I'm a Mexican who was in the punk rock scene in the 90s. The straight edge kids were skin headed. They hated racists, drugs, and anything else they considered bad for your health.

I grew up in England as a greaser and we battled with the skinheads every week. Mooch is dead on about there being 2 factions of skins, those who were Neo Nazis and those who were in it for the music and fashion. I could listen to this guy talk all day long. He is obviously well educated and I will go out tomorrow and buy his book. Thanks Demons Row, always great interviews.

@DemonsRow Sharps are more common in Northern Cailfornia. Racist skins are mostly from southern Cailfornia.
But later skins like Peni and other groups became affiliated with the AB. The racist ideology went on the back burner and racism was more about recruitment. They became more criminal and about making money.
Lots of regular white dudes went to prison and became skinhead. They knew nothing about punk rock music or culture. It was about gang life.
That's why some groups like Society of Aryan Skinheads and others went to war with the brand/Peni because they were about money not white supremacy.

There was a group of skinheads in the SF Bay Area that were called the S.H.A.R.P. Skins that fought against racism. They had Black skinheads and Mexican Skins as well as Jewish Skins. It was pretty big back in the 80's. It was an abbreviation for Skin Heads Against Racial Prejudice. We had skin heads like this around where I grew up. They called themselves SHARP's which stood for Skin Heads Against Racial Prejudice. There were a lot of different skin head factions around too, and it was during the time that punk had a resurgence in the mid 90's. Going to local shows and parties was always sketchy. Very enticing world of brotherhood, but after one digs deeper, that world is often filled with false impressions with law enforcement at every corner preying on weak links. Mooch is more like a hospitalor or warrior monk. He understands the way of the warrior is death. Not someone else’s but his. Whereas most MC members are like knights Templar, muscle and purpose.

@demonsrow Not trying to out members but he's pretty public about his membership. You should get Robert Patrick in, he rides with Boozefighters. That could be a cool interview.

Can't wait for part two of this one. It's cool hearing people's stories in their own words. Your interview style works perfectly Sose because you know the life. Great channel.

Hey this ain't really related to the subject of this particular video but I do have a question if you're an MC member can you still be a fan of the show Sons of Anarchy I'm just curious because I know how a lot of actual MC members dislike that show because it's not really how it is.DO MC's find it disrespectful that someone is a fan of the show and he's a brother

I would watch any show that has motorcycles in it. I just think that show had a negative impact on our culture and that’s why people dislike it. But for a fictional drama involving motorcycles I watched it

My sister and friends were hanging out arounds for sharp skins in south San Diego believe it or not in the 1980s you would see black Asian Mexican skinheads in San Diego and throughout Southern California and they were not busters they got down with the other racist guys tough.
