Not only do you look “Dapper” but I love your laugh and humour!…What an interesting topic today. Very important advice for everyone. We are not big TV watchers in this home. I would rather have a comfortable conversational space. When we move, I am hoping that we will have a finished basement where a TV setup can go, possibly with a sectional and round coffee table of course for entertaining guests who come to stay over…Thanks again Garrett, it’s always great to watch your videos 🤗❤️🇨🇦
Hi Garrett. Always nice to see your videos. A tip for those who dont know...and that you can mention to spread the word. Most modern TVs have the function to work as art pieces or open fire illusions. They are really nice and have decorative frames as well. That way the TV is the focal point but not a big boring black thing in the way. I have always joked to my friends that my TV is modern art. I mean if Yves Klein marine blue painting can be sold for 9 million, my Black monochromatic thing on the wall can be expensive art..hihi
Found myself saying "Love that for you!" earlier today and immediately thought of Garrett. Here's hoping I pick up his fabulous sense of interior design as easily as I do his fabulous quips.

A very good Morning Garrett, Quiet a refreshing episode, thank you!! It gives idea of various permutations and combinations, as personally I would like to change the living room set up once in 2 years atleast😋 You have a wonderful week ahead..xx
*Combining "Leggy pieces with Grounded pieces* . Garrett, would love to see a video on the mix of leggy and grounded furniture pieces in different spaces. I currently have a good mix but I see spaces that lean to heavy one way or the other.
Too many leggy pieces in my formal living room-leggy sofa, matching chair, 2 side tables, and coffee table. That is a lot of legs! Looks too stiff. Cannot afford to replace any of the pieces. I think I could put a basket or something under the leggy tables to "ground" them. Any suggestions?
Love the sofa tip! I have a sofa that is long enough for me to lay down on, but compact enough to work in my smaller living space. I would love to hear your thoughts on how these different layouts work with different styles of furniture.
I just discovered you and subscribed....I also love that you offer various layout ideas and share your knowledge and expertise. I must compliment your presentation style - so clear, professional and not sassy! Have fun!
My rectangle living room is right at the entrance (no space to create separate area for front entrance) of our standard 1960's track home. Only our dog uses the living room for her exclusive hangout space and to see who is coming to our home. No room for table but do have sofa on one side and seating bench with never used piano (not my idea).
After MUCH sketching, and shifting furniture around, I finally found a good solution for our long and narrow living room with a corner fireplace- and it is pretty much the last one you suggested! I refuse to put my tv above my fireplace, so I had to consider my media console, as well as a large window with a baseboard heater under it. Thanks for this video! With a few tweaks I think it will work well 😊
Ok, the square and half square layout (my living room is square) is helping me the most. Garrett, I wish you'd offer a service where for a flat fee, we could send 4-5 photos of our living room to you and you'd give us 1-2 different layouts for our specific room and furniture. :) Like you have time to do this, but it sure would be nice.
I’m considering offering a virtual service on a limited schedule basis for individual decorating consultations in the future. I will announce it in videos if I do.
Great video. I'd love to see you show us the steps, ie chasing paint (with current colors or if buying new), then the trail of where t place the rug, the tv etc. Then show us how you add that 3rd dimension, the books, flowers, arts etc. Great video!
Can you please please make a video of tv placement with windows!! I have a rectangular living/dining area with sliding glass doors in both sections and a chimney in between the sliding doors. I have trying to decide where to hang a tv and what size to buy?? Over the chimney, on the opposite wall of sliding glass doors? Then there’s glare, 😢… please please share your wisdom … for us clueless souls!!
You validated my idea of my matching sofa and chair. Other designers seem to dislike matching furniture. Your video today, calmed me about this. Thanks!
We have a narrow living room with the fireplace at the end. We also have awkwardly placed doors in the room which we can't move. I lost the TV over the mantle battle but am used to it now. Our couch is parallel to the fireplace and our two chairs are opposite the fireplace. Our living room isn't very large so we don't have a coffee table but have tables by all of the seating so people have a place to put drinks or anything else. A wonderfully informative video as usual. Thank you!

I use small marble side tables that are easy to move around so if a chair is not near the coffee table, guests have a place to put their drink. They sell these tables at Home Goods.

I have one sofa and one matching chair, but one unmatched chair (in a small room). The unmatched chair does not to fit in visually. I will use the idea from your video to use the same throw/pillows on Both chairs. (thank you so much for that great idea,). Any other suggestions for that unmatched chair, so it blends in better with the sofa and other chair ?
You can always get a slipcover. Amazon has many, as well as other sites. You can also drape a throw or blanket (even over a slipcover) to make the chair look nicer. I myself find putting the toss cushions from the other furniture on top of a mismatched piece of furniture actually off-putting as it draws even more attention to the fact that the piece of furniture is not matching the others. So: 1- slipcover 2- new chair 3- remove the chair 4- embrace, or make peace, with the odd man out piece of furniture.
I can’t wait to try out new decor in a new place. The place I live in currently is so small in the kitchen/living room. My TV is LITERALLY next to my fridge and there’s hardly any options to move things around 😓 maybe I can get rid of one couch 😭
