Feast of the Archangels - September 30, 2012 Church of Saint Michael - Stillwater, MN Music Director - Jayne Windnagel Principal Organist - Joseph Clarke
This is lovely. I am a choir director /organist going through a terrible ordeal, and this song gives me a little hope and courage to not just end my earthly struggle. Thank you.
I have never heard this sung before like this and it is really lovely well, done to the choir and the organist and all the people who make all this possible for us to listen to !
Love this beyond words. Love the organ music director choir and Church and our Church and holy Mother Mary. God bless everyone. Father. Everyone involved. God bless.
Thank you so much for this wonderful rendering. I play it (instead of saying the Magnificat) whenever I pray Evening Prayer. It adds so much to my prayer life.
Very very well done. Perfect tempo (I've heard this done too slowly). Very nice directing as well. I'm a choir director out in PDX, and I just posted a video of this song....just me and my guitar. Blessings on you, your choir and your ministry.
1. My soul is filled with joy as I sing to God my savior: you have looked upon your servant, you have visited your people. Refrain And holy is your name through all generations! Everlasting is your mercy to the people you have chosen, and holy is your name. 2. I am lowly as a child, but I know from this day forward that my name will be remembered, for all will call me blessed. 3. I proclaim the pow’r of God, you do marvels for your servants; though you scatter the proud-hearted and destroy the might of princes. 4. To the hungry you give food, send the rich away empty. In your mercy you are mindful of the people you have chosen. 5. In your love you now fulfill what you promised to your people. I will praise you, Lord, my savior, everlasting is your mercy. Paraphrase of the Magnificat (Luke 1:46-55) Tune: WILD MOUNTAIN THYME Composer: David Haas (b. 1957)
Beautiful job, Jane and Joe and the Choir at St. Michael's! We are singing it this weekend- I have some young girls who love to sing this at St.Gen's in Centerville! Peace to you all- I have great memories of St. Michaels- Pax Mary Donahue
I have mentioned hat this beautiful song sounds like the Celtic song "Will Ye Go, Lassie, Go." I have been trying to form a Christian music band mixing Celtic melodies.
Thanks for your kind words. I think there is a way to rip these into MP3s as one of our choir members tooks some of last years Christmas videos and made a CD to play at home. Like all things, I'm sure google would help find the answers for how to do this.
Joe, there are several programs that convert You-Tube to MP3 format. DVD Video Soft is one of the better ones and has a free trial version that You can use to determine if You want to buy the extended version and that is not all that expensive if memory serves. I still plan to come and hear that beautiful Dobson in person someday . God Bless. Kevin
Hey Lee MacDonald: It's not a parody. Maybe a re-working of the song. And, if you listen to Celtic music, you know that many times a familiar tune is used for different songs
In hymnody, various tunes are used over and over again. This tune "WILD MOUNTAIN THYME" is one such tune. They simply apply different words to the same tunes repeatedly.
+James Hooper Very true, and can be confuseing at times. How many sets of lyrics are there to HYFRYDOL of Londonarrie Aire ? Would keep us playing all afternoon. All are nice though. what a way to spend an afternoon. GOD BLESS and Merry Christmas. kevlutu
Yes. We're very blessed to have several nuns teaching and as the principal in the school. I love seeing them on Sunday too.

As a scotsman I must say what a wondeful parody of Wild Mountain Thyme. What a blessing. Spot on.
Wild Mountain Thyme is By Francis McPeake of Antrim.

Oh my goodness, that blessed me beyond measure! 💖
Me too! They played this tonight in my church and I burst into tears! I only ever knew this tune as a folk song. Hit me somewhere very deep. ☺
Absolutely Heavenly. Thank you from the heart and soul. God bless
This is one of the best songs I have ever heard! Thanks for Sharing!
You have real nuns! I didn't think churches had nuns anymore. Very lovely hymn too, thanks for sharing it with us.
At seminary we often sang this at evening prayer instead of the traditional magnificat chant ... It beautiful composition
Is that allowed? I have been looking for a tune for the magnificat, and this would be great. I'm also Scottish, so a Scottish song would be beautiful
Us, too. South Africa ❤️ we also used to do a drum accompaniment to this
@@aw7544 yes, very much allowed. 😊
Heavenly. Thanks 🙏 never tire of listening to this.

I only see a high altar.
Does this church celebrate Tridentine Mass or Novus Ordo ad orientem?
I would assume novus Ordo ad orientem. They are receiving communion standing and under both species

Beautiful rendition of a beautiful hymn! Do you ever do MP3's? This rendition is so much better than what's available on iTunes!
Search my page for O God Beyond All Praising, or O Spirit All Embracing. We have a few videos up for that tune.
Can you please do "God Beyond all praising"?!?? The versions of that song on RUclips are embarrassing :)
Beautiful
