All campers were complaining that they're useless, while active players were praising their new turretless mediums, being a 1 tier lower than comparable turreted mediums. Well, until the Tier X, which was whole another beast, especially in platoon.
I learned to do this in the Achilles and Challenger. Forward TD play, never advance too more than +4 lines forward, play like a medium support, flank, crossfire, bait and retreat, take opportunities, and relocate...Brawling = death.
It's why I love my T-103. Using a TD aggressively, no matter how limited it is, it'll be an extra medium or heavy on a flank. That advantage cannot be overstated.
Not really new news, but something people needed to hear. Specially when WGs match making sometimes puts over half of the teams with TDs. So annoying when people still just try to camp. Specially in top tier where a lot of TDs have armor too...
It helps that you had a decent team who didn't sit back and watch. Time and time again especially when i have a really good game for ME, my team just yolos or sits back with their heads in the sand waiting to die. So many things have to go perfectly right to get major damage, the kills you need, and win. So many times it seems i will chew up the health of several tanks by myself, with the last kill shot taken by someone else. Many MANY times i will be top 3 or so for damage with zero kills while at the end, someone with 200 or so damage has 2 kills.
I love TD’s. Especially my Hellcat. That tank is great to gun it out ahead of your team to sit on a corner in a bush and spot the enemy early for your team. I tend not to even shoot too often either. So often you can make the enemy stop in a disadvantageous location just because you spotted them. Helps out the SP’s too. I also like to push, when I know I’m safe to, in my TD’s like the AT line of tanks and put pressure on the enemy who forgets where the weak points are on my tank when I’m just trudging strait for them. It’s pretty entertaining.
Technically, the cage armour at the front of the vehicle is supposed to work against all HE and HEAT rounds except for tandem charge warheads. So if WoT would’ve take the realistic approach, the STRV would render most HEAT shells fired at the cage armour ineffective if I’m correct. Albeit if you fire a second round at the same place you shot at before, it would go through hence the cage armour at that spot would be destroyed.
I agree with you in being a little more aggressive with TDs and I have been doing so for the last 1-2 years. It all depends on the TD I am playing, the map and the tanks in the battle. I can see how it makes a difference in the battle but not in all battles as you can get caught out and wrecked quickly too!!
I actually started the same tactics a few months before w my 103-O, and knowing wich tanks can overmach your armor and wich can't, you can do somereally great stuff.
Yeah that play on Erlenberg would not have worked like 9 out of 10 times. I mean, the enemies had only one AMX 30 B going down that flank to defend it, no tank destroyers were in the bushes back there to stop QB from advancing and usually there are also some tanks hiding in the bushes of that little island next to the castle. Great video though, i completely agree that TDs should in most situations not just camp at the back but really be played aggressively like mediums or heavies, even those with paper armor.
The tank I mainly play with is the M18 Hellcat. It's very weak, can't survive as well as the Strv. But using its insane speed and being cautiously agressive has improved my win ratio. I use the speed to not only get to good sniper spots quickly, but also to follow the front line heavy tanks as they push forward offering influential support. I can't say that every TD can be as agressive as the Strv or the Hellcat, but you be generally more influential if you can master you TD on the move
QB did mention that it took hundreds of games to understand how to play this tank aggressively. What QB did here utilized a full range of skills / knowledges of games. Most players cannot replicate his success. The key point though, for a blue player like myself who has plateaued, trying something out of the usual comfort zone to do something new / different is maybe something to do to improve the skill. Being aggressive in a defensive TD is just an example.
I use TDs aggressively as much as I can, have been for the past seven years, Jpanther line was great for this, Obj 268 4 lane was great for this, now I played the T110E3 and albeit a lot slower, also awesome for this. I have premium chinese and swedish TDs tier 8 and play both of them agressively. And yes, Turbo is a gamechanger
its so funny watching WoT TD's camping in the back vs War Thunder's players playing their td's like bats out of hell. In War Thunder, its the Mediums and certain heavies usually lay low in the back. (mostly germans mediums and American Heavies)
Its possible with td with some armor...if you try it with tds with paper armor, like SU 130 PM or Skorp G, that rarely ends well, you get hit by arty early on and you're out...
quick tip for 103b, when blocking enemy shots aim just above their tank/turret. This makes your capola harder to hit and is the best angle to block shots, if the enemy can overmatch your armor then this wont help, nothing will
The strv had a auto loader so it shouldn't be able to use a gun rammer in the first place. But the Is 7 had a 8 round auto loader and we all know how op that would be if it was added in the game
I can't comment on the turbocharger, because I usually use a rammer instead, but Quicky, NOT putting a camo net on an STRV is a crime. The tier 8-10 Swedish TDs have the highest camo ratings of TDs in the game (I believe only the ELC Even 90 is higher), and they are pretty much invisible with a camo net and a crew with the camo skill. Because of the law of diminishing returns, I'll probably put a turbo on the tier 10 when I unlock it. This is simply due to the fact that putting a rammer on a tank with a 4 second reload doesn't make much of a difference. It makes more of a difference on the UDES 03, which actually has the best gun and camo rating out of all three of the top tier TDs, but the longest reload.
this kind of agressive game is good in two cases: either You are a superb player, with impressive instinct, map-reading-skill and so on, or You are decent player but Your team reacts as they should. Recently I'm seeing too many battles where 10 tanks go one side and other 5 just camp in base - including HT's, so it is the risk. At least for me, since I'm not nearly as good as QB. Great battles anyway, trully impressive!
You did not mention how only the centre vertical strip of the upper plate is 40mm, the sides of the upper plate are 50mm so requires 151mm to go through. That is how the Jagd Tiger bounced with a 128. There are even portions that are 60mm on the upper plate. Plus the HEAT shield acts as an additional 10mm armour hitbox. This means that the armour is +10mm everywhere on the upper plate and bumps up each overmatch situation by a level.
to be fair, not every TD is a strv 103B, most tds cant even get to this positions because they are slow. Ofc you can still be agressive on them , but on some maps its so much harder and riskier.
I've just come back to the game after taking quite a long hiatus. I'm running out of credits buying all the new equipment. The turbocharger is amazing.
Have not played the B yet but have had no luck playing like that in any of the others, everything pens me. However, the TC has made them much more playable for me, absolutely hated them before.
@QuickyBaby was wondering if its worth to drop v stabs on the 140 so you would have vents rammer and than maybe optics or commanders vision even. Thanks
For stop camping with TDs you must : - Have Armor - Be top tier to have armor efficiency If you are slow : Go heavies side If you are mobil : think about Meds/Lights side But if you dont have dpm, allways think about your flanks and to avoid being flanked by ennemies
I used to play my kanjpz 90 very aggressively It's sometimes fun but over and over the lackluster DPM of that tank keeps let me down Or otherwise it can pretty fun and rewarding Thanks wot for never buffing it so that I can't have fun and eventually not playing the game
I dont really like the turbo charger, sure the extra speed is cool since it works in siege mode but its really not useful to me. The default speed is enough for peaking over a ridge and falling back, i would rather have an extra equipment slot than just peaking slightly faster and reversing barely faster...
The British AT 2 is a good place to start practicing playing aggressively in a TD (although it is a bit of a shadow of its past glory). The AT8 and AT7 are also good for this; but watch those weak points. The T28, T95 and the Object 268 V4 are also excellent in this role (although arty will punish you).
You can be agressive with this TD cause you got DPM, Mobility, and kind of armor. If you don't have those stuffs to hide the fact that you don't have a turret, you can't play the same way. Without one of the 3 good sizes of this tank, you most be more carefull
Yeah i see people in SU130PMs camping and sniping (which is granted what that tank is meant for) but I normally go into the cities and using my 520 alpha to keep tanks at bay and i have 3 marks on that thing
Yeah yeah, "don't camp", but when I try to push and take good spot, there are always some enemy rush that will wreck me, or just suicidal tank that will rush me. Or there are 3 arties, or there is a tank that will sponge your side if you go out, or EBR going nuts and spotting my glass tank etc. If you want to people to more more and do not camp, then maybe send WG a letter to slow down the game and take away the cars. Maybe even change all small maps to be much bigger, or make them t6 max
It is a fact that the teams that advance with the most guns to bear on the enemy without over exposing themselves wins 90% of the time. The problem lies with those on missions and those who rightly don't trust their teammates to cover them. I don't know how many times I've advanced in numbers only to get left high and dry to fend for myself. "Who dares, wins" but you can't do it on your own.
Taking into account that by removing possibility to use turbo on swedish tanks thay will nerf premium one they might not do it at all or create another four modules monstrosity.
Most of these spots wouldn't work if there were arty involved right? Cause I know for a fact my Strv doesn't take arty shells well, and in the Sand River spot, it looks like arty could rain all over you
I mean.... thats why matches end up 15:3 that often. More and more people learn how to play properly. Not as aggressive as these plays but still. Even orange players know now, when its time to push. And as soon as a flank falls its just the first domino. Crossfire. 15:3 Next level of play is hopefully, that they learn to anticipate when their flank is gonna fall and retreat to a safer position. In time...
I'm playing several of my low tier TDs aggressively like that, never thought about it for the Strv. though! Nice idea as i really like the gameplay for front hogs like the T-30 or T-28.! Thanks!
Tank Destroyers are built to a certain purpose, some are simply not built for offensive roles. In more realistic games this comes more to the forefront where in arcade games like this one it's more obscure. You would need to look into the design specifications to know what it was really meant to do. Nevertheless you can get away with offensive play in World of Tanks with non-offensive TD's due to the expendable hitpoints, if you know what you're doing.
I don’t think u understand if I get spotted in my td the whole team targets me Bc I have 20mm of armor and 1100 hp and I will die within 5 sec of being spotted if I don’t get to cover
@Mile _ why stop there, why not 3 repair kits, and enjoy your life till the first HE? The point is- charging in STRV will only work if 1- your allies will watch your side 2- your enemies comes 1 by 1 directly in front of you, and 3 - no arti pummeling you every time you spotted. Is it possible? Yeah, evidently. Is it viable strategy? No, not really. 8 out of 10 games you will end up tracked, stunned and useless. Highly interesting and entertaining video specifically because it is rare and improbable.
QB, what about td's such as the Jageroo, E3, E4, and their lines, that just lack the speed to reach those positions? It's impossible to play those in the same way.
For the information of everybody, the Strv 103B is considered as a MEDIUM TANK, but Wargaming decided to make it as a Tank Destroyer in World of Tanks for some reason.
> Likes the Swedish TDs because they blur the line between a medium tank and a TD. > Hates the K-91 line because it blurs the line between a medium tank and a TD. Why, QB? :(
Loved this video! I also like all the f2p stuff, keep it up. I think that the Charioteer can be played the same with a turbo. Haven't tried it yet but that tank is basically a medium.
The extra speed is incredibly useful in siege mode. Poking over a ridge in front of big-gun tanks is much safer with the extra 4 forward and 2 back. It saves you HP as the enemy tanks have to rush their shots.

Quickybaby can you do a video on the bulldog? Like the normally one not a premium version. Love the vids!
Which tank do you recommend for bonds? Amx 49 m4 l or Patriot?
its so funny watching WoT TD's camping in the back vs War Thunder's players playing their td's like bats out of hell. In War Thunder, its the Mediums and certain heavies usually lay low in the back. (mostly germans mediums and American Heavies)
I always use my tds aggressively unless it's an su/isu. Generally works well
Higher tier TD go:
bOnk
I always use my 268 like a 268v4 it worked out for me every time and nobody expected me to do that
to be fair, not every TD is a strv 103B, most tds cant even get to this positions because they are slow. Ofc you can still be agressive on them , but on some maps its so much harder and riskier.
The US server has every single person sit at a corner and wait for someone to drive into their gun, regardless of vehicle class.
Love the term free to play way. Guess what, you can put the exact same equipment on the tank in either of your modes, free to play or not.
I'm waching you from Hungary, and I love your videos.
Thanks
For stop camping with TDs you must :
- Have Armor
- Be top tier to have armor efficiency
If you are slow : Go heavies side
If you are mobil : think about Meds/Lights side
But if you dont have dpm, allways think about your flanks and to avoid being flanked by ennemies
I used to play my kanjpz 90 very aggressively
It's sometimes fun but over and over the lackluster DPM of that tank keeps let me down
Or otherwise it can pretty fun and rewarding
Thanks wot for never buffing it so that I can't have fun and eventually not playing the game
If I can't camp the rear, what am I going to do with all of this firewood and serving spoons?
what a shock, quickie thinks TDs should be offensive medium tanks :)
Of course the t110e3 should push. But not a fv4005
@@axelnovati True, also depends on the situation, but yea, FV4005 will be completely obliterated.
Definitely easier said than done.
Need all the console players to watch this 😂
Sooo true😂
No we just bum rush and die in 10 seconds
What are you implying
Haha
Should be a mandatory video intro, maybe the playerbase wouldn't be so goddamn embarrassing.
Scouts decide for a big part win or lose.
Lately i get the teams with scouts that just base camp ...
Can we also address the fact it has like 4.3k dpm when maxed, which is unparalleled by any medium tank
You can be agressive with this TD cause you got DPM, Mobility, and kind of armor. If you don't have those stuffs to hide the fact that you don't have a turret, you can't play the same way. Without one of the 3 good sizes of this tank, you most be more carefull
Coming back to this vid I just realized you can figuratively and literally turn the Strv 103b up to 11
this is how I play my tier IX and since I started playing like this I am really enjoying the games in it
Yeah i see people in SU130PMs camping and sniping (which is granted what that tank is meant for) but I normally go into the cities and using my 520 alpha to keep tanks at bay and i have 3 marks on that thing
Man i love when tank destroyers do that and im in a medium or heavy tank, its like free damage sometimes lmao
professional lmao yeah not to toot my own horn, but you have to be a good player to make it work tbh
Camping’s fine, as long as you’re actually in a position where you’re doing damage, and moving to new positions as the game progresses.
yes, its how I play most of my TD's as well.
Taking into account that by removing possibility to use turbo on swedish tanks thay will nerf premium one they might not do it at all or create another four modules monstrosity.
Quickybaby: Stop camping start winning
Object 263: Are you challenging me ?
Most of these spots wouldn't work if there were arty involved right? Cause I know for a fact my Strv doesn't take arty shells well, and in the Sand River spot, it looks like arty could rain all over you
I mean.... thats why matches end up 15:3 that often. More and more people learn how to play properly.
Not as aggressive as these plays but still. Even orange players know now, when its time to push. And as soon as a flank falls its just the first domino. Crossfire. 15:3
Next level of play is hopefully, that they learn to anticipate when their flank is gonna fall and retreat to a safer position.
So... what do you do when an enemy shoot your tracks first? Sad STRV noises
Bring 2 repair kits?
@@langleysenterprise5134 reasonable solution. Instead of what?
@Mile _ why stop there, why not 3 repair kits, and enjoy your life till the first HE? The point is- charging in STRV will only work if 1- your allies will watch your side 2- your enemies comes 1 by 1 directly in front of you, and 3 - no arti pummeling you every time you spotted. Is it possible? Yeah, evidently. Is it viable strategy? No, not really. 8 out of 10 games you will end up tracked, stunned and useless. Highly interesting and entertaining video specifically because it is rare and improbable.
Quackybaby, you forgot that we get 3 artas per game lol
Even the Cheiftain couldn't handle their shit.
Try the same in a t110e3 and see how you melt QB , sorry but you've done yet another Purley situational TD vid
QB pls make agresive gameplay with Foch B feel like that tank is for you
The SU122-44 can be a good brawler, especially against lower tiers
Turbocharger is defo the best thing for this
I don't get this overmatch mechanics, because I have bounced many times on the strv with my jagdpanzer e100
Why does the exhaust system not add stationary camo when using a camo net?
A powerful gun and frontal armor is sweet in a TD. In my T-28 Prototype am I wrong to play it like a Heavy??
T95 is the obvious pick for the aggressive TD play style.
Qb : "Stop camping, start winning"
Idiots : "Start camping, stop winning"
Mashed potato and bacon? Better slap a turbocharger on it!
QB, what about td's such as the Jageroo, E3, E4, and their lines, that just lack the speed to reach those positions? It's impossible to play those in the same way.
Id play them as heavies
For the information of everybody, the Strv 103B is considered as a MEDIUM TANK, but Wargaming decided to make it as a Tank Destroyer in World of Tanks for some reason.
> Likes the Swedish TDs because they blur the line between a medium tank and a TD.
> Hates the K-91 line because it blurs the line between a medium tank and a TD.
Why, QB? :(
I ended up kicking butt in my stug when i played aggressively and ended up having to cap to avoid arti one shot.
Loved this video! I also like all the f2p stuff, keep it up. I think that the Charioteer can be played the same with a turbo. Haven't tried it yet but that tank is basically a medium.
QB: you gotta take that risk
Me: oh hell no. Rngesus fk me up way too many times. Aint gonna trust that shiet any more
Unless you know what your doing do not push with a td early in the game...you will end up with a dismal win rate 😯
I just cannot see gaining speed to lose other bonus as a plus for that tank.
The extra speed is incredibly useful in siege mode. Poking over a ridge in front of big-gun tanks is much safer with the extra 4 forward and 2 back. It saves you HP as the enemy tanks have to rush their shots.
I feel a bit bad for spending my blueprints on the ikv 90B not the udes03 i feel rly bad bc i just hate the ikv
