- In this video, I show you how to install a SimpliSafe Smart Lock. A very easy process that takes a few short mins. I explain the hiccup I had and how to fix it. Hope this helps someone.

You have to work with a level!
he left it off kilter because he is having difficulty pulling out the side tab because of the window trim to enable him to remove the lock to straighten the lock.

We ended up exchanging this model for the slimmer version ruclips.net/user/postUgkx0jZ_lGlDVJhDnmagEU8gn47cmfPNlLQU because it was too wide for the only door trim area that made sense to mount it on. However, we should have just noted the dimensions prior to purchasing. Otherwise, we love the doorbell. It works perfectly, and the video is very clear, even at night.
Thx. A suggestion (my neurosis)- use a level to make the lock plumb- makes a much nicer finished look.

It does not look straight and I wanna fix it so bad
I missed half the video since I was so focused on the crooked lock...
use screws to mount the keypad outdoors - don't rely on the sticky tabs. thank me later...
and make sure the lock opens and closes smoothly before you begin. you may have to do some carpentry to move the strike plate and hole in order for the lock to operate smoothly and properly.
How’d you get the back piece off the keypad that goes outside the door?!
I think there's a little pinhole on the underside and they give you a "key" to poke in the hole to release the keypad...

Very nice video! Though you don't need to pay a monthly payment to have a system, you can have the Basic App Control plan which is $0 a month and you may also have all the App control features as well. Thanks for the video.

I don't pay that silly fee.. Im a police officer in the city where I live.. I set my alarm to home when I'm gone, so if it goes off it notifies me instantly.. I can respond 30 second to 2 min tops. I am my own free monitoring.
Thanks for the vid. I was about to buy the lock bc I love SimplieSafe. But I see a problem with this lock which you cant really tell from online. The keypad is separate and use those cheap sticky tape. I had to use those thick picture ones for our keypads. We do own our home but we had it repainted and all nail holes filled in last year. And we don't want to do nails. Back to looking for new door pad.

I was able to get mine at best buy. Remember this is for single pole deadbolts. I love mine works great

Yes it will fit over your existing deadbolt.

A couple of issues, we had a simple safe system that is five years old and did not work with this. We found out after trying to connect. With install Simple Safe sends a single strip of blue tape to hold the outside key entry in place. The single tape strip was not strong enough and the piece fell off so better to hold onto it or tape it on with more non marking tape.
I know Juan is using this as a stand alone device. If you need to open the wings that snap close the install plate you can use the little metal flat tool to lever them open. I hope this helps.

I Dunno if the version sold in 2020 has the option to use screws to install the keypad, but the one they sell in 2023 does. There’s a metal pin that fits into a hole in the casing, popping it off so you can use screws instead of the sticky tape.
Can this lock be installed upside down as I have two pre-drilled holes one for a deadlock that is in the way and had to remove now there's a giant hole. Can I just install this lock upside down so it goes downwards?

Maybe simply safe can send you a white door lock that should blend in a bit better with your door. This is a very good video and makes the lock look very nice thank you

After install how do you control the lock without any other component of simplesafe!? I d/l their app it only asks to to setup the doorbell or camera, not the lock?!
If you only purchased the lock, then the app is not needed. I bought the lock only also. The app only works if you are paying the monthly simplisafe subscription.
Did not work with our 5 year old Simple Safe system.

Based on the begining of the video the top part is a battery bay that pops out while the whole mechanism is in place.
Can you still use your key to unlock it? I live at an apartment and the maintenance still would need access with their key should they need to come.
Yes you can still use your existing key to unlock it.
yes. The keypad gets mounted outside but not over the keyway like on a Kwikset. That whole exterior piece remains unchanged. Only the indoor piece gets replaced.
I find this disappointing since no information reviews that the exterior key lock is not covered and remains in place. My goal was to replace that key and not have it showing.

Needed to spend more time including how to install batteries
I've had simplisafe for over five years. I've had both the first gen and the second gen. Most of their stuff works ok. Their lock however is horrendous. Also their customer service is horrible. It will take you anywhere from 45 to 60 minutes to reach a person who will tell you to reinstall it basically. Then it will crap out again. The worse part is that the keypad on the outside won't activate the lock when this happens since they're both wireless and communicate through the main keypad inside. So you will get stuck outside unless you have the physical key. My house is all keypad access so I've had to enter from the back when this happens. In any case, save your money and buy a nicer non wireless keypad lock. They work a lot better.
