That's another beautiful piece of art to add to the rest of your beautiful projects. There's just something special about wood projects. Watching the piece get carved was very enjoyable, too. Thanks for sharing this with us.
Totally stunning, when I first saw this listing I was hoping for the waves to have been carved by hand but watching the CNC was cool. Thanks for sharing
I never comment ordinarily as it's either sycophantic or inane, however this piece is stunning - great idea, good video; you make some lovely, creative work - cheers
Yeah it was incredible! Well about the video, I actually started today on one. I am carving a pistol out of walnut. Remember I said I would try a carving? Well I am kind of getting into Airsoft so I decided to make a desktop model of a pistol but wood. I have actually had a very hard time thinking of new ideas and projects. I think it’s just a rough patch but luckily my latest video is doing great (2 weeks ago), it’s crazy how fast time flys.👍🏽 how is the airport creation going?
I saw it on IG and it looks great! I know how hard it can be to get an idea, but dont worry, it is only temporary.. We actually started staining all the beam for the airport.. In a couple of months, We should start the assembly.. But who knows. They moved the deadline 3 times now so I wouldn't be surprised if they did it again..
I've never been a fan of modern art, but there are some pieces of woodwork that scream ART this is one of them. Sorry about the description but I can't think of a better way of describing this.
Awsome piece..im not gona say whether or not its art because a machine is used but if one were to do that by hand i would give a hundred time more respect
Watching the piece transform from the rough cutting from the machine to when you had finished sanding was magic. Great idea (thanks Brian) and thanks for stepping it up a few notches! Also, noticed the link above to your Instagram did not work on my machine, but a quick search on "lignum" found you (#lignum). Cheers, David.
Wwwwwwoooooooowwwwwwwww i needed to listen to the very end of the sound Thank you Lignum, for making desire you do me sommething for keeps Wwwwwwoooooooowwwwwwwww what an experience you all are
Dear Sir, It would appear your lovely furniture is not exactly thief friendly. Another fine example with a remarkable visual effect that certainly complements your reclining chair very well. Your room looks a little like a showroom/museum of modern art. Very well executed & very lovely to look at too. Kind regards.
Thank you once again! Everybody tells me I should start selling these, but there is something in putting them all together in a same room and growing the collection.. :D Kind regards..
Dear Sir, Thank you very much for your courteous reply. perhaps you ought to consider valued opinions from those close to you. At any rate you'll never know till you try it. I wish you well whichever you chose to go. Kind regards.
Looks great!!! I have just started playing with a KUKA now as well... What software do you use for the paths? I have used ArtCAM, PowerMill and KUKA|PRC. I am very familiar with RhinoCAM, but have not looked into a work flow for the KUKA yet. Keep up the awesome work!
:D glad you like it man! I wasn't sure If you'l ever see this video, So glad you have! U are trying out kukas also! That is awesome! I'm using irbcam software.. It's super simple with some quirks of it's own, but I like it..
Thank you Clyde! I love the blue stain look too! Good thing the investor on my current project doesn't so I have a bunch of spare blue spruce for hobby projects hehe..
Not my original idea, i found it on Brians instructables page.. I first started making a 3d model and it took ages.. this is much simpler and makes great results..
Google is our friend! www.instructables.com/id/Simulating-Water-Drops-on-Wood/ Brians instructable on the original project, guessing you followed this?
Dear Lignum! I'm trying to make something cool for me new garden, but don't know what to make. Would love to get an idea for you, because, you clearly are, the best woodworker on RUclips.
That really is the hardest part of any project I make.. Getting the idea.. Sometimes I think about it for weeks without result, And sometimes I wake up and there it is.. I love getting suggestions from you guys! :D
I would start by thinking of what I need.. for example a bench.. then work my way up.. First the materials I have on my disposal, then the design and finally how to do it with the tools that i have..
lignum oh, thanks for the reply. I have very limited tools, so I thought I'll make (don't know how to say it in English) like a roof. I'm modeling and texturing it now in Blender, may I send it to you once it finishes?
Awesome result! To minimize processing time, wouldn't it have been a better idea to skip the roughing and let the ball end bit do all the work? Lowering the stepover would reduce stress on the bit and have resulted in a more finished piece.
I notice that you mentioned in your description that you lowered the precision of your CNC to expedite the processing time, but it was a trade-off because it took much more manual labor to sand it. If you were to do it again would you have done it differently? And is minimizing the time spent on the CNC a big consideration in the shop, considering the work flow/other jobs? Or were you just impatient and didn't want a 10 hour cut time lol. Great work as usual, I love how you blend the boundary between engineering, design, and art!
Thank you man, Glad you like it! If did it again, I would use parallel finishing in just one direction without zig-zaging.. It ads a lot to precision and doesn't ad many points. It takes a bit longer to mill but I would trade one hour of robot milling for one less hour of sanding hehe :D I do my hobby projects mostly on Sundays or after working hours so the robot time is not that much of an issue, but mine unfortunately is..
I have a question, does it make a loot of difference to use a cheap dremel like tool for a few dollars or a real dremel, I would like to use it for carving. Thanks for the help
Hm, not sure what to answer.. I have something in between.. Never had anything cheaper or more expensive so I don't know what to compare it with.. But I'm satisfied how it works..
What the human mind and a little help from a robot can create, Awesome! What was the machining time for the project? How much step over did you use for the ball end finishing pass?
I believe it was 1 mm.. I wish I used less so the sanding would be easier.. And It took about 4 hours of finishing if I remember correctly.. Glad you like it!
That's a lot of hand sanding! Great work. I'm really curious about those two kuka robots. I know big companies like Autodesk run shops with tons of CNC machines for their software developers to play around with to test their software.those are not production shops. The cost of their machines will never be recovered from woodworking production alone. Is Lignum a similar setup to those Autodesk shops or are you an actual woodwork production shop? I'm just curious, since most shops I've seen, even on RUclips, employ only a three axis or a five axis CNC at most. Thanks for sharing your work. They are very inspiring.
Spectacular work! What's it like owning one of those machines compared to a traditional 3 axis cnc? Any other benefits besides it looking really cool 😎?
I use a lot of different methods.. Simplest way is to set the robot arm to just one zero point and measure the difference of how far you insert the milling bit each time you change it.. Then just import that difference in to software..
lignum it is great mind concept creation wood and it should be show on gallery exposition LiGNUM. Very relaxing studio meditation. The next idea i suggest will be wilderness sands waves dunes with oasi palms water to make contrast from sand wood to water life from your point of view!
You are a meticulous craftsman, an engineer and an artist, all of them at the same time. Your work is very inspiring for the rest of us.
thank you man! All of you guys are the biggest inspiration to me! Reading your comments is a motivation like no other..
I love how understated this design is. Absolutely amazing! You're a true artist, my friend. Great work!
Thank you Jimmy, Glad you like it!
That's another beautiful piece of art to add to the rest of your beautiful projects. There's just something special about wood projects. Watching the piece get carved was very enjoyable, too. Thanks for sharing this with us.
Thank you for watching! I'm glad you enjoyed watching this project! Thank you!
Totally stunning, when I first saw this listing I was hoping for the waves to have been carved by hand but watching the CNC was cool. Thanks for sharing
That has to be the coolest wall art ever! That CNC machine looks like it should be building cars!
let me tell you a secret, it was building bmw cars before lignum acquired it. :)
I've seen a lot of wood shop machines, but none of them match the level of "coolness" these Kuka robot arms have.
Kudos, Lignum! Cheers!
Haha, After all this time I have them, They still amaze me..
this robot's name is "killer carpenters"
I never comment ordinarily as it's either sycophantic or inane, however this piece is stunning - great idea, good video; you make some lovely, creative work - cheers
Ahahaha, You are the first to describe my videos like this XD Glad you like it!
Only one word to describe it. BEAUTIFUL!!!!!
Thany you! :)
Simply amazing! Your videos are so relaxing to watch. Thank you for sharing your skill set and creativity.
It’s a painting without paint! Man you’ve really gotten it down Lignum!
Glad you like it Eli! When is a new vid coming up? :D
Yeah it was incredible! Well about the video, I actually started today on one. I am carving a pistol out of walnut. Remember I said I would try a carving? Well I am kind of getting into Airsoft so I decided to make a desktop model of a pistol but wood. I have actually had a very hard time thinking of new ideas and projects. wood reliefs go back probably thousands of years
This is awesome. Your robots are amazing. Very cool design and execution
Thank you man :D
LOL! You even hand sanded. Impressive shop!
If there was ever a time to say it, its now. If I had a robot I could build stuff like that too. Nice project.
I was amazed when I found out that they are not that expensive!
Beautifully combined technology and art!
This channel is always satisfying. Greatly appreciate your work and imagination. Thank you!
Thank you for following my work! Glad you enjoy it! :D
J adore toujours autant vos réalisations.
Merci de vos partages
great work & best CNC ever !
Thank you man! :D I saw a couple of your cars.. They are spectacular!
I love it!!! I would really like to see it stained blue and clear coated. Natural wood tone looks awesome, probably better!!! Keep it up!
Thank you Patrick! I'm glad you like it! The blue or even some chameleon paint would really look nice! Thanks for the idea!
That's what I call old world craftsmanship!
I've never been a fan of modern art, but there are some pieces of woodwork that scream ART this is one of them. Sorry about the description but I can't think of a better way of describing this.
What a great headboard for a waterbed! 👍
A awesome collection there and one more to it....like your R2....
Ahaha thank you Robert! Soon I wont have any more space to put them all..
Your videos are truly mesmerising. Amazing and inspiring work - that hand sanding looked fun! 😂
Yeah, I was wondering why my arm was hurting two days after.. XD Glad you like it!
Awsome piece..im not gona say whether or not its art because a machine is used but if one were to do that by hand i would give a hundred time more respect
Yeah, well, if I had a million dollar robot arm I could....nah, nah, never mind, I still couldn't do this. Well done Sir, well done.
:D Glad you like it! It's not that hard to master as one would think.. And for a million bucks, you could get close to a hundred of these hehe..
Really fascinating work with a soothing music
Thank you, glad you like it!!
Thankyou. Your immagination and your skills have no limit
Thank you for watching! :D
Thank you for the heads up! I appreciate it! Glad you like the video and, yes, Thank you Brian for the idea!
Wwwwwwoooooooowwwwwwwww i needed to listen to the very end of the sound
Thank you Lignum, for making desire you do me sommething for keeps
Wwwwwwoooooooowwwwwwwww what an experience you all are
Now that's the best toy for the workshop.
Can't argue with that :D
The final result is the most beautiful room.
Dear Sir,
It would appear your lovely furniture is not exactly thief friendly. Another fine example with a remarkable visual effect that certainly complements your reclining chair very well. Im the kind of person that love most hand tool woodworking and avoid machine por power tool woodworking. But i have yo agree that this is amazing

Brian! We miss you. Please return to share those inspiring videos :`)
Come back to RUclips Brian
As always a beautiful job. Congratulations!!!
Thank you for watching!
Simply glorious -- and I loved the effect with the (mineral-stained? spalted?) spruce. Clyde
Thank you Clyde! I love the blue stain look too! Good thing the investor on my current project doesn't so I have a bunch of spare blue spruce for hobby projects hehe..
If I like it?... I love it!
Thanks for sharing.
Congrats from Romania!
Thank you Teodor!
Greetings from Croatia!
Nice trick getting the spacing by lining the gradient window with wave bumps :)
Not my original idea, i found it on Brians instructables page.. I first started making a 3d model and it took ages.. this is much simpler and makes great results..
Amazing! I would love a more in depth video on how you did the photoshop and cad work!

Brians instructable on the original project, guessing you followed this?
Yeah that would be awesome! This is the part i was extremely interested in as well!
Yes, brian has a real good in depth step by step on how to create the heightfield image in PS. I will put this link in video description
Wunderschön wie immer
Friendly neighborhood lignum, greetings from Serbia. U R the best Balkanic youtube woodworker
Thank you so much Saša! I really appreciate your comment! Balkan is a pretty big place hehe..
The music was a pleasant choice. Beautiful work.
Nice elegant wall art. Can be watched for hours :-) Congrats for 100 K buddy!
Thank you! :D I have seen you've put up a new video! It's on my today's watch list before bed time! :D
lignum Sure man. No worries :-). Was something quick for my niece. Keep up the good work.
Beautiful work, but disappointing at the same time. I thought it was going to be done by hand, then I'd be impressed.
😲😲😲😲😲😲 very very good!!!! 👌👌👌
Thank you Eloy! :)
So cool, I would own that piece in a heartbeat!
Glad you like it!:D

Simple but beautifully complex!
Holy smokes that is very cool! I need a BOT!
👏👏
An another salute from India
🙏🙏-
Greetings from Croatia!
this is plain crazy - I love it!
Thank you Frankie!
Beautiful works of art
Thank you for your comment! Glad you like it:D
Awesome result!

Awesome, a wooden artpiece. Again. Thank you so much for sharing! :)
Thank you for watching, and for a nice comment again ;)
Спасибо тебе за те эмоции которые которые ты даришь! Каждый раз смотрю и получаю огромное удовольствие!
Absolutely stunning!
Thank you Gingerbread!
That is so fire!!!
Very cool! Could you have used a sanding head for your robotic arm?
That's spectacular.
Thank you Sivert!
majestic! I wanna touch it. Lignum always getting a thumbs up
:D Thank you! And yes, It feels really nice to touch! Totally different..
YAY!!!! you glued wood together
Wow! Great finish!
Yeah, My brother said high gloss lacquer would be nice .. :D
that is a very cool piece
Thank you Peter!
Wow that's beautiful! I want to make something like it but I'm struggling to think of a way to do it without a CNC
WHAT ABOUT A ROUTER ON AN ADJUSTABLE ARM WITH A RAISED PANEL BIT?
Dang, raised panel bit. Take the bearing off. Cut the middle section with a straight bit beforehand. It's so crazy it just might work! :)
The interference between the sets of ripples would be the trickiest part for sure.
I would try with an angle grinder and a whole lot of patience..
Powercarving tools, specifically angle grinder attachments, like carbide burrs or Arbortechs Turbo Plane (I've done this on my channel!)
Great work as usual!
Thank you Sebastian!
Wow man, so beautiful!
Very creative. Where can I get a CNC like that?
love it, want that robots !, but why no vacuum cleaner attachment ?
hmmm.. I should build one.. I doubt they make it for kukas..
Very impressive work!
Thank you Brodie!
Simply beautyfull
Thank you, I appreciate it!

That is AWESOME!!!
Thank you Travis!
I am new to the channel. I love your work. I wish I could make some laminated beams. It looks like a lot of fun
It really is not that much to it.. You just need a lot of clamps, a planer, and you are good to go basically..
lignum
What type of wood and glue do you use?
Dont forget to put your burned signature lignum.. love in every your job.. very awesome
That would be awesome.. I'm thinking of making a stamp ever since I saw Eli using it on his channel..

Thank you!:)
Really like your videos - very creative and excellent craftsmanship. What wood species did you use on this project?
What the human mind and a little help from a robot can create, Awesome! What was the machining time for the project? How much step over did you use for the ball end finishing pass?

Шедевр!
Which KUKA is this please? And what price range would you be looking at for something similar? Thanks
ART
It is a great idea, but the prestige goes to the one who does it by hand.
Honestly this is amazing. The only thing more impressive is if you carved it by hand. Cx
That would be a huge undertaking I would gladly try, but unfortunately I don't have enough free time atm..
lignum i meant that you could scale this project down a bit for a hand carved version. I love the videos! Keep em coming! Cx
Absolutely amazing! What is the storey behind the robot arms?
these robots were used in bmw factory before lignum purchased them from bmw.
Really cool! I just watched a bunch of videos about the Kuka arms playing music, using a katana, and playing Pingpong.
What did you use on the base to not make the glue stick?
Just a regular non stick wax, comes in spray cans or liquid..
Why don’t you program that machine to do the sanding too? It’s great but I would like to have it done all by hand.
I would too, but sometimes I just don't have time.. But putting a sander on a kuka, now that's an idea!
WoW! Nice work and beautiful piece. How do you set the robot arm @ a zero point after changing the milling bit? Im curious about that.
I use a lot of different methods.. Simplest way is to set the robot arm to just one zero point and measure the difference of how far you insert the milling bit each time you change it.. Then just import that difference in to software..
Fantástico trabajo! una obra de arte y el robot ayuda mucho me gustaría tener uno.
Wow!
Stunning!
Glad you like it!
This video shows your mastery of your craft to the fullest. What would be your final asking price for this piece?
Davinelulinvega07 I want to know as well..
I really wasn't making this piece with intention of selling it so I really can't say..
lignum it is great mind concept creation wood and it should be show on gallery exposition LiGNUM. Very relaxing studio meditation. The next idea i suggest will be wilderness sands waves dunes with oasi palms water to make contrast from sand wood to water life from your point of view!
The sand dunes sound amazing.. I will use the motif in one of my net projects for sure! Thank you for the idea!
so for hanging you just drill some holes at angle and the screw olds it in place? or is there some hardware you attach?
What to say besides amazing!!!
Thank you !:D
Love it! I follow Brian too, although he has not posted in a long time.
Yeah, one year almost.. would love to see him back!
Great idea, Great Job
Thank you!
nice job i have ever seen , BUT WHAT KIND OF CNC u r using , pleas answer me
It's a KUKA kr 150 industrial robot.
What software do you use to create the CAM file? Did you retrofit Kuka robot or using an original controller. Thanks for sharing.
I'm using irbcam software. The robot came straight from the line, I short circuited a few wires and that's it..
Thanks for the info. Really nice application for the robotic arms. Will learn more about irbcam.
Beautiful
Thank you!:)
