      Thank you for the comment! I've made some videos about Ly Son already and I've been to Nam Du as well (but before I started this channel, so I'd like to go back). There are some other amazing islands as well! Vietnam is full of beautiful places!

    He Boris, just keep your face a bit more in the background. We viewers would have bigger chance then to see more of the places you show. Thanks.

    I wouldn't call this place the "Maldives" of anything. People outside the Americas use "the Maldives of" WAY too much. The Maldives are very, very, very, F.L.A.T. and the water is Caribbean blue.
    The rock formations make this place a trash riddled version of #Seychelles or British Virgin Islands with more green-ish water.

      I agree, I've been to the Maldives, there's no comparison with other places, it's totally different. I think people just use this phrase in general for places with white sand and nice looking water. :)

      @@HighOnLowTide yes, in Europe moreso. In the Americas, the reference is the Caribbean islands. As stated, this place is more like a "Poor man's Seychelles" or a "Poor man's version of The Baths, #BVI"

      I agree, I think I also mentioned it in the video that this is an exaggeration (probably used by local tour agencies for marketing) and it resembles with the Seychelles more (because of the huge rocks); of course, Vietnam has a different vibe altogether. It still nice, though. :)

    I urge anyone who loves the natural beauty of Vietnam and wants it to remain that way not to visit Vietnam because the more tourists visiting Vietnam, the greedier the communists in charge of the country will become resulting in the destruction of natural beauty to build ugly looking buildings, hotels and enviromentally damaging developments. Stay away from Vietnam if you love and want to preserve the natural beauty of Vietnam.
    When Vietnam gets a democratically elected government with more enviromentally responsible developments, then come and visit Vietnam.

    • @HighOnLowTide
      @HighOnLowTide  Год назад

      I agree with you about the importance of preserving the natural beauty, however, at the moment (and since covid), domestic tourism is way bigger than the number of international visitors; so development doesn`t necessarily depend on foreign tourists.

      @@HighOnLowTide
      The number of domestic tourists may be bigger than the number of foreign tourists. But the hotels, the resorts were built by the horrifically corrupt communist governments to target foreign tourists because only foreign tourists have the money to afford to stay in those expensive hotels and resorts. Do not confuse those Asian tourists you saw staying in those hotels and resorts as local Vietnamese tourists because they could be Japanese, South Koreans, well-off Chinese, or overseas Vietnamese.
      If there are no foreign tourists coming, the communists will cancel all the planned developments right away. Are you aware that Vietnam right now is having a real estate crisis due to Covid lock-downs over the last 3 years preventing foreign tourists coming to Vietnam? Ask any local Vietnamese and they will tell you that many hotel owners and companies are trying to sell their hotels without success because with no income from foreign tourists and with interest payments on their commercial mortgages to the banks, these hotel owners have run out of money to keep paying interest to the banks on the commercial loans they took out to build these hotels and resorts.

      @@karllarsen8797 I am aware of the situation, I visited some cities, like Nha Trang between covid lockdowns, so I saw this by myself. Tourism was/is a big industry in Vietnam, but the majority of the development focuses on the most famous spots. Overdevelopment is indeed bad, but it`s difficult to stop when some places are world famous. Hopefully, it will slow down, probably it did slow down already, I don`t think many people want to build new hotels in this new situation (not many tourists have returned yet). But still, in my opinion, places that are not tourist hotspots are `safe`, most people only want to visit popular locations.
