The glass repair was amazing to me considering the heat it would bee exposed to. The knowledgable, methodical, patient methods you use once again produce a serious work in the restorer's art. It is becoming apparent that Avril is gaining a considerable amount of knowledge. Keep an eye.

Чудесная работа! Редко увидишь таких увлеченных восстановлением,не придумывающих на основе новых технологий,а именно точным воссозданием исторических предметов.Спасибо за Ваш кропотливый труд и успехов!
It's what in furniture restoration is called an 'honest' restoration, that is, any repairs are visible (the glass) and that the patina of years of use is not lost. Great job. As ever, Avril - the cat inspector is on hand to ensure its done properly!
Yes...so great you left the beautiful old metals speak for themselves! The copper is amazing would have never thought it was hidden under all that dirt and dust.
Amazing job. I have some of my grandfather's old railroad lanterns, some are in really rough shape. I'm 66, so these are pretty old. But seeing your restoration gives me hope for a couple of them. Thanks for sharing this and the others I'm about to watch.
Does anyone else have their ASMR triggered from watching these, or is it just me ? 🤔 The clicking, moving the tools and pieces around, water/cleaning solutions pouring....all of it is soooooo f'in great to hear !!! I can't be the only one who watches not only to see items get cleaned and brought back to life but just to hear the sounds of working. I also experienced this years ago watching Mr. Roger's Neighborhood when he'd use scissors to cut construction paper to make crafts (although I didn't know what the term was back then of course). Watching these are extremely relaxing. And the fact that he doesn't talk at all or have any annoying ass background music is a plus. This guy gets it !! 😎💪💪👍
I like how you cleaned this up and still left it with a vintage look. As much as I like seeing restoration items restored to look like new at the same time they might be mistaken for reproductions and not the original. It's nice to see them restored though.
RUSTY OIL LAMP RESTORATION You really did a great job on this oil lamp. I did not think you would be able to get it to look like new again. But you did it and you should be very proud of the job you did on it. MissKat in California
Hooray! That's much much better. It hasn't lost it's history under a coat of modern paint. This is the way stuff should be restored, rather than trying to make everything look brand new. Thank goodness someone, at last, is doing the right thing.
Hi there. As a person who likes wstching posts as such I can say that I rather like this version of restoration than the other. Polishing, painting, etc. Are quite makeup things to me. With those we lose the smell of its age and authenticity. Cheers.
Nice! I have several lanterns of this name brand, they are in various colors. I like that you left it as it is. And that glass is very cool, glad you saved it since the replacements don't have the molded logo.
Glass repair, very interesting. Saw my step father do something like it near to 50 years ago. I don't know what it was but, I like that you have the skills and knowledge of a master glacier. Love your channel!
Lantern came out very nice. The copper fount looks great. This lantern looks very similar too a Dietz Little Wizard. I love the cat. My cats always watch me work on lanterns and other things as well.
Nice to see it kept original. Good idea with the o-ring on the fuel cap. And glad you were able to piece together the globe. I love those old kerosene lanterns. I have my Grandpa’s old lantern from early 1900s. It looks a lot like that one.
I loved this restoration and I'm glad you didn't paint it and just cleaned it up and repaired it and got it working. It was nice to see Avril doing her supervision job
Bravo. 👏👏👏 Travail excellent. Vous pouvez utiliser encore 100 ans. Je me souviens de ces lampes de ma petite enfance. Nous ne les avons certainement pas utilisés, mais ils étaient suspendus dans les greniers des maisons et des sous-sols.
I camped with such a lantern for years. It was a modern Chinese copy, painted red. By day, hummingbirds sometimes assumed it was a feeder, but were frustrated. Anyway, very nice job on the glass salvage and sheet metal straightening. Avril reminds me of my long-gone Fritz, who would watch me woodworking for hours, and without whose supervision I would never have prospered. Nice channel!
With so much love to do the restoration I love your patience. This oil lamp tank is of copper and has a number on it, to me that is an collector ‘s item. Just bought a few Feuerhand lanterns exactly the one you restored and all the parts are available over here in Europe even a new glass. They are the best from my experience nothing ever has been capable of beating them.
We will never see craftsmanship and functionality like it again. If that lamp was made 10 years ago there would be nothing left of it. Things were build to last back then
Oh, geeze, when I saw the red, I thought you cut yourself! Lol! She's lovely, and so is your supervisor! If you had a PO Box, we could send her treats! ;)

What type of glue did u use to put the glass globe back together? Outstanding video. Thanks.
An excellent job, and the fact that you repaired the glass, made the restoration that bit better.
I respect the fact that you managed to save the glass a lot!
I'm not sure it would have even been possible to find a replacement.
@@mikem2849 In Germany of course. He did such a great Job - but the Glass is still broken. My Respect for the Job - but the Glass is still broken...

With the broken glass I don't think it will be functional. The heat will melt the super glue. But, outstanding job.

My first thought was "I'm sure this cat is going to be integral to the cleaning process." She was. :p
She supervises heads? That's funny. Supervisors, by nature, are heads. So Head Supervisor is a funny remark.😂😂😂

a perfect and beautiful restoration! I love it without the paint and also I love the fact that you saved the glass.
The original’s have NO paint
My favorite so far. You repaired what existed, and kept it almost completely original. I'd buy it in a heartbeat.
I love old oil lanterns. You did a fabulous job in saving this one. Excellent !!
I like this careful restoration, keeping the old visible.

Beautiful restoration work, my friend. It doesn't even look like the glass piece has been repaired. Congratulations! Greetings from Brazil.🇧🇷
Great job! I love this finish, cleaned up but still shows it’s age!
Well stated. But I would have left off the rust inhibitor. That would have developed a beautiful patina in a few months. Particularly the copper.
