Ofc, but it's still good to know what it is because different ppl have different options. When you like Sims you will most likely like a sim more than an arcade game, right?
Need for speed is all arcade, grid is arcade, burnout is arcade. Test drive is arcade. Track mania is arcade. Its fucking obvious what an arcade racing game is idiots.. Any racing game that is serious with their tune ability/physics/handling/track scanning is a fucking simulator, period. Fuck off anyone who thinks pcars / F1 2017 could possibly be a “simcade”. AC, Pcars, iRacing, RR, Automobilista, F1, Dirt, all 100% simulators.
Love your perspective, Jimmy. A comment on bias: Everyone is biased, and you shouldn't feel bad for having your own bias; it's formed by what you like. Everyone who visits this channel has their own bias as well. What's important is to be honest, and I feel like you are exceedingly honest about the foundations of your opinions. With that information, I'm able to incorporate your opinions, which is the best anyone can hope for. Having said all that, I really appreciate the video, and I find myself identifying with your viewpoints on pCARS 1, Assetto Corsa, etc, so thank you. Your videos will help me make a decision as to whether or not I'll buy pCARS 2.
7:20 Hey, at least they managed to pass through. If this was Assetto Corsa, all AI would collide each other and make a choo-choo train until they all teleport to pits.
while once upon a time it did do that, the most recent AC AI update was pretty good. I found those ridiculous trains were only on third party tracks with no AI data embedded in I really really enjoy AC, but it'd be rad for PC2 to be as good or better. I'm all for more quality sims. PC! AI was shite, far too aggressive in PC1 but I still enjoy certain cars in that game too.
The recent update is an improvement, but still many issues to take care of and I hope they won't stop updating it (though it's most likely they will, because everyone is like WOW BEST AI IN SIM RACING IT'S PERFECT NOW, uuh nope.)
6:20 this is my point exactly. The Ford GT GTE seems instantly, perfectly tuned to my track of choice, whereas with most other cars it takes hours and several adjustments to get things right.
Not sure how you can manage to drive and narrate at the same time. I can't wait to try this game when it comes out. Thanks for the videos. Awesome move at the end btw.
Nice video, Jimmy! Glad you like the Ford GT GTE better than the LMP900 cars. As others have mentioned, the GTE cars got a lot more love and attention during that time period than the LMP900's. As for the car getting a bit loose in the fast corners - give it a bit more downforce at the rear =). Rather than commenting on whether you feel the car handles realistically with the default setup, how about commenting on how realistically/positively you feel it reacts to setup changes? =) You can get it to handle whichever way you prefer. Setups are _that_ powerful in this game. Also, watch out for the shift in the aero balance as you brake/accelerate. The weight shift changes the angle of attack (rake) of the car respective to the road, which influences the car handling quite a bit. Watch out for crests as well - cars tend to get quite light and loose over crests in this game =). As for providing you with login credentials, I'm not 100% sure, but I'm fairly certain it would constitute a fairly severe breach of contract with SMS, if any of us WMD folk were to do that.
Good video there, nice to see you getting into the game a bit more. Well done for keeping up the commentary while driving, that can't be easy. I guess if the press build is some way behind the final game then some cars will be further along than others, glad you got one that is closer to a finished version. Keep the videos coming thanks.
Great honest vid Jimmy! :). Liking how ur adjusting ur findings on the go as well :). I guess with so many cars thers gonna be a few that will feel off, but hopefully most cars will have the same attention this Ford has. Really hoping this game is gonna be awesome, especially because of its amazing big track roster (variety baby!). Maybe another video idea is to check out how the different weather conditions drive (maybe with this car?). Playing a track in the winter (Snow/Ice) could be interesting to test the FFB.
Much better video this time. I hope that more cars truly match the quality of this car, because the PC racing game+sim market could do with some real competition. I just also hope that cars like the GT-One were polished, because cars like that feel like a selling point to me, since (at least for the GT-One) they are extremely hard to find good replications in sim racing.
I think the main problem with VR recordings, is that they aren't going through a human brain first, which is handy for automatically stabilising the constant wobbling. If VR had some kind of image stabiliser mode for recording, it'd be awesome. But for now, it's not a big hit for me. Can't wait to have a try of it sometime though, if I can ever find a demo stand somewhere!
It's not just the shaking, it's the constant and unpredictable movement as well (which would still remain even if you somehow stabilized the general shakiness). There's a reason why in the movies, most of the movement is done in the scene itself while the camera is mostly stationary or moving slowly in one predictable direction.
This is what really made me like Project Cars 1. Your opponents actually feel like real racers. They overtake you, shut the door on you, and overtake each other while you're conducting your own race. The lack of realism on this end in other simulators, including big ones like GT and Forza really ruins it for me.
Yarrr, Glard to see you enjoying the game morrre, cyborrrg jimmeh. It's probably harrrd to tell if it's just the novelty of V-ARRR that makes it awesome orrrr if it's actually an improvement on the oariginal. If they ever implement triple screen supporrrt I might pick this up when I'm ashore!
Great video Jimmer. That looked like a lot of fun, even if AI is a little crazy at times. As someone who likes GT racing it kind of helps me want pC2 a bit more, but still not sold on it... wait and see.
Having put up with Project Cars (which in its day was a step ahead in terms of VR at least!) I am looking forward to PC2, I'm hoping its FFB will live up to other sims that are out there already, I think AC sets the standard in terms of information to the driver (IMHO), whereas RF2 physics (first time I drove the BTCC cars I thought WOW!) seem to be (subjectively) a little ahead ... not much though... I'm kind of hoping if PC2 can't reach something that matches or exceeds at least one of those, its graphical fidelity wont help it so much this time as AC, RF2, IR and RR all support VR now and will only get better. Fingers crossed for a great game, hoping the input of real racers is a good thing and not just the 'promotional' tool that it currently seems to be!
Nice video, hopefully you'll be able to test a newer build with more cars done properlly to give us a bigger picture of the game! It's a shame that AI got stuck that bad on La Source =( Oh, extra points for the bandana hanging on the mic!
Jimmy, first of all, that vid was a blast. About the Toyota vs. Fort GT could it be that the current cars are better because the info from the manufacturer is current as are the set-ups from drivers? I would think historical cars are not being driven round and round and current drivers cannot really speak to how they should handle. The same applies to all other racing sims. Historical cars are great but actually applying the physics has to be a bit of a shot in the dark even if Martin Brundle was asked to do the set-up on the Toyota.
Next request, other than hoping you can get a current build to see if more of the cars stack up, is a consumer wheel! I'd love to know if the consumer wheels require much fiddling or if they're good out of the box, or if they're any good at all! Also, does the press build have online play? If so do you think you could test out the online?
PC2 is amazing, pc1 not so much. PC2 visually blows AC away, but AC has better multiplayer. Both drive nearly identical on my TSPC Racer wheel once properly setup. PC2 has amazing control over ffb wheel, best in field to me, I actually hurt my left wrist with the ffb it is so good and strong in an F1 car. I put it in top 4, with AC and both Dirt Rally's. Dirt rally 2 is just fantastic in VR, drives way better than rally1, but once again, take time to set up wheel and ffb, nothing is perfect out of the box, but can be great. I run full Ultra in PC2 perfectly with Rift S, amazing to the point, I have not played a single non-vr game since the day I got my Rift S. Will never drive another non vr race game, PERIOD. True Game Changer, I am excited to race again and racing is why I purchased VR. Also find it great for 3d and vr movies, online poker etc. Marvel supports 3d in all of their movies, clear as a bell edge to edge. AI is not a problem in VR, when the car next to you is 2 feet away, you don't have issues like you will on a screen. Cars that were difficult on a screen are quite fantastic in VR, you feel the car rotate and move around. PC2 also lets you put "recenter VR" as a button on your wheel, Brilliant. All VR games need this.
I can also run competitively and win races at 100% and higher, something I could not dream of on a screen. You will destroy all of your best lap times in VR. It is the only way to race.
Project Cars 1 was all hype the first time around. I ended up rarely playing it, same with all my sim racing pals, we always end up on Assetto Corsa. Also i've never been a fan of PCars steering setup or track dimensions, especially with the Nordschleife track; saying that I did like the damage and its graphics on pcars 1.
Jimmy, take a look at view settings if you proceed with content. G movement and world movement should be moved down to the 15-25 range to avoid the weird shaking that everyone is talking about.
I love this game, but only for playing with other people. The AI is frustrating to say the least, they always seem to have infinite grip when overtaking you and I swear there is a catchup mechanic to make sure someone is always on your rear end. Still great to watch jimmer play it, however.
Jimmy I love this VR stuff ! However I get a bit dizzy watching it, and I think that if you put something like a small point in the middle of the screen during editing or whatever it could help. Thanks ;) (i tried putting my cursor but it disappears after a few seconds)
AntiSpeed yep you can have rx and other types like open wheelers but this only changes rules and penalty and does not limit track selection or car selection
This was a major issue with PC1: some cars finished, others not, some tracks AI are great, others, they are awful. Its just sloppy, which is why I'm waiting to hear from users before I spend any money with SMR.
I can't jugde the driving just by looks but what i did notice is that they basically copy pasted pcars1s spa version. This is kinda sad because it is so far off from reality
"A lot of people seem to be under the impression that I'm out to dislike PCars 2" Well, luckily for you, Empty Box released his video yesterday, so all of these people now went to hate on him for having an opinion they don't like ;)
Martin 'Case' Fiala and he deserved it. He's admitting to blinding hating on the game. New game, go in with an open mind. Jimmy is being a good reviewer and giving it a shot. Taking feedback. Even listened to comments and tried the car we recommended and he enjoyed the game.
Twitching could be from tc abs and stability control if you have any of those enabled, some car are snappy like that with the grip balance being weird on corners
When you say the ffb twitches, is it related to you applying the brakes? I know in the first game i really disliked the way the wheel would yank to one side when hitting the breaks. It was possible to dial it out but generally a pia with the original settings.
I want this to be good, and we seem to have similar opinions in every other sim, so I'm really trusting you on this title as to whether you're going to save me €70 or get me a new platform for racing. Between you, Empty Box and Billy Strange, that's probably going to be what determines me buying this game.
Hello there :-) Thnx for the nice vid!!!!!! Question: A time ago I chosed Assetto Corsa against Project Cars (even if I bought 'em both!), but got over 200hours on AC, where project cars badly hit 20 hours... under VR, IMHO, AC is way smoother at higher details as PC1 could hold on... Now the question: does PC2 holds on the framereate on high render settings? Running the 1080, but even that get jerky on SOME games specially when you pass the pixel rate to 1,5 or worst, 2 :) TIA!!! cheers
How's viewing distance? I always struggled with that in PC1 on my Vive as when I drive in real life I scan ahead... could never do that in PC1 but I put this down to a limitation of the VR display tech rather than the game. Is PC2 going to be much the same?
9:48 is my biggest gripe with PC1, and it seems like it's continuing into pc2. Hopefully it's been fixed since this video is old. But the AI having zero lateral awareness is pretty disappointing.
Jimmy. James over at GamerMuscle might be able to help you with optimising the headset. He seems to have it dialed in pretty well over there and his VR videos look good too. :)
Hi there I see you're playing project cars 2 in vr. I have the game but it's got no vr logo on the case. Is mine vr and if so how do I play vr? Thank you for your time
Which sim is best for VR? So far I've only tried Iracing with VR, but the pixeldensity is pretty disappointing (even after debugtool and renderer.ini changes).
+Jimmy Broadbent Is there any way that someone (like me) could be able to have access to the press build? Haven't payed much attention to it but I really want to try it out.
biggest reason i stopped playing project cars one due to the amount of time needed to setup my wheel for every car if they fix that they may pull me away from forza
1:30 That's the point. Nice video!
Abgefahren! e
Abgefahren! Na Moin! Geht man unschuldig auf ein Video von Jimmy und selbst da wird man vom Dookie verfolgt!
Nicki Thiim - he's the best of all. WEC champion too.
Toshiya Tanabe
Also Viperconcept, TonyR, Yorkie065, Sim Racing Paddock and I'm sure there's more. There's definitely more than three!
Abgefahren! i
I dont care if the game is a sim, arcade or a mixture of both. All I care about is that I have fun when playing it.
Ofc, but it's still good to know what it is because different ppl have different options. When you like Sims you will most likely like a sim more than an arcade game, right?
I'm a sim racer, I like iRacing, and I agree 100%

isn't grid autsport technically part sim? you can change a lot of things in the settings but the normal grid games are more arcade.
At least pCars1 didn’t have laser scanned tracks and was simcade
Please put googly eyes on your oculus headset.
Love your perspective, Jimmy. A comment on bias: Everyone is biased, and you shouldn't feel bad for having your own bias; it's formed by what you like. Well said.
Oh cool a race at Spa. Glad to see this chronically under-represented track get some coverage.
It's so much fun watching you racing actually.
I just like the way you comment and race.
Can't wait to race the new GT GTE in that sim 🏁
It's not perfect, but it definitely looks like a ton of fun.
Everything looks improved from last year.
Omg, that ending.. loved it!
Jimmy I'm a huge Pcars fan, both 1-2 and I think you did it justice in both videos. No hate, only honesty
I hope you still love project cars
7:20
Hey, at least they managed to pass through. If this was Assetto Corsa, all AI would collide each other and make a choo-choo train until they all teleport to pits.
TheEngiGuy As much as I love AC, I have to agree sadly :D

because it's truth. after last update Ican say that Asseto corsa has the best AI
Lol
6:20 this is my point exactly. The Ford GT GTE seems instantly, perfectly tuned to my track of choice, whereas with most other cars it takes hours and several adjustments to get things right.
12:47 you'd never catch that in pcars 1
This 100%. If you are caught in a slide in PC1, you were screwed 99% of the time. No recovering those spins.
Not sure how you can manage to drive and narrate at the same time. I can't wait to try this game when it comes out. Thanks for the videos. Awesome move at the end btw.

Well thats encouraging ... I am really looking forward to this
Jimmy's commentary is actually pretty amazing.
"Mix of assetto cords and iracing" and NASCAR I love you slightly mad studios
Welcome to jimmy's world!!! Good ride!
Love the VR videos, please show more; Gratz on the 30k subs, Jimmy.
Much better video this time. I hope that more cars truly match the quality of this car, because the PC racing game+sim market could do with some real competition.

This race commentary is excellent!! Great video!
Spa francorchamp is such an amazing track iv'e been there for the 24h race and it's sort of satisfying to see the car fly through eau rouge
Good video Jimmy. I find the VR races interesting. Keep up the good work.
Great sound, lovely graphics, this looks so immersive! I want VR on my Xbox One X in November!
Congrats on 30k subs. I swear it was 28k just yesterday.
Mista Bob Dobalina is glad to see the channel doing well.
I think the main problem with VR recordings, is that they aren't going through a human brain first, which is handy for automatically stabilising the constant wobbling.

I dig your Renault Espace F1 cast model in the background. I miss that car!
Marc Milon Thanks! It was sent to me by a very generous subscriber 😁

Great race, and awesome outtake lol.
between assetto corsa and iRacing? seems like PC2 is on to a winner...
Nice video, hopefully you'll be able to test a newer build with more cars done properlly to give us a bigger picture of the game! It's a shame that AI got stuck that bad on La Source =(
Oh, extra points for the bandana hanging on the mic!

it is just matter of cars and setups being finetuned after press version was send out by Namco Bandaii ... no big deal except bad press :)
Nice Espace F1 on the shelf there!
hi
its nice to see that there is some improvement
AI should be much better in the recent builds, no need to worry about that i guess. Nice video, nice driving!
my only wish is that Project CARS would put the rear of the car in the mirrors
Next request, other than hoping you can get a current build to see if more of the cars stack up, is a consumer wheel! Great video..had me laughing...love your commentary
It certainly 'looks' good if nothing else, I enjoyed PC1, hopefully this is a big improvement.

Oooh BRILLIANT!
Told ya lol I've followed this title more than others lol this us good news 👍
Jimmy, take a look at view settings if you proceed with content. G movement and world movement should be moved down to the 15-25 range to avoid the weird shaking that everyone is talking about.

...is that Mosport in the top-right corner of the track selection menu?
AntiSpeed yep you can have rx and other types like open wheelers but this only changes rules and penalty and does not limit track selection or car selection
kind of looks like Mosport track map but not 100% sure. Don't think its in the game, really wish it was!

Your definition of "admiting to blinding hating" is apparently very different to mine.
"not caring" for something is blindingly hating nowadays. interesting.
It was just click bait.
If I feel up to it i'll try replicating your race in the latest backers build today. What are your AI settings? 100%, 49 aggro?
Twitching could be from tc abs and stability control if you have any of those enabled, some car are snappy like that with the grip balance being weird on corners
Hi Jimmy.... can you tell me please, wich font you have used for the video-thumbnail?

What about testing out the different weather options for PCARs 2?
Is this with PSVR? Why doesnt my helmet turn in VR mode like yours!????

Hey Jimmy great video . i have a question, do you have any feeling of the brakes locking up in the ffb?
9:20 the right side should have some tarmac before the grass, isnt it?
Yes indeed. This track isn't laserscanned tho.
Yeah i know, but its pretty important section because you can cut a bit there for a different raceline. no biggie anyway
so tempted to get a Vive just for this game.
One of the bad point is that this is the track of spa of 2014 and not 2017 :(
Nice bro!
Hi there I see you're playing project cars 2 in vr. I have the game but it's got no vr logo on the case. Is mine vr and if so how do I play vr? Thank you for your time
Sorry if you have already answered this, but will you play F1 2017 when it comes out?
Looks like they really improved the AI
I think any game would be more fun with a VR box on your face. Still probably will be a fun-ish pad game, but not as a proper sim.
Which sim is best for VR? So far I've only tried Iracing with VR, but the pixeldensity is pretty disappointing (even after debugtool and renderer.ini changes).
try assetto corsa
Sorry I didn't catch it in this video, is this PC or Console for Proj Cars 2???
More PC2 pls mate. Love these videos.
How is the Anti-Aliasing in VR for Project Cars 2? Is it working now?
+Jimmy Broadbent Is there any way that someone (like me) could be able to have access to the press build? Haven't payed much attention to it but I really want to try it out.
How many people actually are using VR? Does it pay to use development money on VR? Could VR have been added later once sales paid for it?
Notification squad, nice video jimmer
Is Project Cars 2 PSVR compatible? I thought that it was, but a lot of people have been commenting that it isn't
hi jimmer! I like your face box.
Here in 2023. These where the days.
What headset are you using? And does it work with PS4?
DISCO CURSOR
How can this title be ready for the release date they've given ? It seems like there is a lot of work still to do.
nice video
biggest reason i stopped playing project cars one due to the amount of time needed to setup my wheel for every car
if they fix that they may pull me away from forza
