- A non-fishing film this week as the inclement weather of the last few weeks has stopped Graeme from doing any fishing…But rather than put nothing up, he found some footage in his library of wonders showing a giant willow tree that had died and turned into a danger to the family with large branches falling off. So it was time to call in the services of Ryan the tree surgeon to rope up and reduce the danger down to a monolith structure….If you have never seen how slick a professional tree surgeon can work then check this film out. And Graeme has a year’s worth of wood for his log burner as well..!

Sorry that you've had to get rid of such a magnificent tree, but safety is a must. The silver lining of course is the wood for the fire.
It was effectively stone dead as you can see from all the bushed out green trees in the background. It was a main feature but once big branches start cracking off it needs sorting.
Good morning Graeme love you fishing and like the miss mach videos and the tree surgeon knows his work.
Thoroughly enjoyed this Graeme. Very interesting. Not been fishing, for various reasons, for almost two years and hoping that health and the weather pick up this year. Best wishes.
Great vidoe Graeme. Ryan sure knows his stuff. A friend of the family had his own tree surgeons business for many years. He was gone 70 when he sold up & retired a few years ago, but he had some youngsters doing the climbing by then. I think I've said it before, but you could really do with a ride-on mower or garden tractor & trailer - would have been great for collecting all of the wood up! Stay safe & well. 👍👍
Proper graft that is. Always got respect for these guys
Something completely different but very interesting nice one Graham, tight lines 🐟🐟
Nice one GP , well stocked log shed , all good 👍🏼
That's a hard game...Worn out before 45.....Love watching them working.
Really enjoyed watching did great job on that tree loads of wood for the burner
He was fishing the branches out of the tree .looked mighty interesting to me❤
Graham Pullen is the ultimate and absolute legend ❤
Thanks for the Video Graeme, tight lines!
No problem,I have plenty of Random ones for when either the fishing is bad,or weather stops me getting out.
Nice supply of wood for your log burner, I've just had to order some more logs and can't believe how much it has gone up.
Its years since I ever bought logs and I think the last "load" I had was £70 but that was some years ago. Someone told me its over £100 now and it all depends what they think a "load" is.....so thank goodness I have now secured my own timber stock and of course Mike owning his own woodland with fallen dead Ash trees (the best wood) does help as well. We've had the logburner on every night this winter.
Well that was different Graeme, I really enjoyed that from start to finish. What a very knowledgeable guy Ryan is .
Just something different. I'm not fishing at the moment due to the weather and joblist so thought it would just be something to put up.
Good watch Graham interesting stuff. Tight lines 🏴 🏴
Just something different while I'm not going fishing.
problem with not clearing the brush before you drop the big wood on top u end up with a g mess
Which I clear up. Big branches go to logs, small bits go to bonfire.Job done.
Hi graham you ok pal, i enjoyed that. He deffo done that before hasn't he lol. Plenty of wood for the old fire. All the best from GRIMSBY
Thanks, yes I believe he has done it for about 17 years .
Hi Graeme,
Great video and inspired me to buy a Mac Allister Chainsaw and a Erbauer Reciprocating Saw today with a Litre of Lube Oil all for £ 165 from B and Q. Great prices. Took me a bit of time to figure out how to fit the chain but got it at last. My Fencing collapsed and ripped apart during the storm a week past Friday so big cutting down and clear up job ahead. I refused to drive the Truck that day and i'm glad i did given the conditions. We got hit from lunchtime on the Friday into the night and it was horrendous. I thought the Roof would come off. So much damage to Trees and Property in Fife and the surrounding areas and it was evident that people heeded the warning to stay at home.
Best As Always.
Steve in Fife.
You certainly had it bad up there for sure ,but be careful with the chainsaw especially with a new blade.
Now that takes some balls to do that job, and it looks extremely professional as well 👏 keep the videos coming Graham 👍
Both myself and Mike have used Ryan on different jobs and he always does a good job. Very interesting with information as well.
Honestly so satisfying to watch. That tree must have been there for so long.
Graham, it is so nice to see a professional tree surgeon working the high wood so well, Ryan should be very proud of himself, he also should be aware doing the job he does it has a short work life, bit's and bobs start to say nah I am just not going to do this anymore, like the ankles, Knees, and the back, just before you get to that stage he should be looking for an educating job at an Agricultural college or hiring young fit workers and teaching them the work to do everything they can to stay safe, unfortunately it is not a rich job and people just want all that professional experience with out paying the proper money so they get a cowboy in working cheep and wonder why they lose the house and, or have a dirty great mess in their lovely garden, so Ryan don't work hard work smart and I hope you have a great life and stay healthy and safe. Jim from Scotland
Thanks for taking the time to comment,I'm sure Ryan will appreciate it.
from alaska,,,,yeeeeeezeeeeeee!
I guess you guys know all about tree felling....and much bigger ones as well. Say safe Alaska...
Ryan must have balls of steel, to balance up there
Ryan makes that look so easy, I’ve never even used a chainsaw.
How long did it take him to do that tree?
Probably an hour or so. Its all systematic once he gets going. And he throws it down in a special way so its not too much of a tangle on the ground.
@@TAFishing An hour? Wow, that’s good going.
Wish I had chose that for a living😊😊
As strange as it would seem to some I really do think that all these trees and their aliments/ properties are very interesting. Another great video
I like to film different topics...I find information from knowledgeable people very interesting. A lot of what I film does not seem to be done .Its important to document things, especially as the written word(books etc) seem to interest people less.
A society grows great when old men plant trees whose shade they know they will never sit in. 👍
I do indeed have one...A Horse chestnut that I grew from a Conker...doing well in its 5th year...but you are indeed correct...It won't be me sitting in its shade..Hopefully the Grandchildren might though .I have a few I've planted but one is doing really well at about 4 feet.Hope it lasts.
Great video again .always something going on .poor tree but if it's dangerous it must go . Doing the tree I'd you must always have 2 ropes to create safety ..one goes your in the poop .one of the 2 go your safe .It's a dangerous game 😮 tree removal
You can see the tree is stone dead by looking at the others in full leaf in the background. I did give it an extra year in case in came back but it never did .And once it presents a danger its time to call in Ryan...
Graham, do you have an estimate of how old this tree was?
I don't think they live that old. I believe the previous owner planted it as it was central to the garden. A rough guess I would think 50 years ?...Google it up,but I don't know the latin name I'm afraid. The bigger Ash trees in Mike's woodland have tags on them and are over 100 years old....I looked at one in a National Trust property only a couple of weeks ago. An oak said to be 350 years old. As I am now planting some of my own I'm fairly shocked at how slow they take to grow in the first few years.
Hi graham u should try out two counties farm in mere,, nice little lake nice and peaceful
Will check it out when summer comes. I am often up and down the 303. Thanks.
@TAFishing no worries, you'll definitely enjoy it
I don't ever leave the ground with my saw. I will have to try some of those cuts on my downed trees though. (the less risky angles for those who worry)
I think Ryan's main one is the snap cut. Its sort of offset either side and comes off cleanly. I've watched him do it loads of times.
@@TAFishing Exactly that cut. I've never done it myself.
Chin up Graham we will be on the banks soon
I am hoping the rivers get sorted by about mid February which leaves about 4 weeks before our UK river season closes. Of course once the season closes the rivers will be in great condition ...!!
I'm sure we can make up for lost time. Tight lines Graham.
If it's gotta come down why not make the cost keep you warm
I've been away for so long I've missed these videos, ive got a few years worth of videos to catch up on
400ml in a 20 ltr can = 50 to 1 mix
Different for sure. Would you be happy to give a rough idea what that cost, please.
If you p.m. Mike on T.A.Outdoors I will contact Ryan .
@@TAFishing thanks Graham, when I find out how to PM I will, lol.
