Only a racing driver could tell us if the sound is right in point or not. I've read comments about the in car sound but everyone is forgetting about a little detail… in this case the real life sound was recorded with a GoPro, or something like that. So, not a good mic.
If the sounds are recorded from a real car, how can it Not sound like the real car? In that case the "It doesn't sound real" argument is absurd. Sure it doesn't sound exactly like in this video. But it sounds a lot like sounds on some other videos. Microphones are not ears. Loud sounds become distorted. Explosions in videos don't sound Real. Engine sounds are more "raw" in video. Lower quality mics can't handle the volume level. So, what do we like to hear in video game? The brutal raw sound from videos we are used to, or something like what we would hear with our own ears, if we were in racing car without any ear protection? Or what we would hear if we were racing those cars with helmet on? That is the question.
The engine sounds in Project CARS 2 aren't there yet, but they're getting there, they do sound closer to the real thing during replays. SMS are certainly closer to the real life racing than any other title, and they're the only ones striving to make a realistic type of racing game out of the big three.
ZuneGuy1118 great progress is undoubtedly being made. As for sounds, iRacing have certainly made a significant step forward as of late, though I don't think anything beats R3E for sounds
La Finale Asseto Corsa is OK. Needs more though. Project Cars 1 was is definitely a stop above that game. I would like to see Asseto Corsa 2 or something because that game is promising as well.
great job.. im looking forward to taking to the track again.. got the new wheel/pedals and VR :) ... I can smash into walls without all that horrid pain and financial dramas.
an excellent comparison.. time in editing was well worth it! impressed!! lets hope everything else falls into place and looks as good as this car and track do, in the final game!
Easiest way to tell which is which, without reading the caption of course, is the rearview mirrors. The real life one shows just the side netting in the car, while the game one shows the same thing as it does from the driver seat, because that's how racing game mirrors almost always work. They don't work relative to the "camera" or the driver's head. They just reflect the rear view as if positioned perfectly wherever you are viewing from.
lol it's funny how people complain about the handling in the game being too "bumpy" yet when compared to real life the same type of suspension movement can be observed. no road is perfectly smooth and cars do not steamroll through surface imperfections, especially not on older tracks like the nordschleife.
I think the biggest thing missing is the exhaust note. You can hear the engine, the whine, but no exhaust note like there is IRL....but honostly I don't wanna listen to the exhaust for an entire race
yeah the flames look bad. They've looked that way from Shift. An upgrade would be nice, but I really don't care about it tbh. Curbs look fine. Go look up high res screenshots, they look great.
Would be nice to include the chassis wind sfx. PC2 is a bit too smooth and yet I see lots of comments on it being too bouncy....Guess they never bothered to check real life footage. Oh and also they should include dynamic mirror vibration.
some apexes are so polygonate then it screams its not real footage like the rest of the map looks great. Some autosmoothing curve polygons would be nice function in options.
Stanislav Coros that's rubber, and that really is on the apex of race tracks due to all the cars driving on the same spot. You just don't see it very well on the real vid, or the track isn't rubbered up as much as it is in the game. The way it looks in Pcars is how an optimal track surface should look.👍
It seems to me the physics are way better. It's only a matter of fine-tuning. Center of gravity isn't a 1 ton point anymore, though mass dispersion of the car weight should be a little higher. Hopefully, that would tone down mass transfer a bit more and prevent overturning the (steering) wheel. As we can see in the video, in Pcars2 you have to turn the wheel down a notch in the Audi. I hope the final build cast camera shacking effects based on gravitational force too. Something similar to AC, for those who don't have motion bases with actuator strokes and active dampers on their chairs.
I feel like the dashboard the windows of the real life car and the driver's hands are bit more shaking . I dont see that in project cars as much as i can see in the real life video.
The real footage is more game like... on my galaxy S8. I'll need to watch it on my big screen but PC2 is looking great. Audio is good but needs some improvement
That´s a big problem for racinggame-devs! In real you have: - Onboard camera sounds (much differents, quality, postion of micro etc.) - Real sound you hear when you sit in car with helmet an ear plugs If you make onboard camera sounds, it is not realistic. Your are not a microphone mount at the cage! But it sounds good an for unknowing realistic. If you imitate the real sound you hear when you sit in car with helmet an ear plugs, it´s sounds real! Because you are the racedriver ;) But it sounds realy bad and muffled. PC2 sounds like a compromise to me
Look at different onboard videos of the r8 lms! Every sounds different! Camera/microphone quality, position etc. makes the different! If you mount the same camera at the cage, the dashboard and helmet, you have 3 different sounds. At cage, you hear more vibrations of the car etc. Take a onboard video to compare is okay, but which has the real sound? I´m sure you have the same number of laps with a real R8 LMS like me ;) I can´t say what is accurate! I can only say, a helmet and earplugs destroy the sound of every car ... this sound ingame, 98% don´t want it .... and the "meeep" oft the transmisson hydraulic pump is missing in pc2 ;)
it has the same positioning or am i wrong? they are both cams on the cage but the game sound dont come close to the real onboard sound, what is the problem here. do you dont understand me? the sound hasnt to be like, i sit in the car and the sound must be like that no it has to be the sound what the cam records. like what you hear in the video in the bottom. (sorry for using the wrong words but english is not my strongest part)
track detail is not accurate enough, limited graffiti on track compared to the real thing, however your never going to beat the real thing so for me pc2 does provide a good enough experience despite some details missing, this track is known for the track graffiti so to me its a niggle but not a game breaker.
They could replicate every tree like irl but that wouldnt run on any consumer computer out there with acceptable FPS. People play PCARS (2) to race, not for screenshots. Its close enough for that and one of the best.
Just hear the first 15 sec of the video and then switch to this video of an GT3 wth better recorded onboard sound and be amazed. ruclips.net/video/RAbWVTKzRx0/видео.html
everything is missing in terms of audio. can't believe pcars 2 is this far behind on the sound image still. its been years. 4 to be exact. turn the freaking engine roar down, work on the ambient noise, its missing.
You know the graphics are good when you have to double check which one is which
i had to look twice.. :)
Only a racing driver could tell us if the sound is right in point or not. I've read comments about the in car sound but everyone is forgetting about a little detail… in this case the real life sound was recorded with a GoPro, or something like that. So, not a good mic.
Emanuel Batalha The mic can be bad but the sound is definitely different from PC2's one
Is it just me who didn't know which is the real life one for a couple of minutes.lol😂😂
The Real Life one clearly has lower graphics than P CARS 2 footage. Also, the FPS is crap in Real Life.
:D
me either hahaha
no its just you
Nathan Nuk3 me too
Nop!
So close, i think, but PC2 needs more wind sound effect.
Project Cars 2 wins.
If the sounds are recorded from a real car, how can it Not sound like the real car?

I think the real r8 is a V8 and the project cars one is a V10
Nope its a V-10 in real life. I don't think they ever came with a V8 in the LMS version.
CGuerrilla exactly dude,100 % agree
The real life video sounds choppy and fake. The manufacturer needs to make real life sound better. Too arcade like for me. 😂
Z28Gaming it sounds loud because there is no insulation to save weight
Project cars 2 brings the Dream to reality, a game with the same sensation with real life and not life risk if you colide, thanks Pj2
I like how the real car has Gran Turismo stickers on it XD
The engine sounds in Project CARS 2 aren't there yet, but they're getting there, they do sound closer to the real thing during replays. ZuneGuy1118 what about assetto corsa? Is that game realistic?
Chris Wang No. Assetto Corsa is garbage.
Urban Chaos 2.0 that's because u don't know how to drive a real car, kid
La Finale Asseto Corsa is OK. Needs more though. Project Cars 1 was is definitely a stop above that game. I would like to see Asseto Corsa 2 or something because that game is promising as well.

Cool video. Nice drivin on the sim to . Cool to see the real life comparrison
Can hardly wait for Project Cars 2. Been paying Assetto Corsa and PC1 in the meantime.
I think the biggest thing missing is the exhaust note. You can hear the engine, the whine, but no exhaust note like there is IRL....but honostly I don't wanna listen to the exhaust for an entire race
WOW - That looks so close. Amazing work.
thanks
Awsome. Great comparison and great driving by all !!!
Do you know what the FOV is on the gameplay version?
how to enable this camera? It is possible to make it in race or just replay?
I don't want to be that guy , but what's up with the flames from the exhaust ? They are very cartoony , as well as the curb textures.
I think that the word you're looking for is nitpicking. Everything looks stellar, and it is still a WIP after all.
ZuneGuy1118 Yeah that word
yeah the flames look bad. They've looked that way from Shift. An upgrade would be nice, but I really don't care about it tbh.
Curbs look fine. Go look up high res screenshots, they look great.

Is Project cars 2 will have 60fps on xbox one? Is it driveable with controller?
it feels better on a controller compared to pc1 but i am not sure if pc2 will be 60 fps on xbox one.
MythicalShoto yeah sure on xbox one x ;)
why there is that guided strip on road, which is not visible in real world ? :D
Stanislav Coros that's rubber, and that really is on the apex of race tracks due to all the cars driving on the same spot. You just don't see it very well on the real vid, or the track isn't rubbered up as much as it is in the game. The way it looks in Pcars is how an optimal track surface should look.👍
Stanislav Coros in fact the track looks a bit damp in the real vid, so that's probably why it's so hard to see.
Before the 60fps kicked in I honestly had a hard time figuring out which one was real
Sense of speed was real...
Nice comparison, waiting for PC2 to be played on PS4 Pro with full racing cockpit setup.
And now u know it's bullshit, right?
Estamos longe ainda mas chegaremos lá com certeza....Mas fizeram um belo trabalho sem duvida!!
It seems to me the physics are way better. It's only a matter of fine-tuning. Center of gravity isn't a 1 ton point anymore, though mass dispersion of the car weight should be a little higher. Visuals are damn stunning. But does the gameplay feels like ? need to play it for that
Why is the real life one so bumpy that's unrealistic.
They bough the base model Audi
great race man! I need this kind of speed on the Green Hell. I need help on setups if anyone can lend a hand.
awesome!!!
Thank you for the video
That screen shot at the end. What game is that?
Fluffy Jerome Project Cars 2
I feel like the dashboard the windows of the real life car and the driver's hands are bit more shaking . I dont see that in project cars as much as i can see in the real life video.
now i do understand why people say the sound in pc2 is bad.
Project Cars 2 has better Graphics then real life.
Hmm, Project cars 2 need to improve wind sound inside...and mirror don’t show up car body :(
Project CARS has better graphics
PCars2 is too legit!
The gap between computer graphics and real life is closing shut day by day..
sounds like the bass is amped up on PC2 or something.
The real footage is more game like... on my galaxy S8. I'll need to watch it on my big screen but PC2 is looking great. Audio is good but needs some improvement
For me video games have yet to capture the turbulence in car racing that you would get in real life, as you can see in this video.
Project car 2 is more realistic than the real life
If they turn down the color vibrancy in the game, it would look more realistic
why not play it black&white? it's not the same time of the day/conditions.
I envy German people who can go out and drive on this track :(
Project cars 2 é mais real do que a vida real
Why does the real life one look like need for speed most wanted 😂
I think project cars wins
i dont get it. cant they record the car sounds and put it in the game or something because the real sound is a huge difference. not even close
That´s a big problem for racinggame-devs!

I understand what you mean. You are right! I compare different, because the sound of this cam view and the driver view is same ingame.
Both looks the Exact same tbh😂

no cup holder or sticker , its not realistic
Bruit extérieur,presque parail,mais assetto meilleur
Too much trees in PC2. Often to near to track.
It's because the video in real life is during winter
and besides, really who the fuck cares about amount of trees when you have the whole track laser scanned xDD
They could replicate every tree like irl but that wouldnt run on any consumer computer out there with acceptable FPS. People play PCARS (2) to race, not for screenshots. Its close enough for that and one of the best.
trees closer to the track help give the impression of speed.. ( i think ) :0 i could be very wrong too ..lol
just my thought
Just hear the first 15 sec of the video and then switch to this video of an GT3 wth better recorded onboard sound and be amazed. ruclips.net/video/RAbWVTKzRx0/видео.html
Pas du tout le même bruit moteur

sempre troppi angoli di volante :(
U want real life and real sounds get gt sport..thats the true life simulator!....
Your joke isn't funny.
Albert Wijnkoop its not a joke its real..its either u get it or not
PC2 sound is exaggerated,
its good for console racing.want real racing sim iracing is where its at
GT Sport comes close to the real life footage.
