Hot water cylinder goes in at the house renovation.... does this mean they will be in for Christmas????....only time will tell Please give this a thumbs up and drop me a comment below if you think they will be in for Christmas
Hi Mark, installation looking nice and neat also coming on a treat now. I think it looks fine with the press fit fittings, but it was nice to see some soldering on the 28mm copper. Looking forward to the next episode in this series, have a great week and take care, regards, Chris. 👍👍👍
Hi Mark. As always, very neat installation! As a kitchen and bathroom fitter my plumbing knowledge is limited to what I need to get my job done, but I am really impressed with your planning and commitment to quality work. I have learnt a lot from your channel on just the basic skills and appreciate the content. Have a great Christmas mate, Sean.
Very tidy mate! The ONLY tiny thing i woukd have done differently is i would have had the heating pipes behind the vertical pipes you did first. That way they would have been clipped and had support. You could also do double munsen rings and support cross pipes like that from one wall clip.
Hi Mark that pipe work looked quality, nice and shiny and it all looks like one of those tanks where you distill whisky from 😂. Here what’s these albo’s you keep going on about? Oh it’s copper elbows 😂😂😂 and there’s me thinking of Albanians (Albo’s). It’s all looking great even your favourite IKEA sink. Looking forward to the next episode. Keep the good work up dude 🙂👍
One thing you forgot, I always put a gate valve on the cylinder return to crank down the flow rate going through the cylinder, if that’s going back down the return at full velocity it could stop the heating circulation, seen so many problems with heating systems over the years where the installer hasn’t done that.
You don't throttle coil flow on a cylinder with a high power coil. That Megaflo will be a 20+kW coil. You configure the system as Hot Water Priority that way you get fast cylinder reheat times and less interruption to heating.
Excellent workman ship fair play. Would you be able to advise why my ultra steel cylinder once the oil heating turns off the cylinder goes cold in a few hours, no sign of any leaks pump is not cycling. There is a heat guard UFH blender valve fitted and set at 60 degrees, would it be possible if cold water was passing and entering the system and cooling it ? Or hot escaping into the cold side ? Any thoughts would be greatly appreciated
@@MJTiffPlumbing thanks very much for the reply, it’s a large single story house build up in the air and the service room is under the house so it couldn’t possibly be a lagging issue as all the pipe work run under the house because it’s build on large timber joists up in the air. But it’s hard to see it loosing heat in 4/5 hours once the heating is off 🤷♂️ Its has an underfloor heating system and the boiler and service room is under the house, when the heating and hot water system is turned off what stops the cold water coming back down pipe work and pushing the hot water back out of the coil in the cylinder and into the heating circuit ? It only has one motorised valve at the cylinder for the hot water, and can’t see anything else in relation to one way valves etc it’s not your standard house so trying to get a regular plumber to look at it is impossible.
That looks cracking, Mark: it'll be a shame to box it in. Nice to have a job like that with room to work, time to think and decent fittings. Must have felt like Christmas come early!
I’m looking at doing my unvented course in the new year but I haven’t worked on them much purely as you have to be certified to work on them. I’m finding the one day course to do the G3 very is pretty much all theory based. Is it basically installing to manufacturers instructions aswell as adhering to building regs with all the safety controls?
Recently did my G3 @tomwills2309 it is a 1 day course as you say in the main all theory. Not much practical at all, this is based on you having knowledge on vented systems. Does t really cover that much on wiring
@@MrBerpsI thought as much. I have a good understanding of vented/gravity fed systems but unvented with the S & Y plans is that throws me. I probably should try get with another heating engineer who installs these systems to get a better understanding before I go on the courses I think.
Hi Mark, good video as usual. Nice and neat. p.s. what happened to the video or whatever with P.B. and Alan Hart that was previewed in the gent’s toilet somewhere?
As a customer rather than a professional I prefer press-fit because it looks better! Solder joints always seem to end up turning green and dark stains of old flux everywhere.
Hi Mark, Nothing to do with the video. I'm trying to find a small unvented cylinder to do a shower. There's two showers in the property one is fed from the combi and I need the other one to be fed from a small cylinder. Have you or any of your viewers come across this. Cheers
@@MJTiffPlumbing tbh mate I thought you’d share it if you’d cocked up. Best thing about your videos is you’re honest that we can all make mistakes. Keep them coming bud.
Hi Mark, Have to say...Not a fan of press fit as I think the fittings look clumsy and bulky especially the cross over/crank set. I think they are a lot cleaner and easier to use, but I don't think they look as good as sets/bends made by hand benders. Sorry mate just a personal opinion. However despite that, another cracking video with lots of good tips and know how. Rich
No Pete….. Does your keyboard only allow stupid comments 🤣 Bellend In my 27 years as a plumber I’ve done plenty of bends, pass overs and sets with my bender…… but thanks for the DHC comment😉
@@MJTiffPlumbing The word cowboy is rather insulting ...joking or not. It leads me to believe that people like petebarby are simply jealous of your workmanship and out of frustration they respond with childish comments. In future i would ignore the bellends. Great work as always Mark and your time making theses videos is much appreciated.
Really don't understand why anyone likes megaflo cylinders. They take ages to service and if the expansion vessel bit fails it's a ball ache to resolve which ultimately would cost the customer loads of money to sort out.
Best unvented cylinder on the market if installed correctly. After 20 years there might be issues with the air pocket which is simple to resolve.40 quid for a potable EV and it will happily do another 20 years.
@@iancampbell582 that's not entirely true. I guess you've not come across a cylinder where the membrane has failed causing showers with filters to block constantly. Try removing all of that from a cylinder costs a lot more than £40. A new ev might cost £40 but try finding a plumber who'd fit that for free 😂. These cylinders are only good for fitters because there is less pipework and that's it. 20yrs doesn't compare to the 25 or 50yr warranties you get on other cylinders either.

I really wish all plumbers took the care you on making the pipe work neat and tidy! Great work
Thankyou mate, kind words
Smashing neat pipework Mark....looks superb buddy.👍
Thanks mate
Looking great and neat mate. I’m pondering myself about pressfit.
Thanks mate…
Loving your work Mark. Precise concise and as ever well explained. Good old megaflow! Fairly simple yet decent enough.

Looking good Mark
Thanks 👍
Great vid mate as always 👍 love my press gun 👊
I’m getting to grips with mine now
Nice work 👍 very tidy with press fittings

Nice looking job there mark 👍👍👍👍
Looks like you have mastered the press fit tool .makes things faster .👍👍
I must admit I am enjoying it now I’ve got to grips with it a little more

Yep I know what you mean, it’s not to hard to fit one of needed but to be fair it’s been up and running and it’s spot on….. that’s coming soon
@@MJTiffPlumbingI never bother with a gate valve, want full flow through the cylinder so it heats up quicker
👍🏼👍🏼👍🏼
Yep we have no issues on this at all…. It’s nice and warm and running a treat
Yeah I’ve never had that issue. Don’t like gate valves either on pressurised systems

Sounds like a lagging/issue containing the heat within the system issue mate

I would suggest black tape for the cold water and red tape for the hot water.

Easy job last time I did a mega flow it had a secondary circulation and the return went back in the cold on a none return valve
No need for secondary HW on this one👍🏼

Balancing valve on cylinder. Also cheap iso's on heating 😶
