@@lrdkain that’s awesome. You’re gonna have an easier time on the big stuff you skate. It’s much easier to pull off the wall. Thanks so much for watching and commenting. Miss you, my friend.
Great video, dude! Lots of great advice. I love the flat-ground hop. I might try that and add a 180 turn to it (if possible). Also the "piloting bit" from lower tranny to higher. I cant wait for my back to heal and get out there!
@@skater_scott thank you 🙏🏼 🫵🏼 you can add a turn for the flat ground work. The way I do it… It is more of a lever motion than a hop. Piloting is really helpful and helps you get the feeling of going through coping into the air, keeping your board to your feet and landing. 🛬 keep me posted 👊🏼🤙🏽 appreciate you 🫵🏼💯
You don’t necessarily pull out for late grabs because that method will only shoot you out; causing you land to flat. Learning to scoop/pop early grabs above coping helped me understand late grabs easier since I simply apply the scoop/pop method from early grabs to late grab. Once I got early grabs dialed , I stick my grab arm in front of me so as soon I scoop/bonk/pop above the coping, the board flys into my grasp. Then I suck my knees towards my chest(acting like it’s an Ollie) , point my lead shoulder towards the transition when I reach the apex , and allow the gravity to carry me through the rotation instead of forcing my upper body and hips to rotate the backside air
@@dinguscollective1872 Thanks this is excellent advice! Working on dialing in the grab so I can keep it on my feet right now. The leverage & grab are a lil loose in comparison to early grabs. You agree? Thanks again. This is great advice. I really appreciate you watching me and commenting. Thank you.👊🏼🙏🏼🫵🏼🤙🏽💯🛹
@ True, with early grabs you can hold onto the board as tight as you can. With a late grab holding onto the board tightly can causes the back foot to come off the tail but that’s not always the case. You can firmly grasp it. However I mistakenly used my grab hand to “tweak” the board thinking my back foot will follow through. As it turns out I had to apply more pressure on the tail’s pocket to prevent my back foot from flying off the tail. Also if you ever feel your front foot slide up the griptape that’s the byproduct of the scooping motion since it’s basically like scooping a backside 180
@ thanks, appreciate you. I’ve had the same problem. That’s why I started grabbing backside behind the wheel, but in front of the foot and I really focus on trying to keep that board to my feet. I think fly outs on a steep quarter pipe is a good way to practice the late grab before trying on a flat wall for late grab Backside Airs 🚀.
@ that’s a good way to learn them. When I learned them a few years ago I’d use this horseshoe quarter at this skatepark in Anaheim called Ponderosa, to get them dialed
Excellent vid Bro!!! Gonna start working on these… 😌

@@K_spawn 😂 I’m from Louisiana so I take that as an unconscious thing that happened & I didn’t even realize it 🤣
I got to grab the nose a little bit my hand let's go when I roll back in
@@K_spawn it’s OK to release early as long as you’re not hanging up and you’re landing on the board. Great work 👊🏼🤙🏽💯
