Awesome job Joe. You do make it look easy. I think you produce the most detailed and technically advanced 3d printer videos on RUclips. Keep up the great work,, and I will certainly keep spreading the word about this channel. Thx so much :)
hey I love this video and i was able to get it installed but the actual printer doesn't do anything like the UI works but nothing moves any reason did I do something wrong?
Where did you get the davinci 2.0 firmware? Also I heard there were problems with extruders being reversed, right is left and left is right when flashing to repetier. Thanks
github.com/luc-github/Repetier-Firmware-0.92 Also keep in mind that outside of the XYZ-world using two extruders is NOT as easy. Now I have not had an issue with them being reversed, however, CURA (which is my main go to slicer) is not multiple extruder friendly in the same way XYZ was however the other benefits FAR out weigh this as 9 out of 10 times I only use one anyway....
Dose this 1.5.8 work with the Da Vinci ''2.0a duo''? Is it possible that it will brick the 2.0a (newest model) I don't see the 2.0a duo mentioned only the 2.0 duo? Thanks
i have an XYZ Mini w and would like to be able to reflash it with GRBL. Would you care to take on that project for a video? How about reflash with Marllin?
Thanks for the offer however I have sworn these off sorry to say. While did use these for a year or so afterwards, was just to big of a pain verses other printers out there. Also while I have not looked, I have also not run across anything for the Mini and I know as time went on XYZ just kept locking this down even more. So it likely would be a good sized project to tackle...
It worked fine flashing first time. Something went wrong so I tried to refresh. Now i get no ports showing up in decide manager. Just says USB not functioning correctly. Any suggestions?
Thanks for sharing, I have read that, however never tried it as it seems to work for some and not others (again only what I read). So figured jumping was as sure shot...
I purchased a davinci 2.0 with an identical board as the one on this video. my knowledge up to this point has all come from my k40 laser and mods. in fact I remember when you were modding one and posting in the k40 laser group on Google. I'm going to flash firmware but didn't know if repeteir.com is the same as repetier host on github? If you can verify that one way or the other I will get this thing flashed. After that I still have no experience with 3d printing but feel I can do anything after all the mods with the k40 laser. thanks in advance
Got it sorted thank you, as said before been following your work for a min now but mainly due to your with the k40 mods that helped a ton. When I bought the k40 I knew nothing so the learning curve was almost too much but your channel along with the k40 community got me up and running. Another question about the repetier firmware, you did not mess with the repurpose fan to cool extrusion. Is this still the way you run the machine? Are there other settings I should change before flashing over? other than those talked about in your video? I have never used a 3dprinter and hoping I can get the hang of it quicker than I did with the k40. Any tips or suggestions would be awesome or do they have a forum like the k40 community other than voltivo?
DIY3DTECH.com hey I got the sketch to compile and upload successfully matching the same as yours on the last four lines in the console window verifying successful done in 3.668 seconds set boot flash true CPU reset the printer never beeped and still has black bars. should I have uploaded without the power being switched on? should I shut off main power on printer? then power back on?
Yes however you will need to first manually level it then, run auto-leveling as it has to be very close in the first place or auto-leveling will fail...
Does a good (leveling) and no have not seen one with motors to self level. They might be out there, however if this were the case it would be VERY expensive as I am sure commercial units have it. Leveling however is not that hard and I do a paper level about every say 5 to 10 prints or which switching bed temps say from PLA to ABS. To be honest, I rarly use auto level unless I am printing a LARGE abs print...
This is probably a dumb question, but do you still have to edit the eeprom in the cartridge to reset the value and re-fill it with your own filament or does replacing the firmware just bypass the check all together?
I got everything set up and first print was beautiful. Was looking at the eeprom configuration via repetier host under config>eeprom firmware settings which allows to import and export eeprom settings. I've looked everywhere and can't find a image or copied text of correct eeprom settings for the davinci 2.0 jp1. can you please paste your EePROM setting so I can compare? looking for min,max settings, offsets, federated, home position, bed size, jerk and so on. if anyone can help I know you can again just need to compare
DIY3DTECH.com still would like to see your EePROM settings by taking screen shots which will be like five separate screen shots. The printer prints beautifully but if using the full build plate t0 is not centered on build plate and is off by (some amount) to right if facing machine. all info I can find is related to the duo with one fan or 1.0. So hopefully you can find time to help me figure this out as I'm going crazy going back and forth changing settings/offsets. btw use cura and need the help to ensure I can use both exstruders. but again eeprom settings first and printer configuration
i am trying to up lode the firmware but when i uploaded and it reset it will not start and the computer connects and connects and it will not start the printer. Any suggestions i am stuck and i am getting stress.
As mentioned do at your own risk, and the newer the machine the more likely it is to brick as are you familiar with Ardunio and the IDE, can you identify compile errors? As this does not provide a lot of information. Does the LCD screen on the printer have a menu? Did you receive any compile errors? Were there upload errors? Are you using the correct IDE version, what about the version of the (repiter client) are familiar with its operation?
I have been wanting to flash my XYZ printer for a while now and just got around to doing it. I wanted to see if I could get the Arduino program to compile before I reset my printer. I am having problems getting the program to compile with the following error. In file included from HAL.h:44:0, from Repetier.h:572, from BedLeveling.cpp:107: fastio.h:9:17: fatal error: sam.h: No such file or directory #include ^ compilation terminated. Error compiling. Does any one know how to fix this? William
Did you use the EXACT IDE version mentioned in the video? It MUST be that one and no other as the newer IDE have an issue ingesting the file structure. Also is you are good C you could fix it that way too (as its the way it sees the dependency files)...
I know im using the Arduino 1.5.8, but I dont know what IDE version i am using. Where can i get the correct IDE version? Thank you for getting back to me so quickly.
You will need to go into the archive location of the Arduino site and dig around however it should be there I would try t help more but its been a long long time since I reflashed mine...
I was finely able to get everything working. It turns out the repetier version was updated and the upload was very different from when you did it. But in the end it works.
i am having an issue in the fact my laptop won't pick up the board? if checked every location in device manager and no luck. i have already installed the drivers for duo in audrino. no idea what to do i now don't have a printer
Try re-flashing also as warned in the video, bricking is possible especially on newer ones, older ones should be 90% okay. Also have you tried connecting with Reptier host as that is how will need to connect and also ensure you have the correct baud rate too...
i have got to a stage where It's recognised as an unknown device and when i try and install the drivers via the files from ardwino it says it can't complete even though the correct files are there
Hi! Please, could you help me with this error that occurs when i clicked "Compile"? In file included from HAL.h:44:0, from Repetier.h:572, from BedLeveling.cpp:107: fastio.h:9:17: fatal error: sam.h: No such file or directory
My guess is your using the wrong version IDE, it must be the version listed in the video an no other version. You can likely find it in the archive section of the Arduino IDE download area...
It is hard to say as I made this years ago and many things have changed. My guess is the LCD in your printer is different then what was in them at this time and the library for the LCD needs to be changed. However to what I would have no clue...
Okay, I'm working on a Da Vinci 2.0 duo, and it has been absolute hell for me and I am about to explode. I've been working on it for about 4 days now. My friend worked on it for a couple of weeks. I have tried a whole crap ton of different IDE's, Versions of Arduino, the whole nine yards, and I FINALLY got it to work yesterday......for about 20 minutes..... I tried to print one of the preloaded files and the left head jammed, so I stopped the print...except....it didnt stop, It kept "printing" 2 minutes after I pressed stop. So I did the only thing I could think of. I pressed the power button, it shut off just fine. The problem was when I turned it back on it had the black bars like the firmware had been reset, but the light was on. I flashed it (seemed to flash fine) and the light went off, but when I loaded the SAME EXACT FIRMWARE, the only thing that happened was the light turned back on(but it still had the black bars). I flashed it 2 more times and the same thing every time. At this point I am ready to try just about anything to get this to work. Do you or anybody else have any suggestions or solutions? I'd GREATLY appreciate it.
I assume you used the Ardunio IDE (this is the ONE AND ONLY version number which works) listed in the video and you got a successful compile before uploading? Also assume your using Repitier host to to control it? Is it a new or older printer (the newer ones tend to brick more)? Try an older computer to flash it and or control it as there could be an issue with the FIDI drivers (very long story).
Yeah, I used 1.5.8 and it successfully compiled. Yes, I used host. And Its at least a year old. My computer is from 2009 running win 7. Everytime i upload it it says: Verify successful done in 3.583 seconds Set boot flash true CPU reset. But it doesn't budge. The only thing that happens is it continually connects and disconnects . I have no idea what to do anymore and ill try anything. I don't have anything else to lose.
So are saying the compile is done in 3.583 seconds or the upload? As for either that is way to fast indicating something is wrong unless you have a massive computer. As on my Win7 Quad core its quite a bit longer, about 10 to 15 sec to compile and a minute to upload. I would still try a different computer as that time doesn't seem right at all. In addition, where are you getting "set boot flash true"? Is that just coming from the console screen or are doing something that is setting the boot flash true? Also the connect and disconnect is possibly a windows chip/driver issue (long story) as I switched to Linux to avoid this (however I used windows to flash the machine) as didn't have the issue you are seeing but a general problem with windows reliably sending lengthy GCode sets as for some strange reason after about 30 min or so windows would disconnect. Did a lot of home work found it to be an issue with Windows, the chipset and drivers. However I recall you mentioned that printing from the memory card you had issues too and if that is case, sorry to say I thing there is something wrong (physically) with the printer so check all of your connect these are know for these types of intermittent issues Chuck Helebuck and a few others did vid's on this about 2 years back regarding loose thermister connects and the like as I recall...
DIY3DTECH.com The compile usually takes a min or two, I'm guessing the upload is the thing that takes 3.whatever seconds. I've got a dual core threaded to a quad core at 3.5 ghz. The "set boot flash" stuff was from the last 4 lines of the console after the upload had supposedly finished. I don't think the memory card is bad, I'm thinking the firmware glitched out, but I've been wrong before. It moved around fine but I think the last time someone printed with it they jammed it and didn't bother to try and un-jam it. Do you think flashing it with Linux would work? Or is it the physical usb ports? I don't have a Linux machine persé but I do have several VM's running Linux. You think that would work
Don't over stress the bed align it is a pain in the butt as if its not in a crazy tolerance it errors. I simply use a paper align to get it close and then an alignment. However to be honest any more just do the paper alignment and that is good enough to 99% of the stuff I print on it...
Good afternoon DIY3DTECH.com I have the firmware Repeating 0.92 Aufgespiel and see there on my XYZ DaVinci 2.0A, the printer moves. Because whole for me new territory is, it is very difficult of course for me to understand the whole one with X Y Z axis etc. Then I have to me the software Repetier host and Simplify3D installed and with the printer to groups. funtoniert everything the axes everybody is selected. Because I do not know with best for the sake of like I should set z axis I ask you for help. I think this what has certainly with configration.h close or? I would be very grateful to you really very much if you to me there could help. The best greetings from Hamburg Mike
Mike love Hamburg! Been there many times (CeBit and other things), however I am not tracking all of your questions. I assume you successfully installed the new firmware?
Yes Hamburg is very nice :) i have the Repetier .0.92.10 flashed on my DaVinci 2.0A i can controlled my printer with the Repetier-Host software. left and right and high, but my problem is when i will printing gos the extruder to the right side of the table. the table is to high for the printing. Sorry my english is not good :) thanks so much
You first need to level your bed and if you can’t pull it down enough with the thumb screws, then you will need to enter a small Z offset (I could pull my bed down far enough the thumb screws alone)
Awesome job Joe. You do make it look easy. I think you produce the most detailed and technically advanced 3d printer videos on RUclips. Keep up the great work,, and I will certainly keep spreading the word about this channel. Thx so much :)
Many thanks for the kind words! Its a lot of fun too!

I don't see the 2.0a duo mentioned only the 2.0 duo?

No clue, but would give it an 80% chance of bricking as XZY made changes in the newer models...
where did you download the firmware and how do you calibrate now, comes an option in the menu?
Sorry did this MANY years back so check the description to see if the links are still valid as I no long have with of these printers...

@@DIY3DTECHcom Would it be possible to just switch out the mobo for a xxxlolu board?
I can't find the previous video showing you flashing the 1.0a. Could you link it please?
Serach Jumper 37 (that is the title)
It worked fine flashing first time. Something went wrong so I tried to refresh. Now i get no ports showing up in decide manager. Just says USB not functioning correctly. Any suggestions?
Assume you used windows? Try a Linux or MAC they handle UBS communication far better then Windows...
You dont need to short pins just connect with the arduino serial monitor at the lowest baudrate possible and it will reset it.
Thanks for sharing, I have read that, however never tried it as it seems to work for some and not others (again only what I read). So figured jumping was as sure shot...
how do you set up the USB drivers....I just keep getting error 43 regarding drivers
Wow, I did this a long, long time ago and have no clue of XYZ Made changes since then...

Not that I am aware, its one way street...
any tutorial on how to get both extruders to work correctly in repetier? Thanks

Hi! No, i downloaded the Arduino 1.5.8. beta version...which is the only 1.5.8 available.
Alvaro Posada did you ever figure it out I have the same problem
I need Da Vinci 2.0 Repetier bed Settings . It is printing off the bed
This is defined in the config.h and sounds like you have flashed with the wrong package

There is no link to the software for Arduino?

Cheers mate aready sorted but getting the bed to align and the settings for this to work is a real bitch, given up again until im in the mood lol

Sorry my english is not good :)
thanks so much
You first need to level your bed and if you can’t pull it down enough with the thumb screws, then you will need to enter a small Z offset (I could pull my bed down far enough the thumb screws alone)
thanks so much but when i pull the screws dont go the Zmin evalation is this right ?
