i have a feeling that walker and dior are definitely going to be the "tom holland's" of the pjo cast 😂 i mean dior leaked that andrew alvarez is going to be playing chris rodriguez and in this video walker is talking about "classified" filming scenes!

These are the main trio we deserve! Such fantastic actors, and their love and devotion to their roles is just amazing! I already cannot wait to see this on screen!
Gotta say, I wasn't expecting the race change on the main trio (guess their book look is pretty iconic), but realising it doesn't change anything on the story, I'm on board. Hope these kids do their best.

Might I point out to those disappointed in the casting, that the How to train your dragon movie characters were really different in personality and appearances from the books and look at how beloved they are.

And it turned out great. I can't wait to see the new Percy Jackson adaption
In my mind we have book-abeth and show-abeth both Annabeth. One is canonical and the other a sweet actress portraying the character of her dreams giving us the heart of who Annabeth is.
Plus, look at the how to train your dragon movies. The only thing they have in common with the books they’re based on are the names.

The book has a diverse set of characters, why switch it up?
actually there's only like 6 poc characters in the first 5 pjo books and they either die, betray everyone, or only make one page appearances and are forgotten forever....that's kinda terrible representation and diversity just saying. i mean realistically the chances of us getting a HoO, ToA, or MC adaptations are completely unknown so there's a good chance we might never actually get to see all the diversity rick has in his OTHER books. also technically only annabeth's race was changed.
No, the second set of books had diverse characters. There's literally no poc in the first book besides Medusa. Even Annabeth's cabin is described as only white blonde gray eyed kids. Rick himself admits he didn't put much thought towards diversity in his early books.
@@wahlflower3517 in the first series medusa is middle eastern, charles beckendorf is black, charon (the guard to the underworld) is black, annabeth's stepmom is asian, annabeth's younger step brothers bobby and matthew chase asre half asian, ethan nakamura is japanese, kelli the empousa is black, nico and bianca are italian (not sure if that counts as poc rep tho). it's not good representation because like i said all of these characters either die, are evil, betray everyone, or make such short appearances they're not even remembered. it's not until HoO, ToA, TKC and MC that the diversity and representation really starts happening but so far we're only getting TKC movie on netflix.

Also Annabeth's race isn't the only one that changed. Gover, Chiron, and Clarisse are all white in the books and are being played poc actors.
@@wahlflower3517 i was just reminding you that there's technically more poc characters in the first series that we'll most likely get to see later. it's still bad rep tho. i also don't remember grover, chiron or clarisse's races being stated in the books so i guess i'll have to go back and look for that...

@@apollo5045 sir, for starters please don't call me racist, and anyway grover was never given a super specific description, not to mention they made Grover black in the movies anyway so I knew he wasn't gonna be white, not to mention, part of the reason it's stupid to make Annabeth black is because when you make a originally white characters black it's for representation, and Percy jackson already has plenty of that, I'm not against there being a black character I'm saying it's dumb that they're making a traditionally white character black

yeah that's probably why aryan said that grover is so different than he originally thought he was to be. the movies terribly portray the character whereas in the books you can get a really good feel for how the characters are. but i'm sure rick is telling them even more about the character while they're filming and even letting them shape their character a little bit so that they really bring them to life.

Percy and Annabeth’s actors could be great actors but they don’t look like Percy and Annabeth
Kinda disappointed considering this series was my childhood
It’s really not. What matters is that they can play the characters’ personalities and fit the plot. You’re never gonna get actors that look exactly like how they were described in the books. These kids are perfect for their roles.

@@Lucretia916 Casting is about the acting talent and how well suited they are to play the personalities of the characters, physical attributes matter generally very little. Rick Riordan is the author of these books, he CHOSE and APPROVED these kids because they fit the characters HE wrote. I’m sure he knows more about what to look for in the casting.
@@Lucretia916 lets be real, even if they'd casted a blonde white girl for the role of annabeth y'all still would've complained! also finding a 12 year old actor who has natural black hair and green eyes is next to impossible! only 2% of the ENTIRE WORLD population has green...2%! the characters physical appearances in this series really aren't that important (you can fight me on this but i'm not changing my mind). what is important tho is that they can act and embody the character and have chemistry with one another at such a young age! and these kids remind me SO MUCH of percy and annabeth it's crazy!
God the casting for this show is absolutely appalling. The kid playing Percy could get away with playing Grover, Alexandria Dadoria for so much shit when she played annabeth for not having blonde hair, well now Annabeth literally couldn’t be further off. Grover is appalling too, I find it so annoying how if Annabeth was a black character in the books and they switched her casting into a white actor, the show would get cancelled. The show has already been ruined just from this casting alone, I don’t understand why it’s so hard for these incompetent clowns to stick to the books, that’s all they have to do heck even I could direct this I’ve read the books so many times.
You do realize the writer/creator of the books, Rick Riordan, was one of the main people behind casting these three. It’s his story, his vision.
they have literally done every other thing perfectly book accurate for the show, unlike the movies. get over that racist shit. annabeth not being blonde was not why the movies got hate. that was because they changed everything about the books. but here you're getting everything from book on to the screen EVEN the age for the cast. thats as good as it gets. so what if the cast doesnt look exactly like the books they were clearly cast for other reasons. honestly grow tf up.
imagine thinking the casting is awful just because of their race. there’s so much more to a character than that, and you would know how well they match with the characters if you actually cared about it

1st Rick himself choose the kids and stated multiple times they are the perfect trio 2nd get over your fucking racist bs and other unnecessary comments, I'd prefer their 'appearances' being jot 100% book Canon than having actors that don't embody the characters, and 3rd if you have such a big issue just shut up and don't bully kids in your free time, you're a big loser behind the screen, bullying children, then stick to the book and don't watch the show, Rick and like the big majority disagrees with you so kindly shut tf up
