This has got to be the most painfully funny thing I've ever watched with you both. I am Dutch/ English (father from Rotterdam and mom from the North) and my husband is Irish Canadian. The amount of sheep was wanting 😉 but the mispronunciation of names etc. was pure class.
I'm now imagining someone writing a review for this game on steam and the only negative thing they have to say about it is there's a severe lack of sheep in it.
As a pagan who celebrates the Wheel of the Year, the section about Celtic/Gaelic festivals (Samhain, Imbolc, Beltaine, and Lughnasa) had me smiling the whole time 😊 I adore Irish mythology and Seán saying that the Irish are very into witchcraft absolutely cracked me up because DAMN it's true haha *P.S. Imbolc is pronounced "im-MOLG" - the b is typically silent, and the c is turned into more of a g sound (thus it often being spelled Imbolg)*
It was really fun seeing sean in a video with gab playing Nancy Drew. I like how he added some of his own little silly chaos without taking too much attention from gab. It was very enjoyable to see the two interact and respond independantly to the game.
@@AcheronAlex She’s also Ivy Valentine in SoulCalibur, the US voice of Luke in Professor Layton, the original Mia from Fire Emblem, the original Rouge the Bat in Sonic, and the Clickers in The Last of Us. She (Lani Minella) has had an insane career. Lol
That was fun. I do have a special place in my heart for this one. Though like everything in this game regarding Banshee folk is just wrong, starting with only five clans, of which Malloy is not one, can hear the cry of a Banshee so the entire thing of even having a Banshee there doesn't even make sense. Secondly, they only mourn death, not cause it. They are plagued with the premonitions of the people of those aforementioned five clans who are going to die, and mourn these deaths. But they do not cause them. Usually, if you were to see a Banshee, according to the folklore, she would be washing the blood soaked clothing of whomever was going to die, while keening for them. They're what I would call an "earth faerie", so connected to the land and the Otherworld. So flying around also doesn't make sense. Fiona is the worst in terms of trying to mimic what a Banshee is like, and I don't believe Dónal for a second that he is so invested in the faerie folk that he believes the Fiona Banshee is an actual Banshee, because of how incorrect she is to "actual" Banshee folk 😅 ignoring terrible accents, the folklore is probably my biggest grievance with this game. But yet it still has a very special place in my heart. Also, since Sean was unsure, here is some info on the history and folklore bits worth mentioning: The dates on the crosses: 1916, Easter Rising 1845, start of an Górta Mór, the Great Hunger 1801, Acts of Union passed by British Parliament The Crow, Magpie, or Raven: Symbol of death, associated with The Morrígan, in folklore. The Morrígan is the goddess of War, Death, and Fate and ruler of one of the Otherworld domains. Fear of her and her faeries seeking revenge for pushing them underground when the humans arrived in Ireland is what is said to have prompted the creation of the festival Samhain. It is also said that from her, the Banshee folk learned how to keen for the dying, as they had premonitions of death like The Morrígan herself. It is believed that the Crow, Magpie, or Raven near to or flying above a battlefield is The Morrígan in her warrior form, coming to decide the outcome of the battle. If you see one before the battle, it is also said that you and your army are doomed to fail. I personally have rather good relationships with the Corvids, but according to the old folklore, they were an omen of death for warriors. The Castle: I think the Malloy Castle building is meant to be a Norman Tower House, which are indeed prevailent across Ireland, but they made it far too wide. And too many windows, but that can just be explained away by renovations in more recent years. It looks like an odd cross between a Tower House and an 18th or 19th century manor castle... Me nitpicking, though. The Zodiac puzzle: There is an Irish zodiac system, based on the sacred trees and it's CONNECTED TO OGHÁM SCRIPT. Each Oghám letter is named after a sacred tree. So it bothers me just a little bit that they completely missed the opportunity to use the sacred trees in conjuncture with the seasons and the actual Oghám script on those megaliths. The trees are also already connected to different seasons, like the Holly with winter, and Oak with summer. Again, missed opportunity. The Triskelion: A symbol of three in one, it often is associated as symbols of power and particularly with the image of a triple goddess. Triple goddesses are goddesses in Celtic folklore (generally, not just Irish ones), who have three aspects: usually maiden, mother, and crone. These aspects represent a woman in the three main stages of her life, and in turn, represent the power of a woman throughout her life. Notable Irish triple goddesses include: The Morrígan - War, Death, Fate Bríd/Brigid - Fire, Inspiration, Smithing/trades/arts Éire/Eriú/Erin - Spirit of Ireland herself, and a notable warrior - her sisters, Banba, and Fódla, are considered her other aspects. All three gave their names to Ireland after defending it from the invading Milesians. Danu - The Great Mother I would have liked to have seen the Triskelion as more than just a passing visual, personally. Also, please bring Sean back for more ND playthroughs! It was really fun having him around... Especially for this one 😅😅😅😅
Oh and Imbolc - Also known as Saint Brigid's Feast Day, it was originally the Fire Festival that marks the beginning of Spring and start of the planting season. It is associated with the fire goddess, Bríd, who is said to bring the warmth of the sun with her upon her awakening on 1 February. The festival is celebrated 1-2 February, and honours the return of the warmth and light after the period of darkness that comes with winter. It is also the first of the great Fire Festivals on the Wheel. Samhain, held before it, is considered the end of the old year, and beginning of the new. The new year, in folk tradition, if you will. Later, it became a Christian festival, the feast of Saint Brigid of Kildare, who is an excellent example of the mixing of folklore and reality, as much of the Saint's story is blended with the goddess for whom she was named, such as both being associated with fire, smithing and metal working, creativity, and inspiration, etc.
I didn't know I needed Gab to play Nancy Drew with Sean, but turns out I did. It was so fun to watch live! Really hoping Sean will join Gab for some other Nancy games too 💕
The chemical puzzle is well known in the Nancy Drew community as the most annoying, meticulous, time-consuming puzzle 😂 Good for you guys for killing it!
EDIT:”it’s a forking sheep!!” “Tis Ireland!” 😂😂 EDIT: Finally finished watching through, very fun to watch Sean play with you, such a different experience! 😂 you solving the scale puzzle in seconds and I love that he was like “isn’t that a cairn”, “Taylor wants and end seat” his random little chimes in just show how well you guys are paired. He looks at different aspects than you do and so it was super enjoyable to see you guys have fun together ❤. Also I cannot believe you didn’t fall into the bog once?!?! Holy crap😮 SHUT UP SHUT UP SHUT UP!! I literally just played this hoping we would get this upload soon!!! Cannot wait to watch this at least five times ❤😊
I love seeing you both game together ❤️ you introduce him to games he doesn't typically play 🥰 he really seems to be open and interested in what you find exciting, that makes me happy. 💕 you both deserve all the happiness in the world. Seeing you grow as a creator has been an awesome experience. You truly blossomed and you smile so much more now 🥰 you're an awesome human, Gab! Never stop being your amazing self
Old Nancy Drew games I played with my mom: detailed adobe ruins in the desert with more-or-less accurate research, educational games with bird watching and plant picking, legit scary mid-game death runs and labyrinth escapes, very realistic This new one: shave the sheep with a Mohawk! pronounce Gaelic words however! Irish stereotypes everywhere! top down camera? flute for some reason? jetpack while nancy yells WOOOOO
Castle Malloy was always a fun one bc it was SO weird, like so much of it was not at all possible (the sheep, the jetpack), it was all so strange Waverly was one of my FAVORITES growing up, I played it the whole way through over 15 times, and a few times bothered to get ALL the awards. I can recite most of the characters' lines in perfect tone and cadence. I have played it SO. MANY. TIMES. I really hope I get to see you play it live!!
Omg my grandma used to always do the slug sacrifice thing to me (I was a warty kid) and I never knew wtf she was up to. It made my soft little 'merican heart cry.
And also Ned and Nancy don't say "I love you" until the next to last game (the last one made on the old engine), and it's not even an easy to get to dialogue option, you have to go through a lot of calls with him to get to it and you get an award for finally getting to it
10 minutes in and Sean being upset about Donal is hilarious. Reminds me of when you played the one that takes place in France, my ears were bleeding from the fake French hahaha. Mind you I'm a native and I could barely understand what they were saying in French sometimes! Gotta love Nancy games though. Everything is forgiven
Yesss!! I absolutely love watching these Nancy Drew videos. They take me back to my childhood when my friend and I would play them on her parent’s computer!
I love that both Sean and Gab will take the time to throw in a tidbit of information/explain something not all the viewers might know. I remember how Gab did the same during Ghost of Tsushima, or when she showed us how to write different kanji’s (I think it was that, at least) in one of the other Nancy games. It’s just a small thing but I really appreciate it.
1:42:31 Is there any greater joy than watching Sean and Evelien together … doing anything. 1:43:27 and I LOVE the secret tunnel song. Just ❤ they bring me joy separately but so much more when they’re together. ❤❤❤ I hope they do more together in the future.
Please never stop playing puzzle games together!! I love just seeing Gab and Sean just chilling and joking and having fun. Like this heals my heart because they both deserve so much happiness. And for two people who bring so much light to so many people. it’s incredible seeing them have someone in their lives that can do the same for them.
BTW, the trick to the "monkey puzzle" is count how many rings you have to move in total. If it's an odd number, the first ring goes to the pole that is the final position. If it's even, the first ring goes to the pole that ISN'T the final position. From there, the pattern goes back and forth between the two poles for each ring (Odd: 1-final; 2-not final; 3-final). This means you can always have a correct start no matter HOW many rings are in the stack to move. If you treat each round as a separate puzzle it also makes it easier to know where to move each layer. So when you're on round 4 and have the 4th ring in the middle, the far right side has 3 rings (odd) that need moving so you'd move the first ring to the middle (the new "final position"), the 2nd ring to the far left, and so on.
The sabbats were really cool to see featured! I live in Scotland and as a pagan I actually celebrate those events! There are eight in total called the Wheel of the Year. If you ever have the time I would recommend looking into to them, they are a good way to celebrate the seasons and you can read about how the pagan religion was "adapted" into today's Christian culture.
Probably different seasons in Ireland because farming seasons are different than weather seasons. Farming seasons start usually a month or so earlier because the season starts when you would start planning, starting seeds, moving animals, etc and ends when you would harvest/start next season. Imbolc, which just happened Feb 1-2ndish usually celebrates the start of spring, and was the time when most farmers would plan for spring planting, start indoor crops, etc. The Wheel of the Year holidays were celebrated most commonly by farming communities so they also served as a way for farmers to help keep time year round
This was so great! I loved being able to see Sean and Gab together each playing to their strengths. Gab blasted through that scale puzzle and Sean was the Cairn whisperer... 🥰

The “moonwort” is mugwort, the “marigold” is a wood sorrel, the “yarrow” is a golden yarrow which is a plant only found in California and not a actually a yarrow, and the “lady fern” looks like a sword fern or nephrolepis. Like, I guess I can forgive the fern and yarrow but the others? How did this happen? Just do a search on a stock photo site instead of picking random images. tbh though I don’t really care that much I just find it confounding

He got it right on the nose though lmao, could be a banshee, could be some weirdo running across the street
So glad Seán seemed to really enjoy it!! It was so awesome and funny watching ya’ll do this together! An absolute joy! ❤️
The fact that Gab told Sean he can leave but he decided to stay. so sweet!
Gab and Sean have such good energy together. The chill/chaos pairing is amazing. ❤️
The timing of the SHEEP and the glasses were both hilarious!
48:07 I love the synchronized “Ooooh” and then BB also weighing in.
The sheep part cracked me up. "I told you there would be sheep!" LMAO
As a pagan who celebrates the Wheel of the Year, the section about Celtic/Gaelic festivals (Samhain, Imbolc, Beltaine, and Lughnasa) had me smiling the whole time 😊 I adore Irish mythology and Seán saying that the Irish are very into witchcraft absolutely cracked me up because DAMN it's true haha
*P.S. Imbolc is pronounced "im-MOLG" - the b is typically silent, and the c is turned into more of a g sound (thus it often being spelled Imbolg)*
Repent and turn to Christ. You’ll only bring yourself harm by participating in paganism and witchcraft.
Like the name Maeve in traditional Irish spelling, there's definitely a "b" in there lol
Evelyn looking directly at Sean and saying "I do." Bless. They in luuuuv 😍
It was really fun seeing sean in a video with gab playing Nancy Drew. I like how he added some of his own little silly chaos without taking too much attention from gab. It was very enjoyable to see the two interact and respond independantly to the game.
The look Sean gave you when you solved the scale puzzle was adorable. Like "You have big wrinkle brain"
The fact that you had Seán join you for the Ireland set Nancy game makes me SO happy.
The actor who voices Nancy also did the voice of the Sea Emperess in Subnautica!
Oh my god. I knew the sea empress sounded familiar but i never connected the dots. Thank you.
Lol
@@Little1Cave she voiced the girl in the layton games, not Luke but... the girl whose name I forgot. I play those games as much as I can but I forgot
@@annepixiebettinger3593 That’s true, but she was also Luke in the US version. The UK dub was voiced by Maria Darling so maybe you heard that one?
Also, America's Next Top Model 😅.
Also, since Sean was unsure, here is some info on the history and folklore bits worth mentioning:
The dates on the crosses:
1916, Easter Rising
1845, start of an Górta Mór, the Great Hunger
1801, Acts of Union passed by British Parliament
The Crow, Magpie, or Raven:
Symbol of death, associated with The Morrígan, in folklore.
The Castle:
I think the Malloy Castle building is meant to be a Norman Tower House, which are indeed prevailent across Ireland, but they made it far too wide. And too many windows, but that can just be explained away by renovations in more recent years. It looks like an odd cross between a Tower House and an 18th or 19th century manor castle... Me nitpicking, though.
The Zodiac puzzle:
There is an Irish zodiac system, based on the sacred trees and it's CONNECTED TO OGHÁM SCRIPT.
The Triskelion:
A symbol of three in one, it often is associated as symbols of power and particularly with the image of a triple goddess. Triple goddesses are goddesses in Celtic folklore (generally, not just Irish ones), who have three aspects: usually maiden, mother, and crone. These aspects represent a woman in the three main stages of her life, and in turn, represent the power of a woman throughout her life. Notable Irish triple goddesses include:
The Morrígan - War, Death, Fate
Bríd/Brigid - Fire, Inspiration, Smithing/trades/arts
Éire/Eriú/Erin - Spirit of Ireland herself, and a notable warrior - her sisters, Banba, and Fódla, are considered her other aspects. All three gave their names to Ireland after defending it from the invading Milesians.
Danu - The Great Mother
I would have liked to have seen the Triskelion as more than just a passing visual, personally.
Also, please bring Sean back for more ND playthroughs! It was really fun having him around... Especially for this one 😅😅😅😅
Oh and Imbolc -
Also known as Saint Brigid's Feast Day, it was originally the Fire Festival that marks the beginning of Spring and start of the planting season.
I love how grounded the other information is and then there's a jetpack
I didn't know I needed Gab to play Nancy Drew with Sean, but turns out I did. It was so fun to watch live! Really hoping Sean will join Gab for some other Nancy games too 💕
YEEEESSSS! You’re finally playing my favorite Nancy Drew game. And I’m so excited to see Sean is here too. You guys are so fun to watch together.
"It looks like you're gonna make a bomb."
Me, who's been a fan of Nancy Drew since 2003: "Yeah. About that."
I feel so validated Sean is shocked by Gab’s puzzle solving skills too. In some HOG’s she just solves it and i don’t even know what the puzzle is
This is my favorite Nancy drew stream yet, jacks comments had me cackling the moment he said the sheep was the husband 😂😂😂
I love how Jack starts out making fun of this game and by half way through he is SUPER into it.
The chemical puzzle is well known in the Nancy Drew community as the most annoying, meticulous, time-consuming puzzle 😂 Good for you guys for killing it!
So hyped for Warnings at Waverly Academy!!! It’s one of if not THE most iconic game of the series.
EDIT:”it’s a forking sheep!!” “Tis Ireland!” 😂😂
EDIT: Finally finished watching through, very fun to watch Sean play with you, such a different experience! Holy crap😮
SHUT UP SHUT UP SHUT UP!!
“does nancy ever swear?”
“no.”
“…what the FUCK is the answer to this puzzle.” 🤣
How Sean gently and so patiently helped her with English words was so precious. He's such a sweet man and so good to her.
A Nancy Drew with Evelyn & Sean!? Omg, this is a treat!!!
I had a really terrible weekend. You have no idea how much this upload helps me. Thank you.
Old Nancy Drew games I played with my mom: detailed adobe ruins in the desert with more-or-less accurate research, educational games with bird watching and plant picking, legit scary mid-game death runs and labyrinth escapes, very realistic
This new one: shave the sheep with a Mohawk! pronounce Gaelic words however! Irish stereotypes everywhere! top down camera? flute for some reason? jetpack while nancy yells WOOOOO
Castle Malloy was always a fun one bc it was SO weird, like so much of it was not at all possible (the sheep, the jetpack), it was all so strange
Waverly was one of my FAVORITES growing up, I played it the whole way through over 15 times, and a few times bothered to get ALL the awards.
Okay, I just found it really cute that at 01:44, Gab looked directly at Seán before saying, "I do."
❤❤❤ I hope they do more together in the future.
just hearing Jack's reactions during this was the best thing out of this haha
Having those two together its such a treat 😊
i love this so much. it makes me so happy that y’all played Nancy Drew together.
Seans reactions made this so much more fun! The way his eyes lit up when the sheep appeared was adorable
"So these are the games you like huh?"
The momness of this statement
Sean has his arms crossed, but I though that was Gab holding him there so he wouldn't run away lol
Sean’s non-horror (not counting resident evil) videos have been my go to sleep videos for months now, and now I’m getting I have watching this video while falling asleep for at least half a year. now you two together make the perfect ones, especially your dynamic together. its entertaining and calming.
every night i watch more before sleep takes me so I am close to finally solving it!
I love watching content creators from other countries. Its the best way to learn how to curse in other countries
Sean’s immediate disdain for my childhood love, Ned Nickerson, is making me question my entire world view now 😂
Absolutely love that Sean joined in this to give his two pence on their take of Ireland and Irish culture. Even better that each time Gab offered him an opportunity to back out and stop playing, he was determined to keep on through to the end. The two of them are so absolutely precious together~
evelyn and i had the same response to nancy saying she's never been in a castle before lol 'yes you have!'
Seán's color commentary is golden!
This was an absolute joy to watch, the energies you both bring are so infectious and wholesome, and seeing Sean's reactions to the goofiness of Nancy Drew had me dead lol - if you both enjoyed doing this I'd love to see you play more Nancy Drew games together!!
Omg the music at 2:50:00 is called "Governor Of The North", and I immediately recognized it because I use it in my DnD campaign a lot 😂😂😂 I entered in my "You enter the tavern, roll for perception" mode
1:54:06 As a botanist it pains me to say that 4 of the pictures shown here are wrong.
Sean reading the Brehon law book flawlessly followed by:
"So what does that mean?"
"I have no idea, I don't speak Irish" 😂
Also- this has been my favorite Nancy game you've played yet... and I think it was because of how fun the dynamic was between you two the entire time! I hope yall do another one sometime together!
I'm so glad Sean sang rattlin bog while you guys were going through the bog lmao 😂 I had it in my head but I don't remember the lyrics good enough to sing it
I LOVE Skyler expressions. They're so fluid and lively. It was so cool having Jack included in a Nancy Drew playthrough!
BB was so loud meowing at 44:29, that my cat jumped up on the bed to find him 😂.
This was super fun!! You probably won’t see this comment but I think the reason you couldn’t ever check off exploring the nursery is because you need to look at the rocking horse and it will drop a coin.
I am SHOCKED that Sean didn’t notice that the voice actress for Nancy is the same as the Sea Emperor from Subnautica.
Nancy drew games are SO underrated i am thrilled by this
3:28:09 I'm fairly sure that this is also a sneaky reference to the next game in the series, because Ransom of the Seven Ships took place in the Bahamas (which is near Cuba). Also, since it says "one year soon you'll finally join us here" and "the seas await your notice" it sounds like a reference to a future game!''
3:35:30 Check out the Waverly Academy sign! Warnings at Waverly Academy is game #21 (and the next one Evelien is going to play 😁)
I need an animation of Sean & Gabs talking to Bess & George on the phone- fawning over BBQ’s and washboard abs lol
3:09:02 That improvised poem was amazing. X,D
"that's just a drunk lad" Sean I just about died XD
Your ND series is ALWAYS my favorite but I am SO excited for this one!!! My husband and I played this when we had Covid and its got great memories. I am so happy that you're playing it with your partner too
The freaking slider puzzles! I always dread Nancy Drew games having slider puzzles.
