If you have seen my previous video about my wooden table saw wing, you already know that I plan on using it as my router table. So the next step in the evolution is to install the router plate into the wooden table saw wing. There isn't a lot to it. I chose to build a frame, using the actual router bit as a template. Then, using the frame as a pattern, I used a flush trim router bit at the correct depth to cut out the recess for the router plate. All I needed for this application is a 3/8" shelf that is 1/4" below the surface of the table. I cut out the waste and cleaned everything up with a chisel. It ended up fitting great and now I am ready to build the router lift that will mount underneath. I hope you enjoy the video!

I used 1/8 th inch hard board with 0,020 FR4 laminated to form an eight inch round plate. ❤❤. Simple circular to route.

how do you add the router to that insert?

You take the baseplate off of your router base and use the screw holes to attach to the underside of the router insert.

Phenolic. Don’t buy it. It isn’t perfectly flat which has caused me issues.
