Dr. Babb, you did not address bio-identical (plant based) hormones? Any thoughts?

That’s a wonderful question. Honestly, I may do an entire week on bio-identical hormones, but the long and short of it is that the term “bio-identical“ is a marketing term, not a medical one. Just because something is plant-based, does not mean it is inherently safer versus something made synthetically, or from animal products, and a large number of FDA-approved medications are actually bio-identical in formulation.
I’ve spoken a little bit about it before in the estrogen video, but I will make a point to do a whole series on it.
      Thanks for asking the question!

@@dr.coreybabb Thank you for your reply! I agree that just because something is plant based doesn't make it safe, depending on what it is. What I am referring to are bio- identical hormones that are made from yams and are compounded individually for each patient. I took them for about 10 years until my insurance stopped paying two years ago. Since then, I feel like I've aged about 20 years!!! I'm 67 and very active and slender. I have a wonderful relationship with my boyfriend and the desire part is all there but the arousal thing has faded which is leaving both of us disappointed. I'm going to try to afford to go back on the bio-identicals again but I want to be sure that I'm not risking my health.
