taking him in, etc I love this one more for the elements within the story
I just realized that the beginning is still with the Galactic Republic
No, They just hadn’t transitioned from using clones yet, and they wouldn’t have if the kamino cloning labs became a liability, they made a batch of clones loyal to only them and staged a coup against the empire, so they transitioned from clones to conscripts and volunteers
