- Building a map of New York City for my studio. Most of the supplies from Home Depot, electronics from amazon, print from fedex. Hope you guys enjoy, excited to make movies with this!
Big thanks to Matt Courson for helping film and hopping in the video. Please update your phone.

a perfect movie
He gives me a Casey vibe
Casey!
Agreed !
the reward for good work is more work
How, can you roast one of my videos Casey? Also I was thinking about how you often wear sunglasses, is it because you always knew your future would be bright?
I made a similar map of the city I lived in for 10 years (Ghent, Belgium). No movie locations unfortunately but all deeply personal locations (place I got married, favourite bars, park where we finally caught a pikachu in the summer of 2016, …). Memories
I'm making a similar map of my own personal locations on Google Maps for my kids (though doubt they'll ever bother looking at it!)
That's so adorable
That pikachu thing hit me hard wow
ayy ben ook van gent!
I visited Ghent for a few days back in 2017. Beautiful city :) I made some nice memories just in that short time, I can only imagine the memories you made living there for 10 years
This appeared in my reccomendations... Then I read it in Tom's newsletter... Then I clicked! What amazing production quality for such a small channel.
Tom's like Tom Scott?
This is fantastic! Would listen to an hour long podcast of all the intricacies of how you made this and decided on the locations.
Appreciate it! Good to know someone appreciates it. might start a patreon someday for a bunch of the behind the scenes stuff
@@JordanStuddard man I'd gladly sub to that patreon. Even if you just shot a single take casual walkthrough and explanation of the details it'd be riveting. I love getting to understand other people's creative process.
@@JordanStuddard and a kickstarter to sell these "maps"
@@JordanStuddard Great way to store a big table in a small space! Respect.
Whoa this incredible, great work
HE WOKE UP! HE WOKE UP!
Should’ve expected Half Asleep Chris would love this!
Tom Scott’s newsletter brought me here. This was great!
That ending pay off!
most would have focused on the build of the map, but you found a creative way to share the WHY
This is new in a way I haven't seen on RUclips in years. Well done. Looking forward to seeing more of your work.
The minimalist "Philip Glass"-like score really is the cherry on top ;) Nice video.
i wonder where he got it from 🤔
This little movie has it *all*:
the topic, the story, the edit, the acting, the practical build, the locations - Working on my own channel this is the quality I strive for.
And *God* I wish I was back in New York, such good memories of living and working there over 20 years ago :) Thank you sir for making a great video :)
Charming. The map itself is great but I especially love that representation of your Texas home surrounded by NY skyscrapers. I love the circular way the story all ties together - you grew up watching films set in NY which frequently used massive maps as props. Then, you moved to NY and visited the locations to make them tangible and real, and then you went and made the maps real as well. Lovely wee film.
We need one of these of London ASAP! 🙌🏻🙌🏾
can we hold you to that? 😂
this build up was epic. ending was PERFECT
the low-angle of the miniature skyscrapers is so good. iphone frame within frame works surprisingly well too
Man, that's how you tell a story. Casey would be proud.
Even the appartment shares the same features
Had to wait until the end to understand it. Genius!
as someone fascinated by new york since childhood, and making new york in 3D i really apreciate your work and talent to make something beautiful in term of videography and in term of making a really cool map that my inner child will also buy
This was absolutely brilliant. Loved the creativity, storytelling, and excited to see what else you have in store!

Loved this, you sparked some inspiration in Brooklyn today. Keep making awesome stuff
Jordan, your creations are astounding!
This is amazing! Great work.
This map is reminiscent of a science project I made in 5th grade and the visceral delight felt with every lit bulb. Thank you for the reminder in the form of a very well done vid. Off to the craft store now for some hand made nostalgia.
Definitely found my new favorite youtuber. Your videos so far are incredible!

Such a great video 👏
Dude I love how much you love your work. I am so charmed and entertained by this video wow
Wow the whole production and film making is top notch
Absolutely love maps, absolutely love THIS map!
this is the most amazing video I've ever watched. I am being so serious. I've been working on my yt channel and accumulating yt inspo and this video is going straight to my "rlly cool yt inspo" playlist. sorry I don't wanna ramble too much, but video's like these make me feel so proud. great work!
I have watched so many youtube videos that are clearly trying to mimic the polished style of a movie and this one blow them all out of the water in just over three minutes. You were born to make movies, dude. This looked effortless.
The timing of this video was inspiring and engaging! Every shot just enough but not too much to tell each part of the scene which is challenging for a build video and then you tie it all together. Don't think I've ever seen a video on RUclips that did this as perfect as you have.
👏👏👏👏
amazing, amazing, amazing!!
Very nice cinematography and storytelling,
i can't wait to see your future projects!
Thats AMAZING!
This is so heartwarming. I hope you are thrilled as you absolutely should be! :-) Thank you for sharing the video with us, it's supremely cinematic. ❤
this is beautiful
Amazing!
Awesome build, amazing production quality!
that was really cool, seeing each marked spot would be nice.
I love this idea!
The quality and effort you pack into 3 minutes is crazy
That video was nicely done. I'm amazed *-*
this is so cool. love ur editing style btw
This is absolutely astonishing
This is a really beautiful video and a great concept! I love your cinematography. Your shots all look great! Have a blessed day!
I absolutely love that you used real lightbulbs, not LEDs.
I have to say, I did end up using led bulbs but bought four different brands at first to find ones that looked as natural as possible. I then lightly sanded the acrylic bulb of each one for a softer glow. leds last so much longer and with this many bulbs I didn't want to have to worry about changing them all out. also they burn cooler, so less of a fire hazard than traditional bulbs.
