i don't think any small ducks were harmed. I live in a small village where i can see ducks and small chickens. We buy a big duck for xmas it weights about 3-4 kgs. I can see that the that the duckling follows the big duck and it happens pretty common that the big one walks over the small ducklings. I asked my neighbor about it and he told me they are a bit stupid and aren't aware of the surrounding but he also told me that the small ones aren't harmed.
