We shot over to the Bradenton Motorsports Park this weekend for some drag racing with Leroy and Mullet! We had some bad luck sadly with Leroy's LS engine as it torched a massive hole through our cylinder head! Mullet fought through one round but didn't have enough for that darn green mustang!

Mullet has done his job and then some, no reason to be frustrated or bothered by it, the only problem is you're going well beyond mullets job at this point. If anything, I'd say it's a testament to how well you built him, that he's still holding up this well with what you're putting him through. Well done boys.
Yup, never intended to be a 28 car, but he's out here 225mph goofin' and running respectively with some legit, pure race cars. Plus from what I've gathered, they're about an afternoon's of work away from Mullet being perfectly capable street car
Wasn't the goal of mullet from day 1 of design to do deep 6s consistently?
I think Cleet was frustrated cuz if he'd stayed hooked up, he probably runs a mid/low 6.40...Mullets best run ever. But, yes I agree, Mullet has done his job, time for a better platform, that car has gone above and beyond for sure.

You know cleet, you make a point that your pushing it way faster than you ever intended, it’s an el Camino doing 230 in a quarter mile (not to mention what it could do if the gears were lengthened a bit and you tuned it for a 1/2) 😂 it’ll be sad seeing mullet get phased out but can’t wait to see what’s next

mullet was built to be the ultimate drag and drive street car and over time we lost that trying to go faster. we need a dedicated drag only car for these types of events. can't wait to see what you build.

Brett making ole Cleet spend some money on a new build, kind of glad because he is getting in the danger zone with that chassis imo. Strap an LS back in it and turn it back into a D&D car so it can enjoy the rest of its years in the fleet.
The LS was popping head gaskets and tuliping valves every weekend, best bet is the brodix 540

The other problem with that is it’s been a few years since then and all of the classes have only gotten more competitive. Could be possible, but I don’t necessarily see mullet sticking around longer term

@@klm2fm4 people with the most competitive cars won't compete every year in D&D events because it's expensive as hell and the events are more for fun than reputation or ranks. Some years will be harder for mullet than others.
I think alot of people forget how different Mullet is to the cars you’re competing against in every way. Its crazy what you guys have managed to pull off already with what is honestly a huge handicap of a chassis.

They’ve already found the limit of factory corvette chassis with Leroy, no reason to put more motor in ruby than what’s in Leroy without doing a 4 link rear

The Cleetus team's specialty has always been breaking records against self-imposed tremendous odds. I think they were just a little shy of being the first 8-second stick shift Corvette, but they did it with Leroy while the other guys had bodies. I find it wholesome that they push their cars to the limits because you should always strive to get the most out of what you have instead of swapping it out as soon as something flashier or easier comes along. This way you don't have to feel bad when it is time to move on because you know there is nothing more what you're trading in can do for you.
I really appreciate how hard it was for Cleetus to say it was time to move on from Mullet. They have been trying to get that car up there for a while. Nice job you guys!

I think the difference here is that Brett only has one car to work on and Cletus is working on 10+ cars. Managing as channel, team, clothing line, entertainment facility, family, friends, etc.
If Cleet could just work on just Mullet. He would have it dialed all the way in.

FINALLY! After the podcast talking about how Mullet was already passed what it can do and nothing more could be done, I thought he would have built a new car then, not keep trying to run it. I have been waiting for this day for Cleetus to finally make the jump. You know he's going to build a monster from the ground up. Been waiting for a Cleetus Pro Mod for awhile now and finally we are going to see one. LET'S GOOOO!!!! You already got the guys building Leroy a body, build a custom chassis and have them build it a body and full send!!!! I know it will be awhile, maybe even next year but I know Cleetus and he has liquid competition flowing through his veins. Can't wait to see what he builds.

Mullet has been an absolute unit but he just doesn't have the legs to take you further. Time for a ground up build that can keep up with the big boys with a little in the tank for the future. Just keep it safe and don't go too crazy 👌
Mullet was intended to run 7.50s and go on drag week when it was originally built so for it to do what it has done is impressive. The car is probably 300lbs heavier than Brett’s mustang

Said this many times - look at the TORQUE curve, and map that against the point it's slipping - playing with boost and timing you should be able to bring the peak torque down a little and fill it in a bit more below and above the peak.
If it's on the shift point, should be able to pull a touch of timing to reduce the torque spike to the tyres as the gearbox shifts and pulls the rpm down.

Ruby and McFlurry aren't the most unique cars ever, but they still had their own bits that set them apart. Ruby's exhaust and sticker bomb rear, and McFlurry's Bruno+Lenco setup. Hey guys, I recommend investigating the aerodynamics on the rear end of mullet. You could probably solve your spinning problems by getting a little bit more aggressive on the downforce. That way you don't have to mess with the weight ballast.
It might sound silly but dude it could be all it needs. Brett has a more aggressive spoiler. You need more length, 20-22inches. More aggressive adjustable wicker.
Mullet is a lot heavier than Brett's car and although I get the point you're making Mullet is at the absolute limit with it's chassis. Aggressive downforce may stop wheel spin but it will also reduce speed. Keep in mind Mullet had the small tires on for this race.
@@Filthy-Felon Yeah but so does Brett(tires). I get mullet is "heavy". But downforce isn't that detrimental to speed. And is required to go fast. That's why top fuel cars have huge wings. Mullet can make more power than the coyote. So it can push through that little bit more air resistance while it's not spinning and passing Brett.

I’m glad they’re going to do an actual car for the drag racing platform. I was literally thinking about that halfway through the video. A lot of what they’ve built has been for content not necessarily for practicality. Which has been great and they broken through so many barriers but I do agree it’s time to build a legit race car on the RIGHT platform.
In the same way we love Leroy, Mullet was a step in another direction. No problem taking another step. Excited to see you lads explore another platform in a different direction!!!

I am huge fan of mullet cause i like unique vehicles that aren't the same and can't deny that lots of those fast cars are running TBM brakes and Rife sensors so in the end you are winning. We look forward to whatever you decide to build next and thanks for always sharing :)
