  • Kermit Roosevelt III, a professor at the University of Pennsylvania Carey Law School and the great-great-grandson of President Theodore Roosevelt, discussed his new book, “The Nation That Never Was: Reconstructing America’s Story” with his colleague, acclaimed constitutional scholar and Yale Law Professor Akhil Reed Amar. The two legal scholars talked about our government's historical reliance upon and invocation of the Declaration of Independence and the Constitution while debating whether the Gettysburg address was a more appropriate guiding document for our addressing equality and social justice in our country.
