@Heath Sims The reason I said his form looks ridiculous was indeed mainly his legs, but in the end of the day they are part of the form of this movement. Did he do a good job? Yes, doing 17 MU even with this form is something most people can't do. But that doesn't mean his form was good, it was (in my eyes) still quite bad.
@Heath Sims Yeah, the first guys last few reps didn't count either in my opinion, youre right on that. Still, the only thing that I call a good form MU is a strict one, no use of leg momentum, etc. So from my perspective the second guy has bad form (because even if he keeps his legs together, he still uses them to create momentum upwards). Maybe that's because I am a perfectionist. As I said, he did a good job because most people can't even do MU with the form he used, but that doesn't make it good form. It wouldn't count as a single rep in a competition for example. That's the standard I uphold for myself anyway.
@mike sprigg Yeah, we used to wear an onion on our belts cos that was the fashion, and we did endless muscle ups all day long. Then we did one arm muscle ups with girls hangin off our legs. They couldn't help themselves cos we were beasts. Those were the days.

@r2l100 Looks like not one put in effort to fighting muscle failure. None of them had cramped hands afterwards, shaking hard, etc... You see nobody compensating for the slipping in their forearms, just giving into the slip. (Otherwise you'd see them try to curl their wrists to compensate. 22:38 is an exagerration of what I mean, but he's not quite at fatigue. Those two definitely did push, but one of them is w/ magnus and there's obviously something about the other, he's not just any rando.) Everyone was pretty chill and cool tbh, more than I expected... BUT... the surfer was by far the MOST chill and relaxed with it all. Nothing but good vibes coming from him, nice the entire time. Perfect exemplification of the stereotype, what a good type to be if you're gonna type it up at all. I'm sure he's got tons more nuance to him than the 2D surfer, but yeah... he does do them a proud justice either way. But by far, the coolest dude was buff Kylo Ren there... he beat Magnus, did a great job hanging, and was hell of a specimen overall. Congrats man!
This video really activated the competitor within me. 💪🏻 Since I got pregnant I did not really work out anymore, also since the birth of my daughter 6 months ago I did not do a lot of sport, I started a little bit of bouldering again, but still took it slow. When I watched this video today I was like „how long can I hang? I have no idea so let’s try!“ I ended up hanging for 60 seconds, not bad! I‘m really motivated now to do every day a little bit of hanging to see where I can go and if I can beat the times of the people in this video. 😁 feels good to have a sporty challenge again (that’s doable with a baby)!
The first guy doing the muscle ups had good form. After being an elite gymnast when was younger I normally dont like peoples muscleups due to their form and cheating using swings but all he needs to do is straighten the legs, legs tighter together and point them toes. Mags muscle ups at the end with the left arm first then the right arm flooded me with memories from training, not being allowed to stop untill you fall during an attempt. Love it
14:33 When I saw the first rep I already knew this dude was gonna beat the record, damn he had some serious explosive strength! I don't know if he would've made it if he was forced to do it in the perfect form though. Regardless he deserved it!
He was kipping like crazy, first guy had best form almost completely excluded legs and had them locked , magnus excluded legs but did not have them locked, this guy was swinging like crazy. He couldn’t do 8 with the form magnus had
Always had great grip strenght, in highschool i did like 7 minutes on a larger bar, but honestly i think the best way is to go for opposite grip one hand each way and switch every so often, and also try to force your hand as high as you can get it over the bar, because otherwise it starts to feel like a pinch and not a grip.
Hey Magnus, I found myself forgetting what a few climbing moves were called recently and it made me think to look it up but alot of times it's just a written explanation. You should make a video with demonstrations showing the individual moves, flagging, dyno, barndoor, etc etc. I think a majority of your followers would find it helpful
The technique of the muscle up winner was to loosen his grip and open his hand at the top which gave his grip an extra edge, a break for a quick second. After all, we saw from the hanging challenge that grip is the first thing to go! :) Great video guys!
the 17 muscle ups guy won because he had the best technique to save energy. he used more momentum to get higher and then need less muscle strength for the rest. good job
I think what strike me here. I was watching same thing over and over again with smile on my face. It doesn't matter what they were doing. But just generally speaking just watching nice people full of respect to each other.
Way to go Magnus! I admire your strength and fortitude in this challenge, not to mention your epic free solo climb with the legendary Alex Honnold. Well deserved kudus!
Videos like this are so motivating and makes me want to work out. I tried the hanging after watching this vid and only managed a minute. My bar was thinner so if I were to try it at the muscle beach bar i might not even pass 40 seconds lol

Video idea/Challenge Idea. "Fragile holds"/ How delicate can you be? Can you use a loaf of bread as a secondary hold? Can you use a weak plank as a primary? Put up a board, plaster it, put holds up it, let it dry. Take your chances... which ones set, which ones didin't.... etc.
It's always the unassuming ones that achieve the most - never judge a book by its cover... Great video, Magnus - mainly here for the climbing content, but love these 'fun' videos a tonne!
My girlfriend and I tried indoor climbing for the first time and the catalyst was me finding you on RUclips! I had a lot of fun and did much better than I thought I would for my first time. I had no idea that there was even a gym like that around where I live!
13:39 It's not that they want to hide it, it's that they don't want to be embarrassed. Having actually built their bodies up, they likely have a better idea of what they can and can't do. 16:45 Thumb over bar doesn't counteract the torque as much, which is what causes people to slip. Also, it's not going to provide a lot of extra strength, given it's not even in the direction your thumb is meant to apply force. There's a reason most people don't hang that way.
Yo such an awesome video as always! its always cool to see the abilities of people youve never met. Would love to see more of this style in the future!

@@highviewbarbell You can blame her for that, when she was in her 40' and bragged about it, but 66, come one, that's an achievement.
I loved this video, always great to see everyone having fun and such a positive attitude
Funny to see Magnus advertising for a t-shirt/hoodie when 90% of the time he doesn't wear one 😂
We wear them so he doesn't have to.
also its not dirtbag if you have to pay for it
@@pixelcrust What?
@@thomasbecker9676 its called dirtbag tank top
@@pixelcrust so hand-me-downs and dumpster dive clothes only? Or are a few dollars at the thrift store acceptable too? Sure hope climbing gear doesn't fall in the "must be free" category...
Hey Magnus, would love to see more climbing videos with other legendary climbers. The Alex Honnold and Adam Ondra colabs were amazing. Would love to see you meet up with Chris Sharma or Sasha DiGiulian.
Great videp Magnus, its nice to see this kind of videos, really liked it!
and i amazed by the 60 year old, she was stronger than most!
old person strength is no joke
I can't hang even 60 seconds bruuh
The dude that won muscle up has a very good body for climbing. Tall, thin and shoulders and pacs already trained. Lot of body tention, the deep muscles well trained👍 thats why he won. He had good dynamic movement as well. Very well done
Magnus is awesome. I’ve always watched his videos but after seeing his heart and kindness during the marine training made me a big fan.
19:43 You got the grip brother :D
Magnus you were my inspiration to start climbing. Thank you.
Dude with the glasses seems like a hilarious guy :D
Also, interesting how a lot of people didn't want to try, because they thought it would be a scam with a buy-in.
you guys should step up the challenge budget like
hang 1min = 10$
2min = 25$
3min = 50$
record = 100$
10 pull up = 10$
15 pull up = 25 $
20 pull up = 50$
magnus record = 100$
you would have much more engagement and more happy people trying at least for the 1st stage reward :)
This is quite inspiring tbh, every time you work out you become a better version of yourself.
Muscle up man made me burst out laughing because of how obviously he was about to beat the challenge just on the first one
Everyone was pretty chill and cool tbh, more than I expected... BUT... the surfer was by far the MOST chill and relaxed with it all.
Magnus was on a Norwegian TV show two years ago where he hung for 4:18. Would've been fun to see him up against Brandon.
He actually did 5 minutes in the final episode, he only did 4:18 because he didn't need to do more to beat the record.
@@Thunderbearim fax. Magnus holds second and first place in "jerngrep" in "Mesternes Mester" with 4.18 and 5.00
This video really activated the competitor within me.
So wholesome. I love it!
Love it
Cake! 🍰
had to turn the brightness down when magnus took his shirt of 🌝 great video as always!! Thank you for providing such high quality content!!
for a big guy to do muscle ups that clean is really impressive. props to you mark
You guys are awesome! Love the energy!! Herlig Magnus - du er en sann inspirasjon! Du lager så mye konge innhold! Keep it up guys!
Yeahhh go girls! I also love how fearless the kids were, absolute bosses 😎 as always, amazing video Magnus!
thing as a kid you still got that crazy stamina going lol
@@NonsensicalSpudz and a freaking sweet weight to power ratio
During the whole video I had a smile on my face. best workout I have done so far. Thanks
14:33 When I saw the first rep I already knew this dude was gonna beat the record, damn he had some serious explosive strength!
I don't know if he would've made it if he was forced to do it in the perfect form though. Regardless he deserved it!
its not like magnus had perfect form either though
@@fivr. no one had good form in the video lol
@@karembapayet2263 first guy had best form, pretty much as clean as it gets from the looks of it.
Such a fun and lighthearted video! I loved it
Hey Magnus, I found myself forgetting what a few climbing moves were called recently and it made me think to look it up but alot of times it's just a written explanation.
:) Great video guys!
realized I was smiling throughout the whole video, everyone was nice and having fun!! 😊
the 17 muscle ups guy won because he had the best technique to save energy.
he used more momentum to get higher and then need less muscle strength for the rest.
good job
He's also strong af tho
That said, the explosiveness he showed is super impressive!
It was the worst technique, but the best way to win the challenge :)
@@Rafaelinux This right here, his form was really bad
People don't realize how buch kipping helps. Though tbf, they said form didn't matter, so it was smart
I think what strike me here. I was watching same thing over and over again with smile on my face. It doesn't matter what they were doing. But just generally speaking just watching nice people full of respect to each other.
Stacked Adam Driver is my new favorite Magnus channel side character 😂 it’s the glasses that give him power!!
This made me LOL. Stacked Adam Driver 🤣🤣🤣
These videos always make me smile, it’s just great vibes
Way to go Magnus! I admire your strength and fortitude in this challenge, not to mention your epic free solo climb with the legendary Alex Honnold. Well deserved kudus!
This is so wholesome! Great premise, and the way Magnus and William are so supportive is really sweet.
Videos like this are so motivating and makes me want to work out. I tried the hanging after watching this vid and only managed a minute. My bar was thinner so if I were to try it at the muscle beach bar i might not even pass 40 seconds lol
Hahaha. I cant stop watching Magnus regardless of what he does. Free Soloing, Ninja Warrier, Military or Muscle Beach. Mostly like climbing though
Bro same I find myself checking back frequently to see if there’s new videos. His vibe is amazing
15:00 with the huge glasses and wild hair, I was certain this was Anton in disguise or something, but this dude is for real haha. Strong guy and pretty chill too.
All these dudes going max reps on muscle up with no warm up, they gonna be feeling that!
This video scores 10/10 in the "wholesome" category :)
That was super fun to watch omg :D Thanks Magnus and Brandon, you're also freakishly strong
Sunglasses guy absolutely nailed it too. He just did great overall
Yo such an awesome video as always! its always cool to see the abilities of people youve never met. Would love to see more of this style in the future!
wow I cannot appreciate more this channel and the fact people are not watching this from my home country judging from the lack of the native speaking comments :D.
I’ve done 10 muscle ups in one go in my lifetime seeing how strong that actually is I’m kinda proud now I can’t do one or if I could I probably hurt myself by I weigh much more lol I needa get back in shape
thats insane wow
dang!!! 10 is crazy bro, you gotta be mad strong to do that
@@amr1t_ lol used to be I remember trying so much to do my first one . What helped was getting those door pull up bars and every time I pass I do some pull ups it gave me a ton of strength
This was so feel good that I couldn't help but smile while watching.
Such a light-hearted fun video. I am still smiling. Great summer beach mood!
Thanks for brightening my day fellas. Keep the stellar vids coming dudes...
Great vid! Seems like everyone had fun! And you go Gretchen 💪🏼
15:20 the guy had the technic. He uses the momentum to muscle up.
Great collab! You two vibe off each other very well
first time on channel, loved the spirit and the sportsmanship. Really fun guys, well done all of you.
Before Magnus became "famous" youtuber he did over 20 muscle ups after a climbing session on video.
I want those hoodies so baaad such a good looking design, love your sense of style
