Don't know much about 3rd. I'll have to spend some time on these scales for sure!
Hi Ronnie! Great video, as always! Third position major pentatonic is a cool, underrated scale that I have spent years trying to avoid, maybe because of the 5OB in the middle register. However, I’ve found out that if I added the blue notes, then I would have many notes that can be played other than the 5OB. In addition, I’ve been spicing it up by substituting the 6th degree of the scale for the 7th degree, turning it into a major 7th pentatonic: 1D, 2B, (2”D), 2’D, 3”D, 4B, 4D, 5B, (5D), 5OB, 6D, 7B, 8D, 8B, (9D), 9’B, 10D - blue notes in parenthesis. A cool scale to play around with!
I’m pretty comfortable with the normal positions. But you are sending me back to 3rd to try major.
You sound amazing in third Ronnie. I love Your solos in Southern Fantasy by the Dig Three. 😊
Thanks so much!
Nice, me Boy!! Sweet an Smooth Yeah Buddy killin
Almost sounds like a Sax improv, I get the inspiration. Listen to every genre for endless ideas.
Yes!!
Thank you for your Brainstorming
I love the way you play the blues Ronnie and I have been watching my comments advice on tilting the harp so you don't spit in it you hold that like a great musician and use suckshun and the tongue and pucker and blocking so great
WC Class sounds 🤔 interesting
Just learning 3ed..
Thank you for sharing the Blending idea!
BTW I believe I noticed a Hollyland Lark M2 mic on your shirt and not anymore the DJI? Would you mind to spend a minute sharing your experience with it from a price vs quality perspective?
sure. I'd be happy to do that. For recording videos they're both great but for live streaming via phone, I've experienced some popping and crackling from both mics. The Hollyland Lark is clear and crips and the DJI has a darker more bass heavy response and many more options to control mic, record hard drive recording into mic etc. DJI is also much more expensive. For general recording, the Hollyland Lark is the winner due to how lightweight and easy it is to use it.
I've been mixed up a very long time! Oh you mean position 😅
Thanks for your question I noticed that you covered the question later on in the clip so you played Am and you used a G harp then a d harp and I believe we can use a low tuned harp so I hope you may be able to do that to I have been with the subscription for a long time but I got robbed of all my money trying to help a scammer plus I am living with alot of pain busted back nerve pain and lost alot of teeth and this is my education thumbs up from me all the time thankyou Ronnie
what do you think of LIttle Walter, Big Walter, Sonny Boy Williamson, James Cotton, and Sonny Terry are they the same, met Cotton, very humble guy...?
all have their own unique voice
WC Class sounds interesting
Cool Ronnie
My biggest problem is commitment!
@@bobwellman7851 short practice sessions on a consistent basis might help.
@@Harmonica123 Thank you sir!
✋
But wouldnt 12th position be a better choice for a major tune. You get the same patterns as in 3rd? At least when its real major where flatted thirds and seventh really dont work?
@@stefanmittermeier557 both work well and can be heard in recordings etc. context is everything so for certain things 12th might work better.
Yeah George harmonica Smith.. check them out in gunsmoke blues with muddy Big Mama Joe the singer
Filmed by the gunsmoke crew back in 1971 .😊 They had the day off so they said let's go check it out and they bought all the equipment with them thank you gunsmoke
Yes thank you for information I joined the stream late but now I'm caught up, I need to get a G-HARP THOUGH.. I never knew about third position but thanks to you Ronnie I know now.. can't wait to try it out.. I do have a bunch of harps.. a Green hornet Mike.. and a guitar drums and f****** everything else right on brother thank you oh yeah just picked up the piano p-45 Yamaha..... I love the blues Man, it's all I play.. it's blues run over everything
I think this is the missing link third position for me it's going to make me make that jump in leaps and bounds
Put George harmonica Smith plays a solo in that gig that is unbelievable man.. almost unhuman
I've watched it like a thousand times
So what would you play if it was a d harp and then the g harp
@@howardcoleman4748 what's the key of the song?
Are you still in minor at the high end
@@rodneyange1046 I was feeding off of minor pentatonic.
@@Harmonica123 would I play Bring it on Home to me in 3rd position ?
