A few tips! Spoiler-free! 1. It's best to upgrade the axe, pickaxe and whip to the max for each material before going into a new biome. 2. You can search the stones with a scroll in them to get items. It's mostly for the treasure hunter profession but you can have multiple professions at the same time. 3. The rabbits remove the weeds from your crops if the hut is placed nearby. Also it is recommended to fence in your crops and rabbits so foxes don't eat them. (btw, don't have a gate between the rabbits and crops because then they can't eat the weeds. Animals and Lumas can't walk through gates by themselves.) 4. Each area has it's own bait. The bugs in the area are for the fish in the same area. The metal baits are for treasure chests. 5. Have the pickaxe equipped to pick flowers, berries and mushrooms easier. 6. When you get hit by monsters, you don't take damage, you drop items. So remember to pick them up again! 7. You can feed and pet your luma pets once a day for 2 luma energies per pet. The energies are needed when you craft more difficult items for the first time.¨ 8. You can place your blueprints and then insert the items to build it when you have the items. It's easier to see what items you need and it's easier to plan your farm. Anyway that's just a few tips I've found while playing myself. I only just got to the mountain biome. Thanks for a lovely collab and a lovely video! Can't wait to see more!
love that chat pointed out "vegan leather" is bad for the environment. it's just pleather, rebranded. actual leather is biodegradable so as long as the rest of the animal is used (like for food) then it's actually more ethical than drowning our planet in more plastic (which also makes it worse for living non-human animals). there are other alternatives as well like cactus leather but they're not being mass produced (at the moment). ideally, plant leather would become more of a thing (it just depends whether land and water usage is more sustainable for plants than it would be for cows or sheep).
Yeah, i also used to think "oh fake leather must be better because it doesnt require killing an animal". But its just plastic.. so i sort of recently realised that since way more animals are being killed than what could possibly be used for leather (i sure hope, at least-) its far better to actually make use of every part of the animal than to make a bunch of plastic stuff and call it "vegan leather", especially since items made of it tend to break and wear down (without being biodegradable, mind you) faster than items made of real leather. What we can do however, is try to get things that are made with eco-friendly sourced leather, where the animals lived reasonably okay lives and the rest of their bodies were used for meat etc. We can also, of course, care for the things we have so that they last longer, and try to reuse or give things away when possible. Pls note that all this is coming at the problem from quite an individualistic perspective, which should never be the end-all be-all of our work for the environment as that would fix nothing when huge corporations continue to pump gasses into the air and throw trash into the water because they operate in a system that rewards endless growth. Still, its obviously worth mentioning that vegan leather is a pretty bullshit and misleading product.
Bit late to the whole discussion here, but I just want to point out that "cactus leather" can actually contain plastic, if less of it than the fully plastic PU leather. Plant leathers are definitely an interesting alternative to animal hide that's worth looking at, but if you're trying to shop plastic free this is sth to keep in mind. If you want to be eco-conscious while buying leather it's worth looking into how the leather was tanned. Different tanning methods can vary in how bad they are for the environment. For example vegetable tanned leather is generally considered to be a bit more eco-friendly, but it's usually not water-resistant. So it depends on what product you're buying. (And if you can buy secondhand that can be another way to bring the eco-footprint down regardless of leather tanning method.)
there are vegan leather options that are biodegradable, also justifying killing an animal because “plastic” is pretty insane, specially when you consider the environmental impact that factory farming is causing to our planet. it doesn’t make sense how killing over 60 billion land animals, and trillions of marine life a year is in any way more sustainable. the amount of waste that on its own creates. the mental gymnastics people go through to keep torturing animals baffles me.
The fact that this game has no stamina bar literally means I could totally get addicted. I love being able to make unhindered progress. Its a game so I just want to have fun and explore, stamina always gets in the way of that. Can't wait to buy this on Steam and play after work today!
I don't know yet if the two of you figure this out later, but at 24:08, a wheat that you pull up fly all the way to Eeowna. So while you got credit for harvesting it, you didn't get the actual wheat. By the time you both had finished the 'harvest 10 wheat'-quest, you would have 9 wheat in your inventory and Eeowna would have 11.
I think I was a bit tired when I wrote that and wasn't thinking of tone. It doesn't read as outright rude at least, but definitely not as nice as I would have wanted it to be. 🙈 I'll add here that my point was: No, you're not going crazy, and no, you haven't lost your ability to count! 😅
No-Spoiler Advice: 1. Use the hoe on the crops, mushrooms, and flowers. It's faster and as you upgrade the hoe there's a chance to get more than one item. 2. You can both pet and feed the lumas once a day for two energy. The magic food from the mushroom man can be eaten multiple times a day for extra energy and uses tokens instead of coins. Very necessary for profession items. 3. The forest is HUGE! So much to explore, lots of creatures trying to steal your stuff. The flowers can be stun-locked easily. The three-bug plants can also be whipped but come back each day. 4. Mining: Even mining rocks can be profitable fire finding sellable items. A spider automatically comes down after about 4 hours(?) in the mines, so the further you go out I'd recommend making loops around paths so you can evade them unless you want to kill them. 5. Sleeping is handy if you're cooking things that take a while and want to make the night go faster. Once you finally get moonstone ore it takes forever to smelt. 6. As you explore more and get more treasure, you will find more everseeds. So keep pulling up chests and killing monsters.
@bloodfae Yes, and I actually got the hint from looking at the achievements, same with the bird. It does involve an action she hasn't quite figured out yet (but she will). Still trying to figure out what to do with the fox, though. I'm trying not to look things up. :)
Thanks for the useful tips! While I have harvested some crops with the hoe before and gotten double yield, it didn't click in my mind that it was a feature and not just random.
This was my FAV collab ever, i'm so happy Gab and Iona are friends, they make for such lovely & cozy times. ❤ What an incredible game luma has been as well, its been keeping my mind calm.
I’m so excited!! I forgot Gab was doing multiplayer with Iona! I bought this game immediately after watching Gab’s demo awhile back, and didn’t watch stream to avoid spoilers. I love it 💕
Once I found a little spider inside the ear of my headphones - something compelled me to look before I put them on, thank god. Another time there was a huge house spider that crawled around the side of the mattress and wasn't seen again, and this was in the middle of the night, so my partner and I had to go back to sleep knowing that an arachnid with the leg span of a crumpet was lurking nearby
This game looks very grindy, but a little less so with a friend. I hope there's part 2 or more of this playthrough! It's fun to see you two helping each other 😊
As someone who has 7 lumas already, pretty sure you can use any essence when incubating. I just always used the one I had the most of. edit: also, you use fertilizer after harvesting aand, you spend nature tokens at the mushroom guy's shop, not money, so it's worth shopping there
I can tell this is going to be a wonderful series and already one of my favorites! Gab and Eowena have lovely on screen chemistry and I loooove how many things Luma Island has to explore!! 💙🍓
Just gonna add a little tibbit about the leather question! There are vegan leathers which are mushroom based! yes they exist and so does pineapple leaf, coconut, and cactus leather! but they are not that common because they cost so much to even try to produce! And so most places that say or offer vegan leather(such as doc martens), are in fact plastic just like cheap shoes are, its pleather and other synthetic leathers which are horrible for the envrionment. Ironically enough so far, animal leather is gonna be your best bet for the environment because good quality and well cared leather will last you ages! It can also be a by-product from the meat industry when it comes to less exotic hides. So what im saying is your best bet if you are very serious about being vegan outside of food is secondhand leather, or otherwise an exception to the rule and just taking good care of your leather goods in order to have them last you long enough to not buy more.
additional note not related to the leather directly but to address other animal product clothing: furs are definitely more unethical as an industry (and i mean industry, this isn't counting native and indigenous tribes that uphold their local traditions and do so with respect towards their local environments) so it's best to shop them secondhand. If you have to get one animal product new i'd say wool and other such natural fibers because those are usually not performed with animal harm (and are in fact necessary for sheep otherwise they overheat and can pass away), except in maybe a few specific exceptions, and they also are better for the environment and for you! (acrylic is just plastic just like polyester and will not keep you warm or allow you to breathe) Hope this helps for any person worried about animal harm, there is lots of misiniformation easily spread when it comes to alternatives and also animal treatment for certain domains (such as wool and beekeeping) so id encourage everyone to do their research and most importantly be aware of what they are buying by reading material compositions!
WOOHOOO I CANT wait for this!!! I just rebuilt the boat!! I found this game because of gab and have been playing it ever since its release! Thank you gab!
Hearing you will actually play Fields of Mistria one day is making me really happy, I thought it wasn't for you, but I am so happy we will see it one day and more of this game!!!

its always a good strategy to keep at least 10 of every item in your inventory. dungeons have doors in them that you can unlock with crops, enemy drops, crystals, etc. the jewelries are straight up money tho, so those can be sold without thought! also archaeology aint that hard, also gives you a fk ton of money right out the gate
Looking forward to watching the two of you! This game is so cute! I have about 17 hours in it and am in the mountains now. I am enjoying it, but it is feeling a bit grindy and slightly repetitive in the way you progress from one area to the next. I am enjoying it, though, but I wish there was a bit more story behind it. Still haven't come across the chimp ;) Edit: I've only done treasure hunting. Gonna go home and buy the rest of the professions!
I cannot stop watching people play this! Because I can't play myself every second of every day! But I wish I could! I hope you keep this going as a series 🥹🫶
Yes, it's here! 🎉I'm going to hold off on watching this since I want to play the game mostly blind, but I can't wait to see the multiplayer gameplay here once I'm a bit deeper into LI myself. Loving the game so far. 💛 (I chose brewer profession and while I regret not doing fisher instead a little bit, it has been really fun and varied so far. The only thing I'm personally missing a bit is befriending NPCs, which seems to be way less of a thing in LI than with other games like this.)
I've had too many people offer me banana bread made with bananas that just stopped being green. For the record, just stopped being green, is not ripe. And it shows.
If you look in your inventory and an item has a gold looking star above it it's a drop on death item. Also the grey tokens you get can buy "ever seeds" from mushroom guy at 10 tokens each.
Goobus you can throw items with m&k with R! I started this game the day it came out and went straight fisherman arc, and after watching you try the treasure hunter skill ill make that my next skill! It seems like theres professions that go together. Smithing and jewelry crafting, fishing and treasure hunting, cooking and brewing,
AHHH Gabs has a pet penguin! It’s soooo cute!😊❤ Love watching them huck materials at each other. Haha it’s so funny!😂 Ohhh cave spiders, no thank you!😨
Gabs quick question, would you ever do another playthrough of silent hill origins? (yours is 8 years old) I've already consumed all your 2020+ silent hill content 😂 I would adore it, of course no problem if you don't want/choose not to ♥️ Since i became a huge silent hill fan because of you, just asking out of curiosity ofc
I found out that when giving the Luma, Luma Life, you don't have to use a specific element to make it, just whichever one you can craft will work for every egg.
Bought the game recently after watching your earlier videos on it and i tried the archeologist job, i can finally see why they gave it the highest difficulty LOL. I'm having a lot of fun thank you for showing me this game GAB ❤
I'd recommend trying this with a controller. I usually prefer playing farming sims with KBM, but the controls in Luma ISland are really simple and intuitive with controller.
AHH thank you for having me! I've been having so much fun with this playthrough!!
Fantasy Life mention, heck yeah!!

You know what they say? A journey of 100K starts with one fish.
Such a cute game and the developers put alot into detail.
Gahhh two of my favorite gamers doing a video together! Just what I needed today! 😃
I love this game. Can’t wait to see you and Eeowna play more!

I found out that when giving the Luma, Luma Life, you don't have to use a specific element to make it, just whichever one you can craft will work for every egg.
Speaking of farming sims with professions, gab needs to play sun haven so much. Its finally got a switch release date so HOPEFULLY
Blue print for rubble recycle is provided in the Blacksmith trade.
I’ve played so much of this game because of Gab and I was so excited for her to see the ghosts !
Bought the game recently after watching your earlier videos on it and i tried the archeologist job, i can finally see why they gave it the highest difficulty LOL. I'm having a lot of fun thank you for showing me this game GAB ❤
Luma has quickly become one of my fave games ❤
Omg loved this. Need more videos ASAP!
I'd recommend trying this with a controller. I usually prefer playing farming sims with KBM, but the controls in Luma ISland are really simple and intuitive with controller.
Yes!!! I've been waiting for more Luma island!!
I think Gab's would love the lizard luma with glasses.
