Your videos have actually changed the way I use stock ableton plugins, and after years of production I am now underway of actually doing something I find enjoyable
this man is madness, we made a techno track with a collision which is never thought of using it, anyway thank you for your tutorial it always improving my Music Production skills !
The Second is pretty much working stand alone very Strong combine with some Mixing knobs plugged to some effects and build up a sick Analogue mix live event.
Can you do a tuturial on what are the maths you do to come up with the parameters on each effect? Must be something related to the bpm to get those effects so tight... That one would definitely be a good addition to your already amazing catalogue of tuturials.
Always superb stuff, doesn´t matter if its music or tutorials! Maybe you´re up for it and you´ll show us what you would do with the Hybrid Reverb? Cheers! :)
Yo Yan - you ever hear some of developer’s bass lines? Like ‘stories of gain’? How do you think he gets that bass line sound? Kick drums delayed or short midi kick drums delayed and filtered with reverb etc? Been trying to figure that one out.
Collision is my favourite Ableton synth, hands down. That's still taking into consideration the fact that the amazing Operator synth is also on that list. I wish there was a synth like Collision in hardware form! (and if there is I'd love to know about it...)
If You go down the modular route then there is Intellijel plonk which is pretty much collision in a modular form and is an amazing module. This means diving in to the world of modular though rather than a stand alone synth.
Hi, using Live 10, think this is 11, right? Seems I don't have the LFO MIDI instrument. Is it named differently or is it an additional max4live device I could download from my Ableton account instruments page? Any hints appreciated. Thanks!
Master 👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼Sharing is caring men. Always thankful. How do you place de LFO MiDI in front of the Collision? I never can do that, Ableton always places it after.
There are actually two different versions of LFO, one is only a MIDI effect and will have to be placed first, the second is considered an "audio" effect (even though it doesn't work on audio) and must be placed after. They both pretty much operate the same way!
Hi Yan, I'm a huge fan of your work! However I think you might be overusing the same snare in many of your tracks, maybe change it up a bit just some advice ;)
I don't use snares, maybe you mean the clap, I do probably use it a lot, but I love it, and it's never a big focus in a track, so it's fine)) Thanks for the advice though! 🙃
@@YanCook totally yeah the clap my bad. I also think i’m just thinking too much in terms of individual tracks, in a set i see how it can ´link’ the different tracks in a cool way
Damn, your tutorials are so good, i'd buy a Yan Cookbook for all the spicy secrets you put in your godly sauce.
Facts XD
Oh man, @Yan Cook... You have to make that now. I'd buy the Yan Cookbook in a heartbeat
Word.
yeah, do the Cookbook!
You know there used to be a show called Yan can cook right?
6:16 is mindblowing! Some simple slight-acidy note into a sick bassline with one click

There is now math there 😁
I just prepare for each video and do the sounds twice, if that makes sense.

techno god!
DOPE!!!
Hey, good stuff. Do you mono-ize the low-end afterwards? Phase coherency is a must after all.
I don't worry about that too much, I just try to make sure it sounds good to my taste.
It’s mostly important if you’re planning on pressing a vinyl.
Was listening with my eyes closed at one stage then boom, the amp sim comes on!
What Live version is this? My looks different. Great tutorial btw :)
Live 11 Suite

Hi, yes, I'm using Live 11, it comes with it.
But you can download it too (Max 4 Live Essentials), or just google LFO Midi Ableton 🙂
@@YanCook ah alright it's in the Mac 4 Live Essentials, perfect. Thanks a ton! :-)
very cool :)

So Blades must have been made on Collision.
Will I ever thank you enough for those ?
Blades, actually it was the Digitone 🙃
Master 👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼Sharing is caring men. Always thankful. How do you place de LFO MiDI in front of the Collision? I never can do that, Ableton always places it after.
Midi effect will go before and Audio will go after. I think either can work for this use though.

The sound is rather dry..it could use an audio effect or two...
Or 23.
Seems pretty limited, to be honest.
