Don't know if they still do, but the US Navy used to issue Rayban-styled frames to all recruits needing eyeglasses in boot camp - - you'd get two pairs, along with a rubber retaining strap to hold them in place during vigorous exercise.
I have the slightly smaller Rayban frames, both as sunglasses and regular glasses. They don’t leave an imprint below the orbital socket but still look great.
Good review! I'm with you on the 2140 - IMO the best Wayfarer by far. The New Wayfarer does nothing for me, I find it so generic in comparison. Speaking personally, the 2140 really are built for my face/shape it seems. I'm lucky that I don't seem to have the problem with them leaving any marks. I'll always wear or own a pair of these for sure.
I have one clear and one UV400 Ray Ban Wayfarer 2132’s. It’s all I wear for over 15 years. You must have good tools for life! Great video on this topic. Your pipe / tobacco videos are the best ! I know your mileage never varies😎! PS……. They are prescription issue glasses!
Great video! I feel like the intro is a reference that’s going over my head though? I also feel some reverse culture shock watching this. Sunglasses are very much a faux pas in Japan because so much communication is done through eye contact. Earlier this summer when I was commuting to work, a giant hornet got on the train. I started to laugh because I was so freaked out. I looked at another passenger in the eyes, and then to the hornet, and then back to the passenger again. A blink of his eyes communicated to me, “I know.” So much communication is lost when you throw a pair of sunglasses in the mix because of how much is not spoken directly out loud. This is not a knock or criticism in any way. But I have been in Japan for so long now that I can’t look at a pair of sunglasses the same way anymore because I am unable to “read” the eyes. The sunglasses are a great product though! 😅🤣
All I wear...keeping them in business by accidentally setting them down at various places and walking away...only to find out in eye squinting fashion once walking outside...
Those look great on you brother and they’re nice wayfarers but those are not the original. The ones you have are a bit different looking on the nose piece and the shape is a little different as well. Still cool wayfarers but not the OG’s.
So the bottom outer rim of the lenses should come almost straight down like it’s almost squared off where as yours has a drastic curve inwards. There should be an almost squared off rounded point on the bottom outer part of the lenses. If that makes sense. If you just type in o2140 in Google you can compare the shape of the lenses.
Those sunglasses will always bring me back to the 80's when they were in everything, including music. Great video!
My prescription glasses are always Ray Ban.
You are right fashion is fleeting style is timeless.
That transition was boss!

I'm thinking of "Cowboy" from Full Metal Jacket.
Love the creative, artistic and aesthetical aspects of these videos. You exude a Velvet Underground/Lou Reed aura wearing those...suits you!
I appreciate that!
I wear my sunglasses at night… 😎 Joking aside, the wayfarers are my absolute favourite Ray-bans.

my nan was a massive roy orbinson fan, so in her memory i got wayfarers and never looked back since
My favourite sunglasses are the Oakley Holbrook. They just work perfectly with my face.
Strong Federico Fellini vibes in the beginning. Love it man
That's definitely what I was going for! :-)
I’ve been wearing Ray Ban Wayfarers for years. Mine are the standard black frames with blue tinted lenses….and prescription because I’m blind, lol

Thanks for sharing, and thanks for watching!
Hahaha! I was confused by the intro. I was wondering what the symbol of the 80s had to do with The Godfather. Great vid!
Haha! Trying to get a little Fellini vibe. ;-)

I was just trying to invoke a little bit of a Fellini vibe! I always think of old Italian movies when I look at Ray-Ban Wayfarer sunglasses.
JFK did not wear Wayfarers, he wore the Saratoga from American Optical
It’s not just you. The 2132’s do not leave a mark and are more comfortable. I love the originals but was much more satisfied with the new wayfarer.
I just love the chunkiness of the originals, so I'll put up with the marks. :-)
Great series Bradley!!
Thank you!
and Ray Ban Caravan model is quite timeless as well
You asked, I watched. I'm glad I did!
Nice! Keep Up with this series 🙂
Thanks! Will do!
Do ray ban aviator review pls
These always look great; they look amazing on you. What size are you wearing? 50mm or 54mm?
Cheers! Mine are the 54mm version. 2140s.
I've never noticed that my Ray-Bans glasses were slanted, I guess that's exclusively a wayfarer sunglasses thing.
Not sure! It's definitely very pronounced in the 2140s though.
All I wear...keeping them in business by accidentally setting them down at various places and walking away...only to find out in eye squinting fashion once walking outside...
Haha! I'm pretty good about NOT losing sunglasses, luckily. :-)
1000% agree!
Rayban Clubmaster for me.

Where do you find the originals?
The Original are the ORB2140.

Bahahaha CLASSIC.
