something I found Interesting: All of Cody's Weapons in the game seem to be about slowing or weighing people down (Ice magic, sap, Size changing sorta, nails, etc) While May's weapons revolve around general killing and violence (Matchgun, Hammer, Fire sword, fighting the squirrel on the plane, etc)
I think it’s a good way to show their personality differences, Cody is more creative and willing to go with the flow (also shown by the fact he is clay and has a plant incorporated) while May is more direct and logical (also shown by the fact she’s a wooden doll with joints that shows mechanical attributes)
In the toy section, I kind of interpreted that when they are fighting Rose's toys, they are fighting her creativity, imagination and innocence. The toys are trying to protect Rose instead of her actual parents. Its really sad.
And the fact that the parents didnvt even try to understand that their actions were upsetting Rose and that the toys were actually for out for her instead of the parents... like... the parents are just selfish and self-obsessed assholes blaming everyone else and not taking responsibility for themselves/thier actions...
Nothing says you're a good parent like brutally murdering your child's favourite stuffed toy and joyously bathing in their tears once they discover the stuffed homicide. Seriously Queen Cutie deserved so much better she was literally pleading for her life! I am never going to be okay with this! QAQ
Her escapism, the age inappropriate action figures, the over compensation of gifts and toys, and her almost ambivalent reaction to their divorce proves it.
I’ve watched a couple other people play parts of this game, and I just have to say that these two making each other laugh and working together to fix things instead of constantly killing each other (not to mention actually letting us hear the story instead of talking over it) makes it the most enjoyable play through I’ve seen yet
Honestly, for listening to the story and having fun together, EvanandKatlyn play this game really well, and definitely better at not talking over the game
Imagine if one day Cody and May explained to Rose that they're the ones who murdered their favourite doll while it was begging for its life, and then danced in joy underneath their child's face as tears fell on them. Rose would probably think about moving out long before she's old enough to.
The Cutie scene absolutely broke me. There's just something so cruel and needless about it. Even if they think it'll break their spell, it still shocks me to see Cody and May able to push past their objections to kill the embodiment of their child's innocence. For anyone else trying to make peace with that scene, I feel ya. A thought that helps me process all of that goes something like this: Cutie the Elephant ultimately represents Rose's happiness and childhood innocence. By killing that toy, Cody and May are just doing what they've always been doing: putting their squables ahead of the needs of their child. If they can at least come to amicable terms for themselves and their daughter, then Cutie didn't fall for nothing. Above all, nothing can undo what they did, but they still have a chance in this story to mend (or more likely begin mending) what Cutie represents. Now if you'll excuse me I'll go back to sobbing in my pillow.
Yeah it’s so messed up but I will try and forget about it and enjo the rest of the play through it’s a really good game - of course I will never watch that elephant part ever again...
My boyfriend and I ended the Cutie section sporting tears and deeply upset with the characters. It is honestly one of the most upsetting sections a game has asked me to complete in order to progress the story, despite the cutesy vibes of most of the game. Loved this game, but god was that part frickin rough. A surprising tone shift I was not prepared for.
The fact that the stuffing coming from Cutie's leg that got ripped off was gently flowing down, and how she comments on things getting fuzzy. Harrowing. It's like Happy Tree Friends, but worse.
Dude I wept like a BABY when my boyfriend and I got to that part! I grabbed all the stuffed animals I could fit on my lap and held them for the rest of our gaming session cuz I was so upset. We haven't finished the game yet and are working on getting the last piece of the letter Rose wrote right now, but GOD I hope they fix Cutie at the end
I played this with a guy I’m dating. I gotta say was really turned off by his lack of remorse for killing her. Whilst I was whining I don’t want to hurt her every time we did an action that hurt her or when I was trying to look around the room for another possible option he kept saying “c’mon hurry up we have to kill her” “where are you going? We need to kill her!”and just kept rushing me with zero empathy was kinda weird. I get that’s it’s just a game and it’s not real but.., whoah, this dude didn’t even hesitate. Should I be worried? Lol. Am I dating a sociopath?
Kids as young as Rose rarely cry of joy. In their size, it is pretty impossible to do that, its infinitely easier to make kids cry of sadness instead of joy.
this game does a really good job of showing narcissistic parents, i think. as someone WITH narcissistic parents, this game really hits, especially when they literally murder the kid's favorite toy just for themselves. this game also shows that divorce is sometimes necessary, the whole premise kind of fucks me up and makes me angry. super interested in the way this end

They also never take into account their daughters feelings about their divorce. They don't want to return to their bodies to help their daughter and talk to her, they only want to get back so that they can get divorced. It's even proven how they don't care from in the beginning where they don't even THINK to BEGIN to WONDER about why their daughter bought a book on how to save a marriage. Her toys only want to look after her. To make her happy. Her toys realize they're trying to HURT her, and the parents just think the toys are crazy and that THEY'RE in the right even though ALL SIGNS POINT to them being completely IN THE WRONG. The toy/play place area seriously gave me nostalgia. It just reminded me of playing within those play places in the malls or in McDonalds. SO colorful and fun, makes me wanna be a kid again.
A lot of people comment on how cruel Rose’s parents were to murder her favorite toy and then literally bathe in her tears with WAY too much enthusiasm, but at the same time, they’re literally trapped in a parallel world where thus far, everything has tried to kill them in horrible ways, in doll bodies. You’d be desperate to get back to the real world too. That said, the elephant scene was fucked and I had to take a moment after watching that.
These videos take FOREVER to watch, because sometimes you have to rewatch parts to see the other half of the screen to see THAT point of view - I LOVE IT!!
While I love A Way Out... Something about this game just, feels nice. Especially when chill, lovable Gab plays with energetic, hilarious Sean! Great game with an even better duo!
I am glad you two are playing the characters you picked, lol wouldn't be the same otherwise. So sad about the elephant, they are so blinded by trying to get back to normal, they don't consider how upset their daughter will be.
Thre people who made the game did a great job of portraying selfish people, and selfish intentions, without inherently making the characters evil (despite some stuff they did)
It Takes Two is it is a game you cant really lose at. It has multiple different games inside it that can help teach the basic points of gaming, it allows a couple to learn how to play games together and some different game functions so they can have fun playing other video games as well. It has quite a few different depths to the game.
This game was amazing - I love all of the easter eggs and minigames but I wish they were easier to spot (i.e. making the minigame tambourine louder so you can hear it from a distance), bcos there were quite a few things they missed (including a minigame hidden in the force field tunnel 21:16 and how even w/chat letting them know they should go back to it, they still missed the developer's Oscar speech easter egg w/ the satellite dish).
Rewatching this and the part where they had to kill the elephant still upsets me 😢 what made them think that making their child cry tears of sadness will turn them back. If my parents torn my favourite toy into pieces, I would never look at them the same again
Ok but Im playing this with my boyfriend and I literally cried at the cutie part, he kept saying how morbid it is and I was screeching about the poor elephant 🤣
my only complaint about this game is its basically saying "you need to force yourselves to stay together for your kid, even if your arguments cause depression/trauma" (note, i have never seen the ending)
Just randomly I said collaboration in my best book of love impression and right after gab said collaboration. That just made my day that was super funny.
Game Premise: These two need to learn to work together and repair their relationship for the sake of their daughter. Me: ...bruh these two need a divorce YESTERDAY. And maybe that kid needs to go spend a few years with grandparents or cousins or literally anyone who actually pays attention to her beyond buying her new toys.
Though the murder scene was definitely messed up, doesn’t the daughter have amazing crafting skills that she could use to fix Cutie? Like, didn’t she make the parents’ dolls? Their shirts are knitted, she’s gotta have some sewing abilities...

The toy/play place area seriously gave me nostalgia. It just reminded me of playing within those play places in the malls or in McDonalds. SO colorful and fun, makes me wanna be a kid again.
1:19:03 i just love listening to him saying "collaboration" LMAO it is do gooood
Watched the Cutie section while holding my son's stuffed animal elephant trying not to cry 😅
Oh my God... that poor elephant begging for her life. That was horrifying!
That poor elephant, it made me cry lol
I’ve seen this game plenty of times and that scene with Cutie is STILL traumatizing.
1:12:15 reminds me so much of that particular section in Control where you had to chase a rogue TV. LMAO
Seriously, this game has EVERYTHING. Street fighter, Mario Galaxy, Diablo.
Not gonna lie, that part with Cutie the elephant scarred me, it was so sad!
If my parents torn my favourite toy into pieces, I would never look at them the same again
jack "i can hear the short jokes now"
also jack "your going to have to toss me" quoting a dwarf lol.
Who else googled their heights after watching this video? I didnt know Gab was so tall. Ive only seen her in these vids.
lol i'm the same height as gab and my oldest son is over 6 foot XD
I like it when you can see both their face cams.
13:44 Babe were so in sync
Like 2 minutes later when they have to jump over the lazers "oh god"
They really are in sync
Watching you two play this game together has made me so happy.
*”It is today that we establish that Gab is the better gamer in this couple”*
Everyone: Hmm, agreed ☕️🧐
Literally my favorite game play with my two fav people!!!
Ok but Im playing this with my boyfriend and I literally cried at the cutie part, he kept saying how morbid it is and I was screeching about the poor elephant 🤣
They can fix her though! I had to keep thinking that so I wouldn't be super sad 😭😭😭😭
@@AndreaGarcia-zz7jz I was hoping we could fix her in the game but it didn't let us :(
@@zoeroux4222 They left us on a cliff hanger for a sequel! They better fix her, she was so sweet and innocent 😭😭😭😭 #justiceforcutie
In the credits, you will see a fixed cutie on roses bed. They did fix her
@@rayneclouds223 oh my gosh I didn't notice! Missed opportunity for a mini game after the main game, would have been nice to personally fix cutie.
Poor cutie that was really messed up i need to get it off my mind REALLY
I’ve only ever cried in two games and this is one of them.
Was the other brothers also by these devs?
This game is so awesome, there’s so many different mechanics and sceneries it’s just so fun
my only complaint about this game is its basically saying "you need to force yourselves to stay together for your kid, even if your arguments cause depression/trauma" (note, i have never seen the ending)
Just randomly I said collaboration in my best book of love impression and right after gab said collaboration. That just made my day that was super funny.
I was YELLING and crying when I was playing the Cutie part with my boyfriend, it was so upsetting to me.
The dinosaur bit was so adorable! Looooved it!!!
this game is so creative it has so many unique puzzles ive never seen before
Queen Cutie deserved better 😢😭
We stan making sure your partner is hydrating ❤️
I felt genuinely so bad for the elephant, she was so cute omg, so kind hearted nooooo, I don't think I should feel so strongly about this
When seán started shouting “dominoes” I thought he was still suggesting dinner
Saaame
I’m literally crying over the elephant. That was horrible 😖😭
Though the murder scene was definitely messed up, doesn’t the daughter have amazing crafting skills that she could use to fix Cutie? Like, didn’t she make the parents’ dolls? Their shirts are knitted, she’s gotta have some sewing abilities...
I am from the Netherlands and this is so funny when gab teaches Jack how to speak Dutch
