The 2nd place guy WAS a D when he made up an assanine excuse for his lack of strength to simply get a second rep attempt. I don't think that guy could even bench 300lbs on 12 hours of sleep, a large carbohydrate meal, plus 3 scoops of pre workout in him before hitting the gym lol
Let's be real, though.. Nick's income is based off of giving people money. So essentially the excitement could be 50/50 "good for you" and "good for me once this is on YT!" All
You know all those challenges where people are asked their max then asked to back up said claim but all inflated their numbers? It’s just that, the comments know you can’t call them on it because they’ll never post a video to back up said claims and you’ll never see one in person. It’s going to be more common amongst people watching fitness content for fun than say walking into a commercial gym etc but yeah not a chance half the comments are legit and for those that are a far smaller chance it’s 3 plates + visible abs, I’m sure there’s a lot of storing people on here but I also bet hard a lot of them are claiming like 13% when really they’re like 25+ and like 240lb which makes it far less impressive. Like all the guys on insta saying below 200 isn’t a physique when if they actually cut to a decent percentage they’d be like 180 😂
That's crazy vibe bro! Appreciate the time and effort u put into your videos to get such an amazing result... I thought it's kinda easy just make videos and that's it but once i decided to become a fitness influencer and tried filming I was so shcked how hard it is and how much time u neeed
That was me, I had no idea about a bench press challenge or anything that day. Went to muscle beach for the first time and barely hit 315 for the first time. Then went on to complete a full chest workout. As I was leaving I saw Nick come in and talk about the challenge and what not. I didn’t think I could do it again at the time, but I knew if I didn’t do at least 315 there would be 0 chance of winning 😂
Imagine you get all hyped about benching 340 and possibly getting the $1000 cash reward but out in the distance you see two juiced up twins about 5’6-5’7 in height who look like they are on gear approaching the gym, then the guy hosting tells them what’s happening and they decide to give it a try 😂
Watching this kinda reminded me the old strength wars youtube channel. Those guys used to do like 375lbs bench x 10, 500lbs deadlift x 10 and overhead press 250lbs x 10. All in the space of like 10 minutes or so. Whoever finished faster won. Any OG remember that?
I knew he was never going to hit 315. “Yeah, I did it an hour ago.” As if he was talking himself up so when he fails now, we’ll all know he “hit it an hour ago.”
I mean.. I don't want to make fun of anyone and props to the guy for being there and working out but 35 kgs? (77 lbs)? Really? 0:53 Maybe he wanted 35 on each side 😂😂
This competition structure could be also applicable on the track. Let's say 400m. Each competitor guesses their time before they run. If they don´t beat their time, they are out. If they beat their time, the best guessed time wins.
I hear you man. Funny I was thinking the same thing while watching this video. I reached my PR about 8 years ago at 514. Can't come near that anymore but can still put 405 for a couple of reps.
😂😂 There was a time in my life I was benchpressing every single day because I wanted to hit 225 for 30 badly. The first thing I'd do before every gym session was max rep 225.... those times paid off 😅
I just have serious mental health issues and chasing those bigger numbers keeps me going. Strength ebbs and flows, I'm natural not enhanced so I'm fairly chuffed with my strength tbh. I don't often max out, today was 130kg x 4 clean reps and 1 dirty rep.@@StrictCurlChamp
I know it's only been 2 months but I hadn't trained my pr due to self doubt in a while. Got 160kg last week. Turns out I wasn't pushing myself hard enough. Was probably 155kg back then. Always try to do more than you think you can.
@05thouldm that's the spirit.. whatever you're afraid of, set the bar even higher than that. ALWAYS try to beat your yesterday whether it's in strength, less time, more reps, more time, beat your yesterday in any way you can... And that's a formula for success as long as you don't fall off. And if you aren't having success then you aren't training hard enough!
Hey Nick, turns out you had a P.E. class with my dad back in Sophomore year at Bishop Kelly, I don't know if you recognize his name but his name is Nick/Nicholas Rowles and he remembers how people made fun of you calling you "5 minute mile" it's pretty cool how I get to go to the same school as an Olympic athlete and I'm pretty sure you still hold the 800 or maybe it was the 400 meter record at BK.

Funny how everyone online can bench 315 but irl its rare😂😂😂
So true. I was shocked that swole guys in gyms can't all hit 3 plates.
You need to do lots of benching to get there. Lots of big Guys don’t bench or do it maybe once a week
